Emulation
« on: February 22, 2010, 11:50:23 PM »
Just curious what emulators you guys love.  Neorage X will always be my favorite because I used to play alot of SNK games in the arcade.  I also love Dolphin, though alot of my wii games run slow.  Winkawaks is another of my favs.  So what emulators do you guys use, and what games do you play on them?

Yeah I used to use NGBA.  Lately all i've been playing is dolphin for gamecube.  My real gamecube died about two weeks ago, so I had all these games and no way to play them.  Emulators are great when you have games lying around and your console is broke.

I used to use emulators on my dreamcast.  Being able to hook my computer to my tv, I dont download any for console anymore.  I thought gens was released to play sega on xbox.  As for nintendo 64, I havent found a emulator for that on xbox.

If your looking for roms and emulators, google is the best place to look.  There are also torrents with full rom sets and the emulator.  Demonoid or The Pirates Bay have plenty.  Also, you can look at sites like rom nation, cool roms, and rom hustler.

I love arcade games, so I play MAME Emulator.
But the best emulator I thinks is  "ePSXe" , the one for PS1 games.

Anyone know what the best emulator for each kind of game ? (Like epsxe for PS1 game or Mame for arcade game)
I want to try sega but their emulator is very hard to use.
And EMU for PS2 are always clash , I thinks it's still too early to play PS2 games in PC.

OK, I realize this is kind of a late reply, but in case anyone is still reading, here are some of my recommendations for emulators:
Playstation:
Yeah, ePSXe is pretty good, but my favorite is pSX because it's pretty good and it doesn't use a plugin-based system.  I've always found the plugin system in other Playstation emus annoying. For some reason the emu's homepage just says "It works!" at the moment, but you can still get it from Zophar's Domain at http://www.zophar.net/psx/psx.html.
Sega:
Which Sega consoles do you mean? Kega Fusion is a particularly nice emulator for Genesis/SMS.  For a while Chankast was, AFAIK, the only game in town for Dreamcast emulators but now it seems that various other Dreamcast emus have popped up, but I don't know which ones are best.
Playstation 2:
Yeah, compatibility is spotty.  I think that at the moment pcsx2 is the only Playstation 2 emulator in active development. They have a page that lists compatibility, but even if your game works you generally need a really nice CPU to get full speed.

Love me some emulation.  I've play SNES (zSNES), Playstation (ePSXe), N64 (Project64), and GameBoy (VisualBoyAdvanced).  Got my xbox 360 controller and xpadder for setting up the binds.

Mang I love emulators because especially in a small country like Finland it's just about impossible to find games a few years after they've been out (unless it's something like Sims 2), which is a problem because I never buy games when they're new... Also I'd rather not buy from eBay because the shipping tends to be crazy and I can't be sure in what condition the game arrives..

Anyway, I've emulated Playstation, SNES, GBA and a little bit of DS, but I gave up on GBA (VisualBoyAdvance) emulating recently-ish because my saves would get fucked up one way or another just when I was getting into the story and fuck that... So I hope I can find the 2 games that I want to play, FF Dawn of Souls and Golden Sun, as actual physical copies one day (lol good luck with that)... And basically all remakes of main Final Fantasy games 8D I already have FFVI for GBA though
DS roms I still find slow and awkward  (I have desmume btw), especially when I tried Pokemon Diamond and it was so slow I could've killed myself, but luckily Pikapikapika sold me his old copy of that so now I can play it on my actual DS ^__^ Rufruf

pcsx2 is quite stable enough to play ps2 games, provided that your computer have strong enough spec to run it. http://pcsx2.net/
for ps1 games epsxe is quite good though some might prefer the psX emulator (don't know if their project's still active or not though)
for nds emulator I'd recommend No$GBA http://www.nogba.com/ never had any problems with it

currently waiting for ps3, xbox, and psp emulator. Seems like I still have to wait a lot of years for those.  :(
