BIZEN, Okayama -- For those with more robust palates, an unusual local specialty is gaining popularity here: A soft ice cream topped with fried oysters.

Called "kaki (oyster) soft," this unlikely taste sensation can be yours for a mere 250 yen at Gomi no Ichi, a shop operated by a fishermen's cooperative in Bizen, Okayama Prefecture.

The ice cream, which boasts two fried oysters drizzled in soy sauce, has been known to notch up sales of around 100 on some holidays.

Well, Oyster Stew is a yummy and fairly popular dish in the west, and that's made of oysters and cream.

And I've seen lots of ice-cream + fried-stuff mixes go well, ex: fried bananas and ice cream, ice cream filling in a fried dough ball.
