Where is everybody?

Sorry for triple post, but damn, this GSL match
http://www.gomtv.net/2011gslsponsors2/vod/61742

Best PvZ I've ever seen. Never thought I'd see an Archon toilet in a pro game.

That whole group was just full of surprises actually.

Dang, the current GSL is full of upsets. Glad that Nada and July got through, but I'm rooting for MC to take his 2nd GSL.

I raged HARD when Mvp was eliminated. And then BoxeR, and then NesTea, and then FruitDealer, and then...

But yeah, the older generation is looking really good this season, and SanZenith suddenly bloomed out of nowhere.

Anyone following the Team Liquid Star League?
http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/2011_Pokerstrategy.com_TSL3

Almost done with the Ro32 but already some very surprising upsets. They invited 7 of the top Koreans and so far only 2 advanced. NaDa still has to play, or rather his games still have to be casted. I'm quite surprised the Koreans are having such a difficult time. Well, MC rolled through like it was nothing, but it seems like international players are crushing pretty hard. Don't know if its latency issues, or they're just not concentrated on the TSL3, but its kind of disappointing to see them performing so poorly. However at the same time, its good to see that international players are just on par with the Koreans and there's not much of a skill deficit like how it was portrayed.
Liquid guys are getting eliminated also, surprisingly enough its the guys who are staying/stayed in Korea that didn't make it through. NaDa plays TLO so that should be pretty damn exciting. Won't be any upsets there really since both players are very popular. I do want to see MC roll through this, I hope he beats White-Ra and Tyler beat his respective opponent cus that PvP should be some good shit.

I watched the Jiinro-Morrow and Huk-HasuObs matches last night. Really liked the 1st game between Huk and Hasu, showed how one skill (blink) can determine the outcome of the match. Also looking forward to the TLO-Nada match.

NaDa/TLO match pretty exciting as expected. I usually don't like watching or playing TvT, but it's recently gotten more interesting. It was good to see NaDa's super consistent, conventional Terran vs. TLO's very unorthodox, creative Terran play. Makes for an otherwise boring matchup very interesting. Sucks that this match wasn't farther in the tournament, but it was still satisfying to watch.

IdrA/CrunCher match lol. So much BM.

I hope the Koreans and LiquidTyler crush through Ro16. Need a better showing after their fellow players got decimated in Ro32.

The TSL of upsets so far, or rather curse of Korea with anyone living there getting knocked out. Mvp VS Adelscott had me doing the Mvp face :o after he got crushed. Also with Jinro going down against MorroW, I have a newfound Swedish T to give love to - ThorZaIN! Loved that set against FruitDealer.

Some controversial games here and there, but overall I'm enjoying the games I've seen so far. Ro16 is going to be badass.

By the way, did anyone catch the GSTL? DAT FINALS! IM is my favorite team, but SlayerS really deserved the win with that fuck solid roster. I'm thrilled to see that a lot of the new faces qualified for Code A next season.  :thumbup

SlayerS is pretty ballin' right now. So many good players who are better than BoxeR currently. The Emperor is probably mid tier in SlayerS, but to be fair he's probably been more concentrated in looking after his team, making sure they get to this point. Min's weird expand style is pretty awesome, spread out as much as you can! lol. Also, they got the coolest coach, Cella. Holy Check!

Been watching the GSL World All Stars vs. Korea All Stars. It's a damn good series. MC vs WhiteRa woooow so intense. And July, what a boss.
I feel like Jinro has been slipping a bit, after that game with July. I hope he does well next season.

So the new ladder season started.. sometime recently. I just went in to play earlier and my stats were reset.
Decided to switch to Random without no real knowledge of Protoss or Zerg XD Protoss a little better but my Zerg is just horrible. Its like I have no idea what I'm doing. Played some 5 games today, got Protoss once, Zerg the rest. Managed to win with Protoss by 4 gate, lost all Zerg  Somehow I think the randomizer is broken.

MLG having too much problems and unable to actually stream anything

So far I've only seen a total of 3 matches this whole weekend.

They started casting replays lol. Mad props to day9, wheat and jp though.
Anyone see that idra/huk match? Amazing and terrible at the same time. I cant believe idra lost to a bunch of hallucinations.
Idra's been in a slump since he left Korea. Huk on the other hand got baller. Go back to where its at, Grack!

I cant believe idra lost to a bunch of hallucinations.

I was reading TL's live report on twitter of the matches and just had to palm face after this:

"Getting more info about idra huk G2, 5 voids and a colo in Huks army were hallus and idra GGd immediately"

He seems to have grown a bad habit of GGing way too early. Bunkers and hallucinations are his kryptonite.

Yeah, I wasn't at all ready for how bad this MLG was run.  Got the HQ pass, did what I could to be around for streaming, but it was no good.  Either the stream was down completely, or the stream was lagging badly, or the HQ stream was down, or the HQ stream was up and it was freezing constantly.  And even on top of all that, the stream was pretty bad quality in-game.  They've said that you can either get a refund or a free HQ pass for the next event, so I'll probably just hold out hope that next time they'll be prepared.

Oh, and the HuK vs Idra game was legendary.  Talk about playing on your opponent's weakness of raging out of games.

A guy who was watching managed to capture the stream for that game here:

http://pt-br.justin.tv/jabba_sp/b/282868451

Go to about 9:30 into it for the glorious win.

Oh fuck, my body was completely ready for a Mvp VS MC finals and then MarineKing pulls out a reverse win out of nowhere. Pretty icky about the TvT match-up, but it hasn't been all tank/marine lately so hopefully we'll get to see at least one interesting game. Another Mvp VS Ryung-like game would rock my world.

I cant believe Marineking pulled that crap on Metalopolis against MC.. and then losing

The finals should be interesting. Hopefully Marineking won't get stomped again. I'm pretty sure we're gonna see some BCs flying around. I've been trying them out in the ladder, they move so fast now.

The audience getting free pizza is pretty awesome.

Fuck, I can't wait to see Mvp crush his way up to Code S again, albeit he is up against a P in his first match up, his TvP shouldn't be as terrible as last season.

Anyway, yesterday's Dreamhack Stockholm Invitational has to be the best produced SC2 event thus far. Fuck awesome host, good commentators, a lot of top players, IdrA 6pooling, probe plushies and Swedish water. Not a complete 10, but I felt there was constant action going on, so a big thumbs up to the Dreamhack staff. I've got to get my ass to one of these events one day.

I only managed to catch the last 3 matches of DreamHack but it was really really nicely produced. Had awesome vs screens and everything  Much better production than... NASL >_>
So many matches to try to keep up with now. So many damn tournaments going on. Most definitely still gonna prioritize GSL though.

Playing random for the new season.. its pretty fun, lol. Why don't we try and share build orders/strategies? I started doing one for PvZ that's worked out well so far. Basically I do a fast expand build and turtle, then make Phoenix, Void Ray, and Colossus with some Zealots, which make up one of the strongest unit compositions in the game.

As Protoss.. go for a Forge fast expand (build Pylon and Forge at the bottom of ramp/choke). With the scouting Probe, block the Zerg's natural with a Pylon and build a Canon there when the Forge finishes. This should delay the Zerg's expansion for quite a bit. Back at home, warp in a Canon and Gateway with a Nexus following. Nexus can come before Gateway, whichever makes you feel jelly. So, get your gas, make Probes and Pylons.

Scouting again is of course important, as Zerg will have a few choices to try and catch up. They can do a Baneling bust, a Roach bust, fast tech to mutas and whatever else. I mostly get Roach bust. It's important to send out Probes to see what the Zerg will do. Bottom line is, whatever you scout, make a ton of Canons  When there is enough gas, warp in Stargates, maybe two or three. With the Stargates I usually get out 4 Phoenix and send them in to harass.. mostly snipe Queens or Overlord hunting.

Usually around this time the Zerg attack will come. If it was Roaches that I scouted, I chronoboost Void Rays to help hold the attack. If I scouted a Baneling bust, even more Canons, lol, and try to layer with more Gateways. The extra buildings can be cancelled once the attack is held off. By now I would be banking a lot of minerals so I warp in a Robotics Facility and get a third base. The third base is important because the unit composition requires a lot of gas, so even if its only mining gas, you're fine.
After the Robotics finishes get a Support Bay for Colossus and Twilight Council. As you will be getting a lot of minerals, drop down like, 6 Gateways. Research Thermal Lance, Zealot legs, and Warpgate. Warpgate could be researched earlier if resources allow.

Then I like to continue harassing with Phoenix, just to kill Overlords; or get a Warp Prism and do Zealot drops to try and deny the third or fourth base of the Zerg. With the whole time continuing to produce Phoenix, Void Ray and Colossus, you should now have.. the Protoss deathball! This is around 150 to max food. Warp in Zealots to tank damage then 1a to the Zerg base and win. You can be cheeky and get a Mothership too.

It is very difficult for Zerg to bust if you turtle with a lot of Canons. Plus, with the Phoenix harass they will be forced to stick around near their base, or get a lot of Spore Crawlers.. and then for them its less Drones that they'll have to remake which uses more larva for their attacking units.

Advantages: When Protoss maxes their army they're pretty much unstoppable. Zergs would need to send in their own max army, get wiped, buy time to re-max their army, and then engage again. With this unit composition you can pretty much walk over the Zerg army straight to their base. Also there are a lot of minerals towards the mid game for a lot of Canons to secure a third, or probably double expand.

Disadvantages: It's a fast expand build so pretty much a cheese will kill it probably. But nothing like scouting can't prevent! If you scout a 6pool or something just cancel and make a tight wall, lol.

I don't have the build timing down to a tee or anything. I'm no diamond player, lol. But that's the general strategy of it.. basically,

tl;dr Make Phoenixes, Void Rays and Colossi, kill Zerg.

It's worked out for me pretty well. I haven't lost a PvZ with it yet.

edit: I uploaded some replays
http://www.mediafire.com/?bht9m4b91o3rryl  Tal'Darim Altar. The first time I tried this strat actually. No Zealots involved, but the dude RAGED pretty hard.
http://www.mediafire.com/?8zgor5pfqwdcxl2  Xel'Naga Caverns
http://www.mediafire.com/?w9yauvwzith95t4  Slag Pits

So, if you guys try it out, let me know how it goes. Maybe we can figure out how to make it better or some way for Zerg to deal with it.
