Sawajiri is one of my favorite actresses (and is hawt as all fuck), but a singer she is not. I wasn't too hot for the single from Taiyou no Uta, and I wasn't looking forward to another single (albeit as inevitable as it was). Oh well, since when has Jpop been about singing talent? (I'm looking at you, 90% of the H!P). It'll sell well, so more power to her~~. (get back into gravure ffs!)

since we're talkiing about her acting, I actually think that's a preference thing. She's not the most  versatile actress, but she plays her roles convincingly.

I couldn't really care less about her gravure career as I don't actually follow gravure idols unless they actually act or sing. lol

I'm really just interested about whether she plays guitar or not lol

Even if she can play its just basic stuff since she just started taking lessons when that Taiyo no Uta single was released.
She probably took lessons to act how to play rather than learn how to play. Ahaha. Uh.....yeah.

She's eye candy so as long as I get to see more of her I guess I'm not complaining.

Erika Sawajiri to start singing career as ERIKA?
A mysterious new singer named ERIKA is set to release her first single, titled "FREE," on July 4. So far, all signs seem to indicate that the singer is actually actress Erika Sawajiri, who made her singing debut last year under the name of Kaoru Amane.
The singer and Sawajiri share the same name and the same birthdate (July 4, 1986). Pictures of the new artist on her official site look just like Sawajiri, and even her voice is said to be the same. The only discrepancy seems to be that ERIKA supposedly was born in a Paris suburb.

It is also said that ERIKA has been playing the guitar for almost her whole life. For her debut, she is sporting a specially-made Fender Telecaster with a surface bearing a design she created.

MTV Japan has scheduled a special program in early July in which ERIKA will make a guest appearance. The show will feature a special discussion between her and the host, who happens to be Sawajiri.

I'm glad FANTASY is a trance song, because gravure idols seem to do so much better with that style LOL I have to say I'm in the camp that agrees the Taiyou song sucked majorly

I'm happy that she's releasing a single under her own name though, and that so far it isn't too bad

Not a bad song. Her voice is very synthesized, but that's not too surprising. No sign of any guitar though

Just watched the PV, and the song is a'ight I guess. lol, Erika's like the japanese equivalent to Lindsay Lohan as far as I'm concerned though, so naturally I don't like her very much.

What was up with the random shooting white stuff though? Was that all supposed to be from that champagne bottle, or just something to rope people with a bukkakErika fetish into buying the single?

I'm pretty sure the guitar is an image thing after seeing the PV.

She also had too much eye make-up for my taste. And for once the crooked tooth isn't really working to her advantage.

I do really like the shot of her on the messy bed and the bird.

I feel she's just copying YUI again as the song was similar to rolling star, it even had some of the slow motion and the live band in the PV lol

The song was alright. They made the music go along with her voice enough so that a lot of the weaknesses in her singing were hidden pretty nicely lol

In the short preview she almost shoots the cork into her eye... Never point the bottle towards yourself!

The eye make-up was ok for the 'I have attitude' scenes I was looking if shes got her teeth fixed for this, but luckily no.
