I FINALLY GOT A COPY! :w00t:

Have only played up to the end of the 2nd tier so far, and unlocked a few bonus songs on the recommendation of others. Highlights for me already include:

Tom Morello's Boss Battle Song - Awesome. I bet Herman Li must be working out how he can recreate the awesome Pac-man sounds.

Don't Hold Back - The Sleeping - Don't like the emo vocals, personally, but I'll be damned if that's not one of the most fun GH songs to play.

F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X. - The Fall of Troy - Hardest song I've played yet :o But a lot of fun.

And the main setlist so far has been rocking, I can see myself coming back to play most of them later, unlike with GHII. And this is a question to the veterans, did you feel GHIII was different when you first played it? I guess I've played GHII for so long that the new system has made me miss a few notes. Oh well, I'll just put it down to seeing these notecharts for the first time that's causing me to miss them. Also Bret Michaels is missing when I play 'Talk Dirty To Me'. Not that I mind, but it is funny as the video of him is still available to purchase in the store, and yet he's not in the game

I got a noob question; When I play co-op and I'm bass, I don't like that default bass guitar( a les paul i think) that you have, are the bass guitars called the' finishes' in the guitar store? Cuz I want to get a new one.

Edit: Now I'm thinking not, because I remember purchasing a guitar in that section, and I'm not able to use it as a bass.

modesta: there are a couple of basses for sale in the store under 'guitars' theyre after all the other guitars. you can also unlock new basses by beating the various difficulties of co-op.

tuffty: they changed the system for hammer-ons/pull offs again. in gh2 you could pretty much HO/PO anything that was close enough to do so, in fact doing whole solos by just strumming once (its kinda fun XD) but in gh3 you can only HO/PO if thats how the note was played IRL. youll notice which notes you dont have to strum for cus they glow kinda white while the other notes have a darker center o_O

anyway, that threw me off for a while cus i was trying to HO/PO like usual and getting worked, then one day i just noticed the different centers lol

So far as I know, there are bass guitars available to buy in the 'Guitar' section. The 'Finishes' section is merely buying 'skins' for certain guitars e.g. instead of the default red Xplorer guitar, you can buy a finish to paint it black (I see those girls walk by...:D)

Just finished Tier 5 at the minute. Some more great fun songs to play with La Grange, Even Flow, Paranoid and Welcome to the Jungle. Although I've noticed something with the bonus songs. The vocals are very quiet on certain songs for example, the screams in Don't Hold Back and amazingly, My Curse, is barely heard. Don't know if this is intentional or some fault with the PS2 version. Oh well, vocals aren't the main focus of the game. And when I kicked into the first Verse of 'My Curse' and seeing a guy stage dive into the crowd, I felt a little tingle down my spine and all is forgiven :D Take This Life is the first song that I've actually failed at 11%. Crazy.

hopefully tuffty sees the post above his cus i was editing it to answer his questions while he was posting XD

anyway, i was working my way through the bonus songs, dont know how many i actually played... usually unless a bonus song is really cool, i dont really remember it. i let my sister borrow all the games and my guitar though cus she wanted to try playing, so i wont be playing for a while

I noticed the absence of brett michaels too. wonder what happened. i played his band's song from the bonus sets too, i dont remember if he was on that one though.

Don't worry, I saw! :D Well I've never played a single chord of a guitar in real life so I couldn't honestly tell you if they have done it in a realistic way. And yes this new HO/PO system did throw me off, but it's something else and I think it's a problem of mine though. Cause from what I hear or expect to be a number of strums in the song, doesn't play out that way in Hard difficulty, so I tend to have a habit of over strumming on occasion. XD

He wasn't. 'Go That Far' isn't too bad a song actually.

Sweet modesta! What's it like to play?

Well my standard playing is medium, and it got tricky a lot on medium,  so it's definitely going to be a challenge for any of you that plays on hard or expert, but If you're good then you'll have no problem :)  But other than that, it's really great to play too, the song even has the man's voice from the theme going like 'AHhhhhh' or w/e it is.

Anyone have Slash in the game? I thought it was kinda stupid how if you play 'Welcome to the Jungle' as Slash, there is another Slash playing with you, they should have fixed that

I beat Through the Fire and Flames on hard. The same song on expert is lame.

Rock Band periphreals are breaking.  So if anyone has this game (I know I do but there's been some shortages @ best buy) they should make sure the red drum is always responsive and that the strumming works on the guitar.

^ That sucks. I hear the blue drum is at fault for most people as well. But despite that, this guy is perhaps playing it a little too much

Does anyone know if the GH guitar is compatible with Rock band? I heard talk about it, but I wasn't given a straight answer

From what I heard, no it's not, at least on the PS3, Harmonix say they're working on the compatibility problem and problems in general with the peripheral.

Well I finally did it! GHIII is complete on hard mode baby! I figure what I would do is go through each tier and put them in order of personal preference

Tier 1
Talk Dirty To Me
Hit Me With Your Best Shot
Slow Ride
Rock N Roll All Night
Story Of My Life

Tier 2
Sunshine of Your Love
Barracuda
Schools Out For Summer
Bulls On Parade
Mississippi Queen

Tier 3
The Seeker
Paint It Black
Lay Down
When You Were Young
Miss Murder

Tier 4
Even Flow
Paranoid
Kool Thing
Anarchy In The UK
My Name Is Jonas

Tier 5
La Grange
Welcome To The Jungle
Same Old Song And Dance
Rock You Like A Hurricane
Holiday In Cambodia

Tier 6
Black Magic Woman
Black Sunshine
Pride And Joy
Cherub Rock
The Metal

Tier 7
3's & 7's
Cult Of Personality
Knights of Cydonia
Stricken
Before I Forget

Tier 8
Number Of The Beast
One
Cliffs Of Dover
Raining Blood
The Devil Went Down To Georgia

Fav Songs: A lot to choose from. Playing the intro for Number Of The Beast was as good as I thought and One/Raining Blood had me head banging the way through it XD An unexpected surprise for me was Black Sunshine. Never heard it before I played it and that vocal intro to the song is simply badass. 3's & 7's is as much fun as I hoped it would be, what a crazy note chart. But there are others that deserve mentioning, Sunshine Of Your Love, Barracuda, Even Flow, La Grange, Welcome To The Jungle

Worst Songs: Well that's easy. I didn't like Before I Forget before the game, and that didn't change with some annoying and frustrating chord changes. Also, Miss Murder not so enjoyable. The Metal wasn't much fun to play I thought. If there's going to be any Tenacious D song, it's Tribute!

All in all, the best GH game to date. I have to say there's a huge difficulty spike between Tier 7 & 8 on hard. I can get through the 7 tiers with relative ease with the lowest being 4 stars. Tier 8 however, is virtually all 3 stars. Some sections in Raining Blood and particularly the solo in One, is almost riduclously difficult. Regardless though, I still vastly enjoy playing them.

Tier 5 is by far the strongest. Currently I'm on Tier 7 of medium.

Awesome man. :), get your fingers ready for expert now, Expert mode is just something that I think I'll never be able to do.

I just started Hard mode about 2 days ago, and I can't get past that damn 'Anarchy In The UK' song. It's killing me

It's a little confusing.
GHII & GHIII controllers = works on Rock Band
Rock Band controllers = do NOT work on GHII or III
But the Rock Band controller sucks anyway so no one wants to play it on GH.
Then again GH isn't a really great game either. :/

So I've now played through every song in the game, co-op unlockables only and all. I've mentioned a couple of my favs from the bonus section already, but I have to mention Down N Dirty by LA Slum Lords. Cool main riff, lots of solos and the general feel of a song suited only for playing in dark crowded seedy clubs. Reptilia by The Strokes  is another shout out. Easy main riff, but when it comes to the chorus, watch out cause your hands are all over the guitar trying to keep up. I love it. Hard but not overly difficult to play.

Two more Guitar Hero games will be released by July, with another to follow in the autumn. Apparently there are big plans to expand the franchise, particularly in Europe...while Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock made more money than any game worldwide across the year. The GH series has now made more than USD 1 billion.

Source: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=92325

Well with figures like that, there's no way Activision would simply let GHIII be the last one and give out DLC only. 3 games is overkill though, and I'm a fan. Apparently one of the supposed spinoffs will feature heavy collaboration with Aerosmith, featuring tracks by, yup you guessed it, as well as 'their friends'. But I'm not bothered by that. Any GH game I buy will depend on the strength of it's tracklist (which is why I avoided Rock The 80's).

Wow, two more by July?! I like guitar hero but I don' like the two titles being close together. I'm sure I'm not gonna get those games right away either.
