Takamina: At Fukuoka Dome, when Shinoda Mariko was about to graduate, we were all on stand-by back stage. I feel bad for the fans because nobody knew Mariko-sama was going to announce it there and then so the making camera was totally unprepared. During the moment where Shinoda-san said "next Captain will be Yokoyama Yui", Yui's reaction was not captured at all.
Yui: Yes! That's right! I thought that it was unfortunate as well (laughs)
Takamina: But it'll probably just be you shell-shocked backstage though (laughs)
Yui: It was shocking!
-An exceptional selection of 9th Gen as a captain
Yui: Iya~ But when you're in AKB, it's always at big places or events like that, when it feels that your entire life changes in an instant. I felt the same when my promotion to official member was announced.
Takamina: It's always an exceptional. Yui is 9th gen right? You're already a captain & maintaining a team even though you're 9th gen. I'm also in the same team but being a team captain when there are also seniors around, how is it?
Yui: That's right, hmm
Takamina: Isn't it kinda tough to handle? If I'm in your shoes, I'd think it's tough.

Yui: Yeah but for me it doesn't cross my mind at all, in a good way, that because one is a senior, they've gotta do this or that. I personally think that because the AKB so far has been built through the efforts of the seniors, that's how we can exist now. I still think of myself as a junior & it is probably best to continue doing the things that we've been doing so far.
Takamina: For those of us in the senior team, even among the juniors, Yui is sorta a different kind of presence.
Yui: I wonder what is it.
Takamina: It's just different. But from the beginning, being the first one to be promoted in itself is already the answer I think. The methods in your efforts/hard work are not vulgar. Which is why when Yui says something, it's always a straight "Okay~" or "Got it".
Yui: Hahaha
-Yokoyama who was kennin between AKB & NMB for 8 months
Takamina: Yui too was kennin with NMB for a while, how was it like? Because of that you are able to understand the feelings of the other kennin members as a captain. I really envy that, I think that's a great thing.
Yui: That's true. Only people who have experienced it can understand how difficult kennin can be (lol)
Takamina: This is probably something I'm able to say since it's been a while but since I've observed how it was for Yokoyama-san during that time, I can see how much the current Yui-chan have grown because of it. Looking back, the Yui during that time was pretty broken (laughs)
-Secret episode during Kennin that can only be revealed now
Yui: Hahaha, that's right! There was that one time...
Takamina: (laughs) During that shoot...(laughs) It's funny now when you think back on it & we can say it now (laughs)
Yui: Yes! We can talk about now! During that time it was a relentlessly 'ganbatte, ganbatte' period
Takamina: That was your peak right?
Yui: Yes, yes, but I'm glad the kennin manage to end with feelings of "fun" within me.

Takamina: Yep. It ended up great but AKB during that time was at its busiest while NMB was having a tour, there was pretty much no time for lessons. So when we had a shoot and I entered the dressing room, Yui was freaking out, "WHAT TO DO! WHAT SHOULD I DO?!". There were whispers all around, "What's wrong?" and "It's about kennin..."
Yui: Hahahaha (laughs)
Takamina: It was the first time ever that Yui-chan had told the manager "This is impossible!"
Yui: Yes, I did (laughs)
Takamina: Yui don't normally say those kind of things like "impossible" or "difficult" so if she's saying it with tears flowing then it really must be impossible! (laughs)
Yui: Yeah...
Takamina: But well, now I think we can just assume that it was all part of an enjoyable ride~
Yui: Yes (lol) we should.
Takamina: Un, thanks. That's all, you can go now.
Yui: Eh! What a light parting!
Takamina: Hahaha, nah, I did get to hear some good stories (laughs)
Yui: This is really great. I think I can talk to Takamina-san forever like this.
Takamina: Totally (laughs)
