I agree she had it all, its completly inexplicable as to why she was/is always so overlooked. It really makes no sense at all.
Some people say it was because she gained a little bit of weight for a while, but that can't be it since Yossi gained weight for a while too.

Actually Mako did get a chance to shine right at the beginning with Mr Moonlight and all. But probably she wasn't that well received and didn't get a second chance.
That I totally don't get cuz most of the girls didn't get popular on the first try. Another reason might also be she just got shafted with the new girls coming in later  :(

Taken from Hello!online
I met Ogawa Makoto today. I work at a souvenir store in Christchurch, New Zealand, and most of our customers are Japanese. Very rarely, we get a washed-up B-grade Japanese actor come in and act the fool. It's never someone who's actually still popular, always someone picking desperately at the remains of their career.

So, it was quite a surprise when a real, live, currently famous Japanese star - a J-pop idol, no less - walked into the store. I said "Irashaimase" like always, then I noticed who it was, and tried not to stare at her too much as she browsed with her sister. She was petite, not really striking - quite shy, actually, but I guess she's only just arrived in the country.

Judging by her announced plans to study English abroad, I'm guessing that 'abroad' = New Zealand. A lot of young Japanese come to NZ for a working holiday to learn English in an environment where it is particularly safe, so I guess it's a sensible decision (if my assumption is correct, and she is studying here).

I can't profess to being the biggest Ogawa fan, but am a big Morning Musume fan, so it was a pretty big shock. She was nice, though; quiet and polite. I explained to her and her sister why we, as a nation, are known as 'Kiwis'. They laughed and went on their way, and thus ended probably the closest encounter with a MM member I'll ever have. Our store is a standard souvenir retail shop, stocking everything from kiwifruit chocolates to high end sweaters. I spoke Japanese to her, except for saying "I am a Kiwi" in English. To be honest, her sister did most of the talking - Makoto seemed a bit more shy. She's probably wary of sticking her neck out too much, just in case.

She'll get plenty of privacy here. It was funny - all the other staff are Japanese, I am the only Kiwi, but I was the only one who knew who she was. There were lots of "Honto desu ka?"s after she left and I told the others. In NZ, she'll be able to go out and be a normal citizen without much fear of being mobbed.

Bear in mind that as she was visiting a souvenir shop in Christchurch, she probably isn't going to live here. I would think Auckland would be the obvious choice, as it's a relatively big city with more to do
There's also the possibility that she's just on holiday here. Whatever the case, I don't expect to ever see her again.
Final update: my colleague had lunch with Ogawa-san, her sister and a couple of tour guides earlier this week. She was in Christchurch to check out language schools, and will do the same in Auckland before heading home to make her decision. I'm not sure whether she's going to other countries or not - I guess she could afford it if she wanted to

What a lucky Guy :)

I loved how the 4 of them did the "WOooooo" at 1 min 36 sec and when Mako gave Ai-chan that little poke at 2 min 25 sec.
5th gen will always be my fav gen

I have just watched the  Summer 06 W o n d e r f u l H e a r t sgradutation Cermony for Konno and Makoto  I was really suprised how well Makoto kept her composuer durning it.She was crying and trying to smile at the same time it was so cute. The bit that really made me cry was when Hitomi was hugging konno and Mako was just standing there watching.Hitomi looked at mako with her arm out for mako to join in the hug.

Risa was so upset at the gradutation cermony it really touched me. You could see how much mako and konno ment to her.
Of course watching Summer 06 W o n d e r f u l H e a r t s  has made me start missing both makoto and Konno all over again
Well here is a new release ive been waiting a while for this one quite expensive though.

Musical Ribbon no Kishi DVD
It features Morning Musume, Vuden, Nozomi Tsuju, Abe Natsumi and Aya Matsuura.

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?K...216&ref=myp

Alot cheaper at Amazon.jp though

http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B000JBW...d=20V3T5JGWIMMI
Then again it is 3 dvds and this will mean getting to see Makoto one more time.  As it has a graduation part for her.

What would it be called?

Mako should have the Pimako Crew or something..

Or maybe she has some 'quality' like the "wonk'~
she's my fire, my desire...
