Sunghee's real reason for her departure?
Sunghee became a Jehovah's witness when she was in middle school, 2002, with the influence of her mother. But because she moved to Seoul, she began dreaming of becoming a singer. She was too busy trying to keep up with her friends and in chasing her dream.
However, with the sudden death of her mother in 2006, she turned to the beliefs of Jehovah's witness to help to get through the ordeal. She cried every night, but because of the prayers, she was able to get through it. She truly learned and immersed herself in the religion and she felt that she was born again.
She knew then her love for God and the religion at this point. It was around this time that she was being prepped up for her singer debut. She again became busy with all the preparations. It was like a life or death decision for her. But with the belief that with God's love she can succeed as a singer, and thinking about all the time and effort she spent in order to debut, she decided to go on and become a singer. The company told her that she would be allowed to attend meetings and sessions of the religions, however, after the debut, she wasn't allowed to go at all times. One time, even though they didn't have any schedules for that day, she still wasn't allowed to go. But other times, she was permitted to attend, and in attending, she felt so happy. But then, she was ashamed of herself living so busily, not being able to commit herself fully to Jehovah's witness, and it was then that she began to question herself.
She finally fulfilled her dream of becoming a singer, but she didn't feel any sense of accomplishment. And even if she became a famous singer, popularity will fade, but God won't. Being a Jehovah's witness won't ever go away. That was when she decided she wanted to quit the group. When she decided to exit the group, she became distant from the people in the company because she felt scared to tell them, given her young age. But because of God's help, she was able to tell the company that she wanted out.
But then she faced another problem because the company gave a different reason why she quit the group. Her dad wanted nothing else but for her to succeed, but instead, he was given the burden as everyone blamed him for my quitting the group. But with prayers, she was able to get through.
A lot of people ask her why she quit such an amazing job, often with smirks on their faces. But she doesn't mind them, as she is happy and content with herself now.
After a few months, she realized that she is happier knowing that she followed God's wishes, rather than receiving applauses on stage. Spreading the good news of the Lord is better than any performance on stage.
She finished her immersion last Feb. 21, 2009. She is currently working on the ceremonies.
