Chapter 10[December 31, 2006]
"Hahaha, are you serious?" Laughed our leader, Yoshizawa Hitomi.
"I am." I replied as we entered arm in arm into a small room. Before I can even switch the light on she's already bending over on the nearest table suggestively.
"Hurry, get me out of this." She pleads exhaustedly.
"Not when you're looking like that." I replied, but she just points at her back where a zipper is waiting to be undone. I took hold of it and with a loud zip her dress is now undone. I watched Yossi peel it off her sweaty body and then kicking the dress across the room.
"Now let me do you." Yossi blurted before she catches herself and laughs out loud. She turns me around and pulls the zipper of the same identical dress she was wearing. We've just finished performing on stage. What were you thinking?
"So let me get this straight." Yossi started, "You actually went over to Eri's house AND stayed the night over?"
"Un." I muttered while fumbling to remove my dress. How did Yossi get out of hers so easily?
"Wow, knowing you Miki, I'm surprised you're in the right state of mind right now. That must've been quite an experience."
"Dammit! Why are there so many damn ruffles on this dress!" I yelled. I just wanted to rip this itchy dress off but wardrobe department would have a fit if I messed it up. I then felt Yossi's hands rescuing me from the sea of ruffles, pulling it over my broad shoulders. "Thanks." I said as I kicked it into a pile with Yossi's. "And yes, that was quite an experience. And I'll be happy if I never go back there again."
"Ah, come on, it can't be that bad? Kame-chan is a little weird but a sweet girl."
"Ha! Says the girl who wasn't there." I pointed my finger at Yossi. "I was there, Yossi. I was there. And it was crazy."
"Ah, were you seduced by her dad's charms too?"
"How did you know?"
"That's what happened to Sayu when she went to her house."
"Oh."
"And then she apologized to me for looking at another man. Heh. Crazy kohai crushes."
I shook my head, wiping off my sweat with a towel. We just finished our yearly performance at Kouhaku which explains the extra fugly ruffly dresses. We proceeded to get dressed which was not at all awkward for we change together in the locker rooms for Gatas too. Besides Yossi's not much to look at these days anyway. Her job as leader of Morning Musume and Gatas has finally taken a toll on her. Her muscular but thin sinewy body wore signs of stress, busy schedules, futsal battle scars, and a strategically placed hickey which I'm not going to question. As subleader I felt like I haven't done enough to help her out. I practically took the title away from Aichan who should be subleader according to generation. But I got it out of seniority making me the first to break this so-called authority tradition. Not to mention I've broke tradition before being the only member added without auditioning. I must be really special, ne?
"Tell me that part again about Aya being your conscience and telling you what to do." Yossi laughed.
"Oh please, no. I think I'm crazy for even mentioning it."
"By the way, is she doing ok? It's unfortunate that she caught the flu at this time." Yossi added.
"Uh, yeah, it's a shame." I lied. I had told everyone that Aya was sick which is why our group GAM couldn't perform on Kouhaku.
"So, what ya doing tonight for New Years? Wanna hit the bars with me and some of elder club?"
Sounds tempting, but, "Nah, it's ok. I have check up on Aya and stuff."
"Awwww...so cute." Leader cooed.
"
Urusai!"
We finally exited the dressing room where a group of our kohai waited impatiently to go inside and dress out already. We apologized for delaying them and went about our business. Suddenly I heard my named called.
"Miki-samaaaa~~" A familar voice cried.
I turned around reluctantly. "What, Eri?"
Eri skips over to me. She's already dressed and ready to go.
"Eh? How are you dressed already? I thought me and Yossi were first."
"Oh, I was already in the dressing room before you and Yoshizawa-san." She explained.
"Damn, you're fast. We didn't even see you."
"Well, that's our Kame-chan." Yossi goes over to Eri and puts her arm around her. "The fastest turtle in Hello! Project."
Eri smiles at her compliment then turns to me again, holding out a bottle of water. "Here Miki-sama." She offered. She's being overly nice. Suspicious.
I took it. "Thanks." I opened it and took a big gulp when Eri asked,
"Doing anything tonight?"
I choked on the water. It drips down my mouth, neck, and my clean t-shirt.
"Whoa there." Yossi patted my back, snickering a bit. She then tells me she'll meet me in the lobby but not before flashing a sneaky smirk at me as she left.
I glared at her with my wet face then turned it toward Eri. Uh oh, I thought, what's this about now? "Why? Do you have some family tradition for New Years too?" I shrank back in fear hoping she would say no.
"Uh no, I was just asking, besides I've got other plans."
"Oh really? What?"
She looks around to see if anyone's around and gestures me to come closer. So I leaned toward her and she whispered to me. "I have a date."
"Ehhhh? Date?" I exclaimed.
"Shhh!" She sprayed.
"Gross!" I wiped off my right cheek. I smirked at her. "So you finally had the courage to ask him out huh?"
"You don't know how hard that was." She had a pained look on her face.
"See? That wasn't so bad, huh?"
"Without Miki-sama's advice, I couldn't have done it."
"Well it's hard to ignore it when you've texted the crap out of my phone about it every few minutes."
What advice? I would hardly call it an advice. After receiving a spam of
Wut shld I do???????/// messages all I simply texted back to her was...
Just do it already! XP Not that 'it', mind you. You know what I mean.
"Sorry." Eri apologized.
"So, what are you two going to do?"
"We're just going to eat out and watch the New Years countdown at Tokyo tower."
Hmm, not bad I thought. I wonder who thought up that. Not Eri, I figured. "Well, you better behave or else you'll deal with me." I said firmly, shaking my fist jokingly.
"Of course."
Of course, it's Eri we're talking. She'd never get into trouble, maybe something stupid but nothing bad. "Good, well have fun." I patted her shoulder as I walked away. I can't believe this is happening. I can't help but feel envious of her. As I made it to the lobby I finally met up with Yossi again.
She smirks at me again. "What did she say to you? Asking you to come over again?" She laughs.
"No, she has a date tonight."
"Date? Kame-chan? Are you serious? What are you teaching her?" She gives me a motherly look which is the last thing I wanted to see from her. "Well, you better look out for her then. You know the rules."
"Yeah, you know the rules." I repeated sarcastically back to her. She knows that we both know about each other and the rules. She quickly slaps my shoulder.
"You know what I mean. Kame-chan seems like the naive type. Gotta look out for her. I just don't want to look like a bad leader. But then again, I am going to be passing it down to you next. Now that I'm afraid of."
"What does that suppose to mean?" I sneered.
Yossi just stuck her tongue at me. "Oh yes, by the way, have you met the new member?"
"Do we have to? These noobs are getting worse each time." As I said that I had accidentally bumped into someone in the hallway. "Hey, watch it!" I cried.
"
Sumimasen." The person apologizes and bows. "
Konbanwa, Yoshizawa-san and Fujimoto-san. Mitsui Aika desu."
"Who?" I asked, then Yossi whispered into my ear.
"That's the new member Aika, remember?"
"Eh?" I looked at the little thing. She's like a Tsuganaga Momoko clone or something. I pretended I recognized her. "Oh, oh yeah. How are you?"
"I'm fine, thanks. And you?" She spoke so properly.
"No need for the formalities." I said then added. "Except when we're on TV."
"Oh ok, sorry." She bowed again.
An odd looking kid she is. Her voice almost sounds almost like Aya's if she'd been smoking for a couple of years. I hope her voice doesn't turn out like that. I never bothered to watch the audition episode but I hope her singing and dancing is decent since Tsunku picked her and all. But then again it is Tsunku, the one who picked "Miracle", the one who took my solo career away and added me in a group with a bunch of youngins. I claim to no longer hold a grudge about that but every now and then it shakes up my mind.
"You guys were great out there." Aika compliments our performance.
"Thanks." I said. "I guess we'll be seeing you around the studio or something."
"
Hai!" She responds and bows to us before leaving.
"Geez, way to make a kohai feel welcome." Yossi remarked.
"What? I said we'll see her around. What else is there to say?"
"You're always acting cold to the new members. Give them a break huh?"
"Ugh, I don't need another Aya conscience." I pouted. "I didn't mean to sound like that. That's just my personality. Besides, you gotta be stern with them a little. We didn't do that to Koharu and look at her, she's spoiled and unruly."
"Yeah, you're right." Yossi realized. "But hey lighten up a bit. Next thing you know we might get foreign members in the group." She said sarcastically. "How are you going to treat them then?"
"From where? China?" I blurted out randomly and cackled. "Ha! If that ever happens I'll prance around in a lolita outfit for a week."
"Whoa!" Yossi howled. "Now that I'd like to see. I will remember that! You said it. No take backs."
I just shrugged it off, it's not going to happen anyway.
