Chapter 9

Quote
"Music Sutaato!" Something screeched followed by some rhythmic music. The noise startled me awake. My heart pounded against my chest as I searched for the sound that rudely woke me and realized that it's looping. It sounded familar and I've figured out that it was the music used in Eri's Eric Kamezou dance segment years ago. It's being used as an alarm on her cellphone which unfortunately is not working as Eri was still in a deep slumber, on top of her pile of junk in the corner at that. I dare not wonder how she ended up over there.
XD

Thing is, when you want a musical alarm, loud and annoying is usually the way to go.

Quote
"Hey!" I yelled to her. "Wake up! Where's your phone? Turn it off!"

...

"Found it!" Eri chirped, waving that blasted pink Docomo in my face. She opened it and clicked a button. Silence. Finally.

"Where was it?" I asked.

"In my sock drawer." She answered nonchalantly, as if she's used to finding her things in random places.

My brow furrowed. "How the hell did--nevermind." I shouldn't be surprised to hear anything coming from Eri from now on.
Hey, this IS Eri we're talking about here. :P

Quote
"Sleep well?" She asks sweetly. Her black hair was disheveled to and fro, all the live long day.
Sexy bed hair? :D

Oh wait, that's Risa's PB.  :nervous

Quote
I thought for a moment. "I did actually, until I woke up and realized I'm still here."
* JFC rimshots.

Quote
*BREAKFAST TIME*
Hmmmm...well, I've heard that while it might not be uber popular lately, it's not entirely uncommon for a traditional Japanese breakfast to include some natto. Not sure it's what I'd want to wake up to first thing in the morning, personally.  No idea at all whether or not natto goes with chocolate.  :huhuh

* JFC remembers that there was natto on the menu at the izakaya the HiPsters went to during the AX trip, and is remembering contemplating ordering it out of curiosity, but ultimately deciding against it so as to not gross out any of the other HiPsters.  :sweatdrop:

Quote
"Nee-san, please! You're grossing everyone out!" Cried the youngest Kamei.

Eri snaps out of her food trance. She points a chocolate smeared finger at her sister and scolds her but her words were intelligible, muffled by chewed up sandwich.

"'Don't, be, mad, just be-cause, you did-n't, get...any.'" I managed to make out what Eri mumbled.
Holy shit, Miki understood what she said!

Quote
"You actually understood what she said?" Her sister gawked at me. Eri gave me a thumbs up indicating that I did interpret correctly. When I realized what I had done I gawked in disbelief myself.

Maru. Maru. Maru.
Eri's sister = :mon huh:
Eri = :on GJ:
Miki = :mon duh:

Quote
*MIKI SWOONS OVER ERI'S DAD...AGAIN*
* JFC is creeped out...again.

Quote
*ERI'S MOM WITH THE BREAKFAST RESCUE*
Way to go mom with the score! Omuraisu is awesome-raisu. :cow:

And lulz at Miki heart-ing Eri's mom. So cute.

Quote
"Hey, you're in my chair!" A voice yelled from behind, followed by a kick to the chair I was sitting in. This caused the little piece of omelette to fall off my fork and into my lap. The Kamei family dog trots by and eats the fallen food off my lap before settling back into his corner.

"No, you didn't just..." I turned my head and glared at the culprit for interrupting my most precious and normal moment I've had since I woke up. Realizing who I was, Eri's brother cowered back up in shock.

"Oh my god! I'm so sorry Miki-sama! I thought you were Eri." He apologized to the point he was kneeling on the floor for forgiveness.
Well, there goes any shot Eri's brother had of having Miki-sama think that he was normal and/or not an idiot.
Eri's brother =

And did he just call her "Miki-sama" out loud?

Quote
*ERI'S GIFT TO MIKI FROM THAILAND*
The elephants! OSHIT THE ELEPHANTS!
:on lol: :on lol: :on lol:

Quote
"Why did you get this? Did you even know what it is?"

"I just looked at it and thought, 'Ah, I'll give this to Miki-sama.'"

"You took too much time looking around and the staff was rushing you, huh?" I said randomly.

"Hai." Eri answers defeatedly.

I was just kidding, but damn.
Miki = :dunno:
Eri = :hee:
Miki = :bigdeal:
Eri = :mon whimper:
Miki = :mon huh2:

Quote
I also got something for Matsuura-san too, could you give this to her." Eri hands me a pretty handcrafted thai necklace.

"Wha? How come she gets this?" I snarled at the nicer gift.

"I don't know. I just looked at it and thought, 'Ah, I'll give this to Matsuura-san.'" She repeated only this time with Aya's name.
Eeps. :O

How evil and funny would it be for Miki to "switch" the gifts and tell Aya that Eri got her the "decorative" Elephant plate?
:hehehe:

Quote
"Miki-sama," She began, "Can I come to you for...dating advice?" She lowered her head again, embarrassed this time.

I let out an exasperated laugh. "That's it?" Eri nods her head. "Why don't you just ask Sayu or Reina or whoever you're buddy buddy with?"

"They don't know anything about dating so..."
Awww...Eri trusts Miki's opinion.  :)2

Quote
"So you thought 'Hey, I'll ask Miki-sama because she's been around the block' huh?"

"Exactly!"
Oooooh, wrong thing to say!
:scared:

Quote
Eri lowered her head. "Gomen, Miki-sama." She felt so bad. "I'll make up for it, I'll...I'll do anything you want."

I looked at her, an eyebrow raised. "Anything?" I smirked. Eri nodded regretfully.
Methinks Eri just realized the scope of what she said. ;D

Quote
"Tan~" Coos a familar voice. "Don't be so cold-hearted. She was asking for your help."

"Aya, you're freaking killing me here!" I said to the figment of my imagination on my shoulder.
* JFC pictures a chibi "angel Aya" on Miki's shoulder.
:D

Quote
"Just tell him that you like him and just see what happens." I answered her. I don't see how it's difficult for Eri to find someone. Aside from the idol persona, she's sweet and likable, that is, if you get past the weirdness. Any guy would love to go out with a girl like her. And if he doesn't, then there's something wrong with him. Terribly wrong.
This is true. :yep:

Quote
"That's it?" She asked, confused at how simple it is.

I shrugged. What else can I say? That's how Aya and me got together, except, maybe I was little too forward and touchy about it. It's none of your business anyway! I looked at Eri. "It's better than not doing anything at all. Like I said, if you really want something you won't let anything get in the way of it right?"
Also true. :yep: :yep:

Quote
I realized it was Eri's mother. I bowed and apologized. She just smiles and hands me this bento box.

"Here take this with you."

I opened it and inside was the omurice I never got to eat. I got a little misty eyed for a second. Oh man, Eri's mother is awesome! I thanked her as I finally left the house. I sighed in relief, I can breathe now. Since I couldn't wait I decided to eat a piece of it right now.
OMURAISU! :cow:

Quote
As I took my very first bite I realized that I might be coming back to Eri's house again.
Yeah, it'd be nice to visit her mom and little sister now and then.  O0

Chapter 10

[December 31, 2006]

"Hahaha, are you serious?" Laughed our leader, Yoshizawa Hitomi.

"I am." I replied as we entered arm in arm into a small room. Before I can even switch the light on she's already bending over on the nearest table suggestively.

"Hurry, get me out of this." She pleads exhaustedly.

"Not when you're looking like that." I replied, but she just points at her back where a zipper is waiting to be undone. I took hold of it and with a loud zip her dress is now undone. I watched Yossi peel it off her sweaty body and then kicking the dress across the room.

"Now let me do you." Yossi blurted before she catches herself and laughs out loud. She turns me around and pulls the zipper of the same identical dress she was wearing. We've just finished performing on stage. What were you thinking?

"So let me get this straight." Yossi started, "You actually went over to Eri's house AND stayed the night over?"

"Un." I muttered while fumbling to remove my dress. How did Yossi get out of hers so easily?

"Wow, knowing you Miki, I'm surprised you're in the right state of mind right now. That must've been quite an experience."

"Dammit! Why are there so many damn ruffles on this dress!" I yelled. I just wanted to rip this itchy dress off but wardrobe department would have a fit if I messed it up. I then felt Yossi's hands rescuing me from the sea of ruffles, pulling it over my broad shoulders. "Thanks." I said as I kicked it into a pile with Yossi's. "And yes, that was quite an experience. And I'll be happy if I never go back there again."

"Ah, come on, it can't be that bad? Kame-chan is a little weird but a sweet girl."

"Ha! Says the girl who wasn't there." I pointed my finger at Yossi. "I was there, Yossi. I was there. And it was crazy."

"Ah, were you seduced by her dad's charms too?"

"How did you know?"

"That's what happened to Sayu when she went to her house."

"Oh."

"And then she apologized to me for looking at another man. Heh. Crazy kohai crushes."

I shook my head, wiping off my sweat with a towel. We just finished our yearly performance at Kouhaku which explains the extra fugly ruffly dresses. We proceeded to get dressed which was not at all awkward for we change together in the locker rooms for Gatas too. Besides Yossi's not much to look at these days anyway. Her job as leader of Morning Musume and Gatas has finally taken a toll on her. Her muscular but thin sinewy body wore signs of stress, busy schedules, futsal battle scars, and a strategically placed hickey which I'm not going to question. As subleader I felt like I haven't done enough to help her out. I practically took the title away from Aichan who should be subleader according to generation. But I got it out of seniority making me the first to break this so-called authority tradition. Not to mention I've broke tradition before being the only member added without auditioning. I must be really special, ne?

"Tell me that part again about Aya being your conscience and telling you what to do." Yossi laughed.

"Oh please, no. I think I'm crazy for even mentioning it."

"By the way, is she doing ok? It's unfortunate that she caught the flu at this time." Yossi added.

"Uh, yeah, it's a shame." I lied. I had told everyone that Aya was sick which is why our group GAM couldn't perform on Kouhaku.

"So, what ya doing tonight for New Years? Wanna hit the bars with me and some of elder club?"

Sounds tempting, but, "Nah, it's ok. I have check up on Aya and stuff."

"Awwww...so cute." Leader cooed.

"Urusai!"

We finally exited the dressing room where a group of our kohai waited impatiently to go inside and dress out already. We apologized for delaying them and went about our business. Suddenly I heard my named called.

"Miki-samaaaa~~" A familar voice cried.

I turned around reluctantly. "What, Eri?"

Eri skips over to me. She's already dressed and ready to go.

"Eh? How are you dressed already? I thought me and Yossi were first."

"Oh, I was already in the dressing room before you and Yoshizawa-san." She explained.

"Damn, you're fast. We didn't even see you."

"Well, that's our Kame-chan." Yossi goes over to Eri and puts her arm around her. "The fastest turtle in Hello! Project."

Eri smiles at her compliment then turns to me again, holding out a bottle of water. "Here Miki-sama." She offered. She's being overly nice. Suspicious.

I took it. "Thanks." I opened it and took a big gulp when Eri asked,

"Doing anything tonight?"

I choked on the water. It drips down my mouth, neck, and my clean t-shirt.

"Whoa there." Yossi patted my back, snickering a bit. She then tells me she'll meet me in the lobby but not before flashing a sneaky smirk at me as she left.

I glared at her with my wet face then turned it toward Eri. Uh oh, I thought, what's this about now? "Why? Do you have some family tradition for New Years too?" I shrank back in fear hoping she would say no.

"Uh no, I was just asking, besides I've got other plans."

"Oh really? What?"

She looks around to see if anyone's around and gestures me to come closer. So I leaned toward her and she whispered to me. "I have a date."

"Ehhhh? Date?" I exclaimed.

"Shhh!" She sprayed.

"Gross!" I wiped off my right cheek. I smirked at her. "So you finally had the courage to ask him out huh?"

"You don't know how hard that was." She had a pained look on her face.

"See? That wasn't so bad, huh?"

"Without Miki-sama's advice, I couldn't have done it."

"Well it's hard to ignore it when you've texted the crap out of my phone about it every few minutes."

What advice? I would hardly call it an advice. After receiving a spam of Wut shld I do???????/// messages all I simply texted back to her was...

Just do it already! XP Not that 'it', mind you. You know what I mean.

"Sorry." Eri apologized.

"So, what are you two going to do?"

"We're just going to eat out and watch the New Years countdown at Tokyo tower."

Hmm, not bad I thought. I wonder who thought up that. Not Eri, I figured. "Well, you better behave or else you'll deal with me." I said firmly, shaking my fist jokingly.

"Of course."

Of course, it's Eri we're talking. She'd never get into trouble, maybe something stupid but nothing bad. "Good, well have fun." I patted her shoulder as I walked away. I can't believe this is happening. I can't help but feel envious of her. As I made it to the lobby I finally met up with Yossi again.

She smirks at me again. "What did she say to you? Asking you to come over again?" She laughs.

"No, she has a date tonight."

"Date? Kame-chan? Are you serious? What are you teaching her?" She gives me a motherly look which is the last thing I wanted to see from her. "Well, you better look out for her then. You know the rules."

"Yeah, you know the rules." I repeated sarcastically back to her. She knows that we both know about each other and the rules. She quickly slaps my shoulder.

"You know what I mean. Kame-chan seems like the naive type. Gotta look out for her. I just don't want to look like a bad leader. But then again, I am going to be passing it down to you next. Now that I'm afraid of."

"What does that suppose to mean?" I sneered.

Yossi just stuck her tongue at me. "Oh yes, by the way, have you met the new member?"

"Do we have to? These noobs are getting worse each time." As I said that I had accidentally bumped into someone in the hallway. "Hey, watch it!" I cried.

"Sumimasen." The person apologizes and bows. "Konbanwa, Yoshizawa-san and Fujimoto-san. Mitsui Aika desu."

"Who?" I asked, then Yossi whispered into my ear.

"That's the new member Aika, remember?"

"Eh?" I looked at the little thing. She's like a Tsuganaga Momoko clone or something. I pretended I recognized her. "Oh, oh yeah. How are you?"

"I'm fine, thanks. And you?" She spoke so properly.

"No need for the formalities." I said then added. "Except when we're on TV."

"Oh ok, sorry." She bowed again.

An odd looking kid she is. Her voice almost sounds almost like Aya's if she'd been smoking for a couple of years. I hope her voice doesn't turn out like that. I never bothered to watch the audition episode but I hope her singing and dancing is decent since Tsunku picked her and all. But then again it is Tsunku, the one who picked "Miracle", the one who took my solo career away and added me in a group with a bunch of youngins. I claim to no longer hold a grudge about that but every now and then it shakes up my mind.

"You guys were great out there." Aika compliments our performance.

"Thanks." I said. "I guess we'll be seeing you around the studio or something."

"Hai!" She responds and bows to us before leaving.

"Geez, way to make a kohai feel welcome." Yossi remarked.

"What? I said we'll see her around. What else is there to say?"

"You're always acting cold to the new members. Give them a break huh?"

"Ugh, I don't need another Aya conscience." I pouted. "I didn't mean to sound like that. That's just my personality. Besides, you gotta be stern with them a little. We didn't do that to Koharu and look at her, she's spoiled and unruly."

"Yeah, you're right." Yossi realized. "But hey lighten up a bit. Next thing you know we might get foreign members in the group." She said sarcastically. "How are you going to treat them then?"

"From where? China?" I blurted out randomly and cackled. "Ha! If that ever happens I'll prance around in a lolita outfit for a week."

"Whoa!" Yossi howled. "Now that I'd like to see. I will remember that! You said it. No take backs."

I just shrugged it off, it's not going to happen anyway.

This part made me LOL. Now I get the timeline - which just shifted for me considerably from what I thought before... I thought it was post MoMusu Miki -

Yossie rocked in this - all the innuendo cracking her up.

OOOOOHHH KAME-CHAN has a DATE!!! Don't do anything I would do!! >.>

Awesome chapter! Can't wait to see what happens next

PS. The Mittsi stuff was cute (she's just so freakin adorable...)

I'm beginning to wonder when exactly you wrote this. XD Why do things sound eerily familiar though? ;)

So you're running out of chapters, eh? I bet it would be interesting continuing this in that timeline from today's perspective. You'll have to put yourself in the shoes of the you from sometime in 2007.

So Eririn has a date huh? With this "guy". I (as well as I'm sure everyone else) am curious about this. :) What's Miki gonna do for New Year's? She actually gonna be able to find Aya? I have a feeling it's not gonna work out quite like she plans... Be funny if she runs into Eri out on her "date". Fate, I tell ya...

Good luck with resuming the writing. :)

Sorry I just felt like replying to the early comments

adventwriter - oh yeah, I suppose I have to keep mentioning dates or otherwise people would think this is happening now. I know I've written way back in the beginning that Eri just turned 18 but yeah that was way back in the beginning 10 chapters ago. XD

rokun - LoL that would be one helluva miracle if I had written that around the time that happened. But no, when I meant prewritten that's what I've written ahead of time instead of posting, write the next chapter and posting it. Sometimes I have whole chapters written that don't come till later later. I am being challenged having to think way back to 2007, I am certainly doing research watching old videos and checking out the timeline. Luckily I have snippets of things I've written way back then to remind me of how I was thinking about this story at the time, it's been changing everyday I'll tell ya that. haha If I had posted this back then the events would still be fresh in everyone's mind. But posting now I think gives a nostalgic feeling of the good ol' days.

badsaints - hey you remembered about Sayu mentioning Yossi would be her prince! Then again half of the group wanted her to be their prince too.

Hmm, I might've given my story away a bit with those comments. Nevertheless, you can say whatever you want about it but you'll never know how I'll throw it at you guys.  :P And that's the fun of it. :wahaha: I should start compiling references again.

ah, I too have to shift my perception of the time period here.  I was thinking it was at least a year before Aika and the gang showed up.   wiki has nicely informed me Aika's been around for a couple of weeks now XD

I want an omake of Sayu's first encounter with the Kamei household XD   and Reina's too if she's been there in the Ana world.  Just the thought of poor tiny Reina getting lost among piles of Eri's stuff cracks me up XD

Sukoshi - LoL Of course there's going to be some discrepancies in the timeline such as in the last chapter, GAM was part of kouhaku but I made Aya MIA. Omake huh? That could be a possible one shot, but I suck at one shots. But I think I might have something better if I get around to it. :P

rndmnwierd - Yup, poor Miki. :wahaha:

strawb3rrykream - LoL Gotcha! :P

*phew* I almost had a crisis just now. I had left my portable hard drive where my story is stored at school and didn't realize it until it was 10pm so I sped my butt back to school and was lucky to find it still connected to the computer. zOMG that would suck big time.

But anyway, next part!

Chapter 11

[Later that night]

I sighed. It's almost New Years, I thought. Why the hell am I sitting here doing nothing? Sounds familiar?

I've been getting calls and messages all night from everyone wishing me a Happy New Year or asking me to hang out at bars or whatever. I would but I feel so miserable right now and alcohol would probably just aggravate it more. I decided to clean up my already clean apartment. I got the duster and proceeded to dust around the place. This should take my mind off of everyone's happy and merry time. After dusting off my last tchotchke on the shelf, I found myself lazy to put up the duster. Aya would've nagged about it at this point, however I have a skill no one knows about. Across the room behind me was the bin where I kept the duster. Without looking, I chucked the duster behind me and heard a clang. I then turned around to find the duster had landed directly into the bin perfectly.

"Yes!" I congratulated myself. "I am the awesome!"

Yeah, I have this weird ability to hurl objects into their place without looking. It doesn't work all the time, only when I'm stressed out or lonely it seems. Suddenly my cellphone rings. I ran to it and picked it up.

"Moshi, moshi? Aya?" I answered, hoping it'd be her.

"Miki-sama~" Eri's voice screeched through the speaker like feedback.

My face sulked. "Hey Eri, what's up?"

"Are you out? Waiting for the countdown at Tokyo Tower?"

"Un." I lied.

"You're here too? Where are you?"

I panicked for a moment. "Uh, aren't you on a date?"

"Yes, he just went to buy a couple of party favors for the celebration."

My lip curled in jealousy. "How nice. Well, don't go looking for me, just enjoy your date."

"Aww, ok. Thanks Miki-sama! Happy New Year!"

"Un. You too."

I hung up and turned off my phone. I don't want any more disturbances tonight. I sat on my couch and turned on the TV. Seems like every TV station is reporting from Tokyo Tower. The crowd is so huge and I almost regretted not going. What a great opportunity to do more groping hit and runs. I laid myself out on the couch (like a beached whale, Aya would say), and closed my eyes. Maybe I can sleep through the coming of the new year. I dug between the couch cushions and felt something. I pulled it out. It's a dark brown patterned ankle sock with a huge hole on the heel and big toe. I dropped it on the floor in disgust. Ugh, must be Eri's missing sock from a few days ago. It looks like something decomposed. But, I realized, as I recall, the other sock she wore was pink. I shook my head, and reminded myself that it's Eri. Only Eri would do that. Suddenly I hear another phone ringing. It's coming from my room. Aya's! I ran to my room and picked up the phone from the dresser.

"Moshi, moshi? Aya?"

"Yours truly." I can sense her smiling on the other line.

I smiled. Finally, something good. "How are you?"

"I'm fine. You?"

"Ok. Missing you. Of course. Where are you calling from?"

"The hotel phone." She replied.

"Hotel?" I repeated and suddenly hundreds of unnecessary thoughts sprung up.

"Now don't go searching every hotel in Japan to find me now." She laughs. "Besides, it's a private number. It can't be called back."

"Gee, thanks for thinking about me." I said hurtfully.

"Oh, come on. And how about you? I couldn't contact your cellphone, so I had to call mine."

"Well, I didn't want anyone to bother me so I turned it off."

"Oh, didn't want me to call either?" She pouted.

"No, I didn't mean to."

"Awww, aren't you suppose to be out with some of the elder club?"

"Nah, don't feel like it."

"No? Come on Tan, it's New Years Eve."

"You mean aren't WE suppose to be out on New Years Eve?"

"I know. Sorry." She apologized.

"And you? Are you out?" She better not be, I thought.

"No." She replied.

"Good. Then we'll celebrate by not celebrating."

I hear her laughing on the other end. She agreed and here we were lazing out on New Years Eve. We spent the rest of the night talking about everything and anything like the old times. I brought up about her being my conscience from the last few days. Of course, she laughed her ass off, cackling till she snorted loudly. I wish I could see her face as she did that. She figured that happened because I really missed her so much (no duh!) and that something's gotta keep me in check while she's gone. Her magic powers on me is working, she says. I rolled my eyes. Sure, it's working all right, if you don't count that gropefest on Christmas Eve. And after we ran out of things to talk about I sighed out that I wished she was here with me. Aya felt the same but she wanted to take care of her situation first.

"And how's that coming along?" I asked.

"I think I'm going to try to negotiate something with Tsunku and my agency." She replied.

"Like what? Bribery? Boycotting? Blackmail?" I joked.

"Tan! Why do you have to say it like that?" She got annoyed. "I just want to make a proposal to them that will hopefully shift my career in a new direction."

Ah, so that was the reason for her disappearance. She wants to change her career direction, her way. Seems a bit extreme but it's Aya. She can get away with murder if she wanted to. I admire her ambitious spirit sometimes, I thought. But sometimes I just thinks she's just trying to find more ways to feed her already huge ego.

"I'm sure you can convince them. You just have that power. You are The Matsuura Aya after all."

"Hush!" She hissed but I know she's taking it in, smiling on the other end.

I chuckled tiredly until she reminded me that the countdown's about to start. I tuned in on my TV and watched along.

"10, 9, 8..." We both counted down. "7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1! Happy New Year!!!"

I watched all the commotion from the crowd. Confetti and party favors littered the streets. Oh, what an opportunity missed! My hands unconsciously grabbed at nothing. Somewhere in that mess is Eri and her date. I hope she's doing ok. It is late now, she better go home straight after. I can imagine her falling asleep in the taxi or train on the way home. Wait. She can't fall asleep! Not when she's with a guy! I should call her and check up on her and-

"Love you, Tan." Aya interrupts.

My thoughts dissolved. I'm always happy to hear those words. "Love you too, Aya." I smiled back.

I then heard her yawning. I wish I could see that face too.

"Tired? Me too." I yawned after. "You should get some rest then."

"Un. You too. I just want to tell you that I'm fine and don't worry about me."

"How can I not worry about you when you're not here with me?" I pouted.

She chuckles. "I'll call you again, ok?"

"Un."

"Goodnight."

"Un."

"Sweetdreams."

"Un."

"Lazyhead."

"Love you to--hey!"

She steals my cackle and snorts again. "So cute. Bye, Tan. Muah!"

I smiled as I closed her phone and placed it on the table in front of me. Ah, you silly girl. I suppose things will be straightened out soon and she'll come back to me. I yawned loudly. I didn't feel like going to my room and decided to crash on my couch tonight. I know it's going to be bad on my back but hey when you're tired, you're tired. I took an accent pillow on the couch and hugged it across my chest then closed my eyes. Suddenly Aya's phone rang again. I turned my head, surprised. She's calling again? I sat up and I picked up the phone from the table. I snickered. Maybe her "magic powers" told her I was sleeping on the couch and she's going to tell me to go to my room. I finally answered.

"Missed me already?" I laughed.

"Hello? Matsuura-san?" A man's voice answered.

My face scrunched up in confusion. A man? Who could this be? It sure doesn't sound like Keita or anyone else I know. I could faintly hear people and music in the background. Must be at some party. I disguised my voice.

"Hai, Matsuura Aya desu~ who is this?" I tried to do my best impression of Aya, batting eyelashes and all.

"Uh, this is..To...ji." What?? The reception was going bad. "Sorry...late." His voice skipped.

"You're cutting up!" I told him. He apologized and moved somewhere else. The background noise muffled a bit.

"Sorry." He apologized. "Uh, I'm sure you're wondering how I got your number."

I went back to my regular voice but a bit meaner. "Yes, how did you get this number?"

"I got it from a friend of a friend." He answered vaguely. "I was wondering if you were still out, maybe we could hang out with some friends or something?"

Hang out? With who? What friends? I sneered at his offer but answered, "Uh, I'm sorry but you kinda caught me as I was about to sleep." I partially lied, trying to make him feel guilty. It worked.

"Oh, I'm so sorry!" He kept apologizing. "I shouldn't have called unannounced."

Indeed you are unannounced I growled in my head. "It's ok, bye."

"Uh, wait!" He tried to stop me but I hung up already.

Who does he think he is? How does he have Aya's number? Does she know him? Who is he anyway? Dammit I forgot to ask for his name again. To..ji, Toji? That was what I got out of that. I immediately tried to call Aya's number again but all I got was the disconnected signal.

"Now don't go searching every hotel in Japan to find me now. Besides, it's a private number. It can't be called back." Aya's voice replayed in my head.

Hmm, what did she mean by that? Suddenly all these stupid thoughts popped up now and I was about to go crazy again. No, she couldn't be! She said she was tired, she couldn't be out partying. But it's a hotel! Who knows what could be happening? I grunted loudly, shaking off these crazy thoughts. I turned her phone off and threw it next to my off phone. I don't want to hear from anyone else tonight! It's only thirty minutes passed midnight and this excited energy took away my sleepiness. I hustled toward my storage closet and brought out every cleaning supply I have. Looks like the apartment's going to be sterilized tonight.

Oh, and Happy New Year.

Omigod who is that guy? I was all happy with the gropefest mentioning and Eri's decomposing sock but then at the end I immediately zoomed in on the phone call. What da ef man, what da ef? Is this guy another Keita?
