Thank you Hockey Hall of Famer Rod Phillips for 37 Year. 3542 Oilers games called.  I remember smuggling a pocket radio to listen to games as a kid xD Could never afford to go to games, and never allowed to watch the games on TV. Hall of Famer. Loved how the Oilers raised his number to the rafters beside the other Oiler legends Gretzky, Kurri, Coffey, Messier, Anderson, Hamilton. He really is not only the Voice of the Oilers, but the Voice of Edmonton. He called every single historical moment from The 5 Stanley Cups to the Cinderella run in 2006.

Truly a class act, back when the media was just a part of the team. None of the sharks tabloid media you see today, who just say bullshit just to get a rise. I was listening to peeps calling in saying how Rod Phillips would come down to talk to the fans, the guy's mom in a wheelchair and he'd introduced players to the season ticket holders. I don't have a dope story like that, but I saw him in the concession area in between periods and before the Oilers tribute to Messier.

They have a scholarship for radio students at NAIT. Truly deserving to THE best play by play guy in the league. His passion, like the ultimate homer complaining about the refs but he would call an opposing goal with the same kinda passion. You could tell how bad he wanted to call a GOOOOOOOOOOOOALL tonite. Everyone would mute the TV and turn on the radio, even if there was a delay because he was just THAT GOOD.
