Hana at some pachinko parlour. I watched the entire game she was playing (?) and still don't know what the hell was going on.
i bet after you leave a pachinko parlour you'll fail any drug test. it's like catching a contact high from all the lights and sounds.
When I lived in japan, I went to pachinko parlours a few times. I never played pachinko - gambling is not one of my vices.
The noise level inside a big pachinko parlour is incredible. A big one might have 100 or 200 machines (all going at full volume).
Most of the players are middle aged, or older, dudes. The smoke a lot! So, those places always stink of stale cigarette smoke.
I think, the machine she is playing is kind of like a fruit machine (one-armed bandit, slot machine, etc.) .
You see sets of three numbers come up on the screen - 2-5-5, 8-6-4, etc. - certain number combinations win, others lose.
You get win credits. If you keep winning the credits keep building up. If you lose, you can use the win credits to keep playing.
At least, I think that's what's happening. ikari456 might be the best guy to ask, his Japanese is waaaay better than mine.
I had a Japanese friend who told me he spent the 4 years of his university course playing pachinko everyday.
