Watanabe: I’ve been aiming for the 1st place throughout this one year, so honestly I have frustrated feelings that I got 3rd place. But this 1 year that I’ve been aiming higher with everyone like this was satisfying, so I was very happy.

It was a sincere smile from the bottom of her heart. Completely different with when she was still being vexed heedless of the people around, or trying to be strong and hiding her real feelings.

Last year when she went up to 2nd place, she declared without any hesitation “From now on, us young generation has to be the leading one. I want to take the 1st place (next year)!”. Not going against that resolution, in order to become a suitable presence for 1st place, she has tried harder than anyone. For the single right after Maeda Atsuko’s graduation, “UZA”, she was taken her center position because of her dance compatibility. She was frustrated and depressed. She cried.
