I don't think it will be too long. The other teams are playing catch up but money can only buy you so much. Eventually they will catch them - not this season and probably not the next. I don't have my crystal ball on me but I don't expect to see Chel$ki dominate as they have done in the 2008/09 season.

lol I'm sure Ashley Cole isn't too pleased. Chelsea have given up going after him and the Arsenal chairman has stated that he'll never play in the club again, and with 2 years still left on his contract, he may be twiddling his thumbs for some time. Just as well, I don't like him anyway

That's what he deserves for putting money before loyalty in my opinion.

Manchester City (my team) keeper David James is looking for a move to Portsmouth because he's got a girlfriend down there.. leaves us a bit stuck. If he does go soon I can see us having a keeper crisis throughout the season.

I don't think there will be a big problem since they seem to sign Andreas Isaksson from Rennes. He's a great keeper and hasn't disappointed yet in the swedish national team or in the teams he's played in up till now.

This still has to my favorite line of the year:

Zidane's mother has declared she wants Materazzi's "balls on a platter" after he allegedly called Zidane the "son of a terrorist whore" in the World Cup final.

yeah, that line is already a classic daigong :) she was sick in the hospital just some days before that and like the first thing she says is that she wants materazzi's balls on a platter xD

Charity Shield baaaabyyyy! Chelsea's going down! Without Cech in between the posts, Liverpool's chances are looking bright. That is if  Benitez doesn't use the dreaded 4-5-1...We need more people in the box dammit.

Big Anti-Chelsea Fan. Cech was never a good keeper. If it weren't for John Terry, R.Carvalho and all of Chelsea playing defence, he wouldn't have such a reputation. Don't believe me? World Cup performance tells all!!!

Wonder how Bellamy is going to change the front? Hopefully he's got the goal scoring touches Liverpool needs. As for Cisse, got milk?

spreading the usa-chan love....i mean darkness(thanks to JFC)

From what I've seen during the friendlies and the latest game againts Maccabi Haifa, he's injecting a lot of pace to Liverpool's game, I mean Cisse was fast, but Bellamy makes more intelligent (fast) runs while Cisse gets caught offside far too often for my tastes.

Can't wait till Fowler gets fit because I think that Bellamy and Fowler could make a deadly combination up front.

I'm a huge Chelsea hater, but I don't Cech is that bad. In my view, the most over-rated player in Chelsea is Lampard, I mean he's only good on paper because Makelele does all the crappy stuff and Drogba creates so much chances for him. I'm looking forward for Chelsea to crumble in the premiership this year.

from my point of view cech is one of the 3 best keepers in the world (based on last season). that he didn't perfrom well in the world cup is also becuase the tjech team wasn't as good as people expected them to be. their defence wasn't too good.

och bellamy has never been a great scorer. he's incredibly fast and when he's on fir ehe can score a lot but I've often seen him miss open chances. but I'm sure he can contribute to liverpools team this year. crouch as target and bellamy running around will cause problems for the opponent defence :) and with 30 minutes left of the game they can put in old fowler and let him score some easy goals :D

and Inter bought both Crespo and Ibrahimovic..damn..I wanted Ibra to join milan :( now my milan has to continue the searc hfor a world class striker. hope the rumores of them wanting fatso Ronaldo isn't true T_T

Shevchenko is a man to be feared in the premiership.

Anyone who was in position could've scored the goal as It was a free header and it was mostly Bellamy's work. Crouch's still a waste of money IMO.

Being around 13 feet tall also helps! As much as I hate Liverpool, I am glad to see Chelsea get off to a bad start and have another trophy scalped away from them.

Cisse also has an appalling first touch for a player of his stature. true, he was cursed with bad luck whilst with our lot (ie, the Reds), and he plays better in a 4-4-2 (which he never had much opportunity to do )and he was bought by Houllier after a very long chase, and i have the strong impression Rafa held that against him, but still: his first touch was so often poor it's just not funny. he'd sprint past a defender to run onto a thru ball and then... knock the ball out for a goal kick :tumble:

i can't say i'm hugely pleased about Rafa's purchases - Bellamy and Pennant have more than a little form, y'know - but if the result is that we play 4-4-2 with two wingers more frequently this season, i won't care.

Not a good start to my fantasy football team. :( Not that I'm doing bad, but Fowler's penalty put a few rivals ahead of me. What I'm surprised at is how many people thought Fowler was actually first team worthy!

I hear people are saying it's early days, but at the end of the day, 3 points can make all the difference. United are doing brilliantly so far. I hope this talk of signing Tevez still comes through though. I only hope Fergie hasn't seen the performances of Saha and Solskjaer last night and thought we could do without a forward. I'm happy with them sure, but my mind will be more at ease if we do get another forward to rely on. Champions League draw at 5 tonight!

Plus Roy Keane is named new manager of Sunderland. I think my face was something like this when I heard the news :o

P.P.S. in a rather unexpected turnaround, I'm now top of the league table! I brought Berbatov to the team, and his goal and assist to a goal on Tuesday night did the world of good!

*EDIT*

The Champions League draw:

Group A
Barcelona
Chelsea
Werder Bremen
Levski Sofia

Group B
Inter Milan
Bayern Munich
Sporting Lisbon
Spartak Moscow

Group C
Liverpool
PSV Eindhoven
Bordeaux
Galatasaray

Group D
Valencia
Roma
Olympiakos
Shakhtar Donetsk

Group E
REal Madrid
Lyon
Steaua Bucharest
Dynamo Kiev

Group F
Manchester United
Celtic
Benfica
FC Copenhagen

Group G
Arsenal
Porto
CSKA Moscow
Hamburg

Group H
AC Milan
Lille
AEK Athens
Anderlecht
