well, it would be marvelous if they do 2 shots, but I`m happy with whatever they make. don`t even know all the girls` names yet, so I can`t demand things.  :nervous actually I only hope they don`t do handshakings in an AKB "fucking ten badly cloked seconds" style.  :)

Announced at PASSPO x predia x palet's end of year show tonight.. From 2013, PASSPO will start using the name “PASSPO☆” instead of ぱすぽ☆!

PASSPO will also go on a nation-wide tour next year in Japan!

They also announced they will release their 7th major single on February 13 2013. It's a sakura-themed sad love song and the musical theme is digi-rock. The title of the single is 'Sakura Komachi'. I'll update this page with more details as they come out http://passpo.wordpress.com/2012/12/29/sakura-komachi/

Tracklist:
1. サクラ小町
2. No.1 Boy
3. サクラ小町 (Instrumental)
4. No.1 Boy (Instrumental)

I'm excited, I'm always a sucker for sad love songs - especially sakura themed ones because those kinds of idol singles are always guaranteed to be sad. And I love sappy things that make me sap. :P It'll be interesting to hear how the song sounds considering the musical theme lol..

Also I don't really understand why they felt the need to officially change the name when fans refer to them as "PASSPO" a lot anyway online. Maybe because predia and palet write theirs in English so it makes it 'neater'? I probably explained that badly. :P

PASSPO performed two new songs tonight. 'Sakura Komachi' and 'NO.1 BOY' which might be a b-side?

I liked both songs, specially the beside (?) "No.1 Boy" that has a intro that reminds A LOT "Smells Like Teen Spirit". "Sakura komachi" is a great song to perform wotagei.  :twothumbs

they sang for the first time live the song "Kimi iro no samba" (if I understood it correctly). I like it a lot, despite being very different from their usual sound. and I like it even more now, since Nachu has a part in it.

and this leads me to a question: is it my impression or the group really has two "types" of girls, the ones that sing more and the ones that usually only dance (sacochii, nachu, yukii and annya)? I`m asking this because so far I`ve only seen Nachu have solo parts in "kimi iro no samba" and "material girl". it`s hard when you have so few opportunities to shout your oshimen`s name.  :(

and another question, to the folks who already participated in handshaking events of the group: do they always limit the number of tickets you can get (today there was a limit of three, no matter how much you spent)?? this sucked hard, specially because if they did like other groups do, I would have received enough tickets to talk with all the girls.  :(

^^ Thanks for all the info :).

^ Awesome, glad you were able to go. For Tokyo concerts they have a limit of three tickets, for shows further away like in Sapporo or Osaka they will increase the ticket limit to five. I think it depends on how many people they expect at the concert. Unfortunately if they didn't have a ticket limit the events would last a really long time. That would be really hard on some members, like Mako-tee who gets really sleepy after the concert. Their handshake/2 shot events go way past midnight if they schedule one after a night show. My other favorite group SUPER GiRLS doesn't do anything after their concerts (except maybe a high-touch if you buy a certain item), so I guess that's why it doesn't bother me too much. The goods they were selling looked pretty cool though (they were on their blog), I liked the towel, the bracelets, and buttons.

Did you go to predia or palet's free show? Did they open for PASSPO, or did they just have their separate free concert?

you know, I don't think that time or getting tired is really a problem since 1- they did the handshaking before the show (what I found strange, generally it's done after...) 2- they had the whole day for it. the schedule was

11 am = goods selling start
2 pm = palet free show
3:30 pm = predia free show
3 ~ 4:30 pm = passpo handshaking (fuck! I wanted to see Predia's live but it was being done in the same moment)
4:30 ~ 6 pm = palet and predia handshaking/sign

so they could very well give the handshaking more time and allow people to have more tickets.  I'll compare with Afilia, that is a group that is doing concerts in similar venues recently. (shibuya kokaido = 2000 people. stellar ball = 1800 people) they never limit the number of tickets you can get, do always at least two activities (like group 2 shot and handshaking) and do it after the concert. yep,  it really ends up late, but nothing to really concern about.

the show was awesome, but aside that point, other thing that bugged me was the huge delay (almost half an hour) for it to start, because the staff were really slow to let us enter... (detail: it was raining and we were outside the venue) well, it could have been worst. they could have started without us there.  :panic:

well, being optimistic, this limitation will help me spend few money in the next concerts.

on a side note, I'm starting to feel sorry for Nachu. I'm giving her bad luck, incredible. at TIF she lost her shoe, now she had problems with her mic during "Uhae" and had to run to backstage and return just near the end of it.  :(

That's too bad about the schedule. Whoever was in charge didn't put a lot of thought into it. They could have moved palet and predia's lives to earlier in the day, or scheduled PASSPO's handshake after their concert (like they normally do), or kept that schedule and moved predia's concert after PASSPOs. Predia is amazing and they could use more fans. Sucks about the rain too. I also had to wait in the rain at PASSPO's Anniversary concert last year. That actually made it more memorable, but I remember thinking how unorganized and inefficient their staff is.

you know, for me it's difficult to make comparisons with past shows of the group and so, since I'm a new passenger in the flight... but I can tell about the experiences I had with other groups (raging from AKB to PPP! Pixion) and comparing with them, I gotta say Passpo has one of the worst staff/management I have saw till now. I'm very critic regarding AKB events cuz they make BILLIONS of yens and by doing so they should offer to us, fans, top quality events. Passpo of course is way lower than that level, but is indeed a very well established group with a good amount of followers. they surely make a decent money out of it, so I expected a more well organized show/event. the delay, the schedule... ah! another things that happened and denote poor management: during the handshaking, that was being done in the second floor of the venue, the girls were placed like in the middle of the corridor. it was obviously a waste of space making the lanes of fans wait in the stairs and even outside. just in the middle of the thing they realized it and moved them backwards. of course it caused some stress moving them and all the stuff during the event. another thing: some girls of course have smaller lanes. after some time waiting needlessly outside, they realized the error that was to keep people waiting in a single lane and let us, people that were going to shake hands with Nachu or Yukii enter skipping it. but after that, we could very easily re-enter in one of the other lanes and shake hands with other girls, cutting in front of the poor people still waiting in the greater lane. (I confess that I did it, talking with Morishi without having to wait a single minute  :twothumbs)

if we were talking about an obscure group, I wouldn't mind at all with these details, but since its Passpo...  :smhid

------

people are already concerned that the group is getting more expensive to follow, since in the WING campaign you could buy a cd for 2500 yens that would come with a ticket for a concert and handshaking event. now, for Sakura komachi, you have to spend 3500 yens for the cd with the concert ticket and 5000 for the special box that comes with the event ticket. the fuck! was Passpo bought by Akimoto and I'm not aware of it?

and talking about Sakura komachi, the beside is called "wish on a star", according the Universal Music site. so I wonder from where they took the "No.1 Boy" song...

an article with some photos (three) of the concert http://www.barks.jp/news/?id=1000085984

That reminds me of something I wrote last year XD
http://passpogasm.wordpress.com/2011/12/23/passpos-2nd-anniversary-akasaka-blitz-part-3/
Maybe disorganization and waiting around is just part of the PASSPO "experience". Of course we don't want to disuade anyone from going to a concert, it's just good to know what to expect from the event.

hey man, first of all let me congratulate for your blog. it`s so profissional comparing to mine.  :nervous

so I see that this bad management is not something new... well, of course the show is great and they are super kind personally, but what is wrong... is wrong.  :nervous I will not become a hater just because I`ve got my "No Nachu, No life" shirt now. ROFL

to tell the truth, the two big things that bothered me (and look like that they will accompany me) are the event tickets limitation and the strict "flight rules" (no moshing, no diving and so on). this time it was at Kokaido that has seats, so nevermind. but my next flight will be at Stellar Ball that is a standing stage, so I would like to "have some fun". you know, for me it`s really weird to hear songs like "Dear my Friends" without moshing, since I grew hearing punk rock and so. add to that the fact at concerts of other groups like BiS or ShizuKaze & Kizuna we are allowed to do it.  :(

as a senpai  :D could you tell me if this rule is really applied or it`s just there and people do whatever they want?

^ Sorry for the late reply. The rules are enforced and it made a big difference. The first concert I went to in July 2011 at Shibuya AX was one of the last concerts they did without any rules (they did two more concerts at Shinjuku Blaze a couple weeks later and then announced the new rules at their staff blog). Incidentally the concert I went to was also Natsumi's birthday concert.  When I went back a couple months later in November the rules were in full affect - no more moshing, girls had there own area, and there was a "jumping" area in the back. Totally different experience. PASSPO has a lot of girl fans and the Shibuya AX concert was totally out of control and I imagine a lot of them got injured or just really annoyed at that concert, so I think that is why the changes happened. I think a girl's area would have fixed the problem, but then they also banned moshing on top of that. I didn't go to one of their concerts in 2012 though, so maybe things have changed a litte since. Steller Ball concert is in March right? That would be awesome, what other concerts are going on then?

at this moment, I know they have three one-man scheduled in Tokyo: january 26th, february 24th and march 30th (as part of their national tour). the problem is that those first two shows are limited to the fan club members. did they always made this kind of thing? it sucks cuz it limits a lot my chances to see them... have to wait till the end of march...

about the rules... oh man, now I wish I had become a fan earlier.  :( If they really made this change thinking in the girl fans... they are pretty stupid, since in pop punk and skacore concerts there are always plenty of girls, plenty of moshing action and I don't remember seeing anyone getting hurt. in fact, that is one major factor why I like moshing in Japan: people seems to enjoy and have more fun than actually "going there to throw some punches" like it's common in the west. I remember back in the old days at my country, if someone falls he is promptly lynched by the mass. while in Japan people stop jumping and help the person to get up.

So, I'm back from Japan, well actually been back for a while! Managed to grab the Passpo tickets after all for the live at Nagoya. Much thanks for the help.

The Passo live was pretty amazing. Probably the best concert experience I had this trip. We were allowed to shake hands with one of the members after the concert, chose Makoto. Again, easily one of the best handshake experience ever. Could tell why she was so popular, despite being hidden on the stage for most of the show. Anyways, did a more detailed write-up of the encounter over here. http://supermerlion.com/nagoya-autumn-2012-day-11/

^^ The fan club complicates things a little. The FC actually used to be a bigger deal when they first started, and over the years they've gradually reduced the amount of FC concerts  and perks. Like they no longer do "frequent flyer mileage" (fans used to scan a QR code at the entrance to the concert and get points for the concerts they go to). There's only a few FC-only concerts a year though. Another thing is sometimes tickets go on sale a few weeks in advance for FC members (a lot of groups do this for their FC members, but it's more of an issue for overseas PASSPO fans because these tickets don't go on resale as much, so if you are buying a normal ticket it's going to be a higher number).

edit: The photo seats are pretty cool, for hardcore fans I think it's worth it for 10,000 Y. If I was going to both shows that day, I'd consider it for one show and then go on the first floor for the other.

thanks a lot for your precious info as always.  :thumbsup

looks like they saw my rant and decided to open the february concert to general public too! yay!  :cow: with a special second floor seat that allows you to take photos and all.  :O

oh and they released the covers for the upcoming single and a preview of the clip

nothing special but I couldn`t let it pass the fact that despite having only nine girls, looks like my flopped oshimen in AKB has more screentime than poor Nachu.  :sweatdrop:
