Chapter 11 “That’s a terrible picture, Mittsi, you better delete it.”
“But why~ I think you look fine, Jun-senpai…”
Aika stuck out her bottom lip and pouted as Junjun shot a stern glare at her. Linlin just grinned next to her girlfriend, knowing that the current mini argument was not such a serious one.
“You took it while I was talking,” the panda snapped. “You know how much I hate that.”
“But that’s what makes the picture so much more natural!” Aika squealed. She whipped around to the shorter Chinese girl and held up the camera. “Linlin, say something!”
“I love you, Mittsi!” the short-haired girl exclaimed as the camera flash popped in her face.
“Ah, this one came out so nicely too!” Aika giggled, looking at the picture of her girlfriend with a big grin and her hands up to her chest in the shape of a heart. “Oh, and I love you too~”
“Stop being so corny in public,” Junjun grinned. “What am I going to do with you two…”
The three girls continued to walk down the school hallway as the rest of the students moved out of their way. Determining that Aika’s photo fest was over, Junjun naturally slid into her original position in the middle as the two kouhais stepped back, flanking their group leader. The older panda nodded along to the girls in the hallway who waved or expressed some sort of greeting towards her. Although these three girls were yankiis, they didn’t terrorize their own school in any way, especially after Junjun came to power. In fact, the leader preferred to describe her group has the protectors of her school. Since she was smart as well as mature and reliable, the teachers didn’t bother with them as much as they did while Reina was in power. Because of the panda’s gentle and social nature, she was quite popular amongst the students at Morning Gakuen as well.
Suddenly, Junjun spotted a familiar girl in front of her, a couple feet away. She had long black hair that stretched down the back of her ironed uniform. She made a turn and entered a classroom, revealing the side of her face in the process. The panda’s curious expression turned into a smirk as she realized who it was. She started to debate in her mind whether to make a move or not; deciding that this was almost a golden opportunity, Junjun chose to go on the hunt.
She marched up to the door of the classroom and discovered that it was for 2nd years. So the black-haired new girl was in the same grade as her… Aika and Linlin raised their eyebrows and stared at their leader.
“Um, senpai?” Linlin started. “This isn’t your classroom…”
“Forget classroom,” Aika continued. “Lunch period isn’t even over yet. Let’s go do something else.”
“No, I have something I need to take care of,” Junjun grinned. “You guys can wait out here and watch if you want.”
With that, the tall panda slid the door open and took a step in. The girls in the classroom turned around and let out a couple squeals and gasps as they realized who their visitor was. Some called out a casual greeting, to which Junjun responded to with a wave or a smile.
“Junjun!” one girl exclaimed, skittering towards the Chinese girl. “Long time, no see!”
“Yeah, it’s been a while, Chii-chan,” the panda grinned.
“You seem well, Jun!” another girl smiled, also standing up.
“You too, Ume-chan,” the panda responded again.
“What brings you to our classroom, Junjun?” another girl said, giggling. “Was it because you missed me~?”
“Sorry, Megu, I have a different business today,” Junjun smirked.
She turned and shot a quick glance towards her followers at the door, who were still merely staring at their leader with a confused expression. The panda then scanned the room quickly and smiled when she spotted the one she had been looking for. The black-haired girl was glaring at her as though looks could kill; she was definitely less than excited to see the yankii again.
“Yo~ Ojou-chan!” Junjun called, swaggering over to the transfer student’s desk and bending down a little to face the upset girl. “So you’re in this class, huh? I guess we’re in the same year, then.”
“Jun, you know the new girl?” the girl called Megumi asked.
“Depends on your definition of the word, ‘know’,” the yankii grinned. “She won’t tell me her name so would somebody else mind telling me instead?”
“That’s rude,” Chinami scolded the new girl, who glared back. “You should introduce yourself properly when you meet someone. Junjun, her name is Michishige Sayumi.”
“Michishige Sayumi?” Junjun smiled. “That’s a cute name.”
She waited for some sort of response from the black-haired girl, but she kept her gaze down on her empty desk, refusing to interact with the other girls.
“Don’t pay attention to her, Junjun,” Megumi sighed. “She’s really antisocial.”
“You’re not going to make friends here if you keep acting like that, Shige-chan,” the girl called Ume-chan warned.
“Oh whatever, Erika, she can do whatever she wants,” Chinami rolled her eyes. “Jun, we should go hang out sometimes again! We all kind of miss you~”
As the cute girl smiled and linked her arms with the panda, the other two girls also started to chatter at high-speed, trying to flirt with their visitor. Having had enough, the new girl slammed her hands down on her desk and got up. As the rest of the class watched with wide eyes, Sayumi stormed out of the classroom, pushing Aika and Linlin away in the process.
“She’s so rude!” Chinami huffed. “It’s a shame, since she has such a cute face…”
“It’s okay, we don’t need her,” Megumi grinned.
“I might take you up on that…” the panda mumbled.
“What?”
“Oh, nothing,” Junjun quickly smiled, hiding all emotions. “I’m sorry, but you’ll have to excuse me, girls. I’m on a mission.”
“Ooh~ mission!” Chinami giggled. “Sounds mysterious.”
“Call us whenever you feel like hanging out,” Erika said, winking.
Junjun nodded at each girl and swiftly left the room. As soon as she reached the hallway, Aika and Linlin fell back into their ranks again. But Junjun held up one hand and shook her head, indicating that she was going on this “mission” alone.
The panda quickly jogged down the hallway after the black-haired girl, who showed no signs of slowing down. Junjun had to grab Sayumi’s arm and whirl her around to finally get her attention.
“Hey, will you wait up?” the panda said. “I just wanted to say hi.”
“Hi,” Sayumi said. She pulled her arm out of Junjun’s grasp. “Good-bye.”
As the black-haired girl turned again, something dropped on the ground. Before Sayumi could reach for it, Junjun quickly picked it up first. It was a white cell phone, covered with little sticker decorations of bunnies. Her key was also the head of a fluffy bunny. Intrigued, Junjun flipped open the cell phone and held it up a little in the air so Sayumi couldn’t reach. The screensaver was a picture of a stuffed rabbit.
“Bunny again?” the panda laughed. “You know, Ojou-chan, I have a better nickname for you now. I think I’ll call you Usa-chan.”
“Give me that!” Sayumi growled, snatching her phone away and tucking it away inside her uniform pocket, blushing. “And don’t you try to be familiar with me, low-class.”
“Ouch, what’s with that social status excuse again?” Junjun smirked. “I just like making new friends, that’s all.”
“You mean new friends
with benefits,” Sayumi growled. “I hear what those girls talk about in class. And it’s repulsive! You’re the type of person that doesn’t care who is in bed with you, as long as it’s another girl. It’s disgusting!”
“Hey, they may be friends with benefits but we’re not sex friends. You’re going overboard there, Usa-chan.”
Junjun pouted as she took a step closer to the new girl. Sayumi backed away until she hit the wall.
“Don’t come closer!”
“Were you jealous of those girls, Usa-chan?” Junjun smirked. “If you want, I can become your friend too…”
“As if!”
Sayumi raised her right hand as if to slap the panda’s face but Junjun grabbed her wrist before she could do so. The bunny struggled to break free but the yankii was obviously stronger; she leaned in close to her ear and whispered.
“Relax, Usa-chan, it was a joke,” she chuckled. Then, her voice grew more serious. “But I suggest you don’t make me angry. There’s a limit to my patience.”
Junjun smirked and nibbled the new girl’s ear gently as she lightly flicked her tongue over Sayumi’s skin. The bunny gasped as she pushed the taller girl Unconsciously, her free left hand flew up and slapped Junjun across the face. Then, without another word, she ran down the hallway, down the stairs, and disappeared.
The panda rubbed her right cheek that was turning red now. Her two kouhais appeared behind her. Aika whistled.
“Looks like you just got rejected, Jun-senpai,” she snickered. “I’m sorry, but that was a major burn. The girl’s got spunk.”
“Well, we can’t have the rejection just lying there,” Junjun grinned, flexing her jaws. “It ruins my record.”
“You mean your record of getting every girl you ever hit on?” Linlin questioned. “You know, I’m still not sure if that’s something to take pride in.”
“Aside from my record,” Junjun continued, “the new girl is interesting. I think I’m the loser in our little battle today…”
But I won’t lose next time, Usa-chan. Rabbits are fast; but once they get caught, they can never escape. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
