(Group) NewS

Uchi and Kusano deserved to be punished, yes. But it was not necessary for them to be downgraded all the way to trainees. Kusano aside, Uchi has been suspended for more than a year. That's not punishment enough? That's not price enough to pay for his stupidity? If anything, Kusano should be the only one being downgraded. Why? Simply because even with what happened to Uchi, he didn't learn and still went and did the same stupid things.

Boys spend years if not months being trainees before they see light of day as Juniors. How long are these two going to take to climb the ranks again? And then what? Have them dance backup to NewS and Kanjyani when they get back to being a Junior?

I understand how you feel and yes, I'm upset about it myself too. I wanted Uchi back but I still kind of understand why they are not back.

I don't see the trainee thing as a punishment anymore but more like what is appropriate to do after punishment. Maybe a bad example, but it's not like criminals can go back working in a society so easily either after they get out of jail. Uchi and Kusano have to earn the good guy status again by showing that they're willing to work for it and people can trust them to not be stupid anymore.

As for why 6-member News was suspended, was because of two members of News getting suspended for drinking underaged within less than a year doesn't give exactly a nice image of News. They are a group and in a way, they all have to take responsibility of the group's actions.

Right now I don't see anything else we can do except keep supporting both News and Uchi and Kusano as trainees and hope for the best.

I have mixed feelings about NewS' "return". On one hand, I'm happy that they are back. But when I looked at them during Countdown, I couldn't help but feel really REALLY sad. And of ALL the songs, they sang 'News Nippon' which made it even sadder for me.

When I first saw NewS in 2003, they were 9. I thought "Okay! New group of Yamap + 8! Why Yamap + 8? Coz the rest were in long pants while Yamap was showing off his skinny legs in shorts!" Okay. Nevermind that.

Less than a year later, Moriuchi drops out. So okay. NewS is now 8! Nice number!! Coz now it's not Yamap flanked by 4 on each side of him, it's 4-on-each-side NewS!! HAPPY!!

A year plus a bit later, Uchi gets drunk on underaged drinking, makes a fool of himself and gets suspended. As a Uchi fangirl, of course I'm upset BUT! He deserved it. Looking at NewS, hmm... We're kinda back to the 'Yamap with 3 on each side' formation, but it's still okay. Yay!! NewS!!

8/9 months and a bit later, what do we have? Kusano obviously does not learn from example and gets into the same crap that Uchi got himself into a couple of months earlier! And then? Kusano gets stuffed into cold storage too! -_-

To be really honest, 'Sayaendo' to me was a really lonely single. I loved NewS, still do. But to have seen them progressively and steadily drop from 9 to 6 is not a good feeling at all.

I'm happy to see NewS back. There is no doubt about that. But to see a 6-person NewS "come back" without the 2? It is not a comeback really. The suspension of NewS as a whole gave fangirls the hope that when the group came back, Uchi and Kusano would be back in the equation. With things as they are, NewS should have just continued as they were without the suspension of activities. There would have been no difference anyway.

Im also very happy for their comeback not only happy but also very excited.I just really miss their songs.I think they didnt deserve it that much because its not really that bad what they did because almost everyone in this world does it and just because they are stars theyre not allowed to do it and for me NewS is still not complete when 2 are missing but still i suport NewS.
What is actually the real reason why Moriuchi left?
I also love Sayaendou.At first i thought it was a lil funny but then i loved it.After that i heard Cinderella Boy then i got so addicted to it.
And yeah im so happy that they're finally back but somehow sad that they're only 6.:ksad:

I don't know how Johnnys really works, but I was thinking. NEWS taking a break kinda gave Kat-tun, K8 and maybe others a chance to get new fans, no? And Yamap a chance to do solo stuff. Maybe they decided to make this break longer to pimp their other acts more (but like I said, I dunno how JE works)? One would think that NEWS fans who still want to be JE fans find something else to fill the empty spot that NEWS left. But at the same time I wouldn't even doubt for a second that fangirls wouldn't wait for NEWS, so I don't think they were exactly taking a risk holding them back for so long. Uh...

Yeah, that is kind of true because I think K8 got a lot of fans during the year because NEWS and KAT-TUN fans wanted to go to concerts but neither of them were having them. Those three groups are on same fanclub so people who are in it for KT or NEWS can easily request tickets for K8 cons too. KAT-TUN already had shitloads of fans and EVERYONE knows them so I don't think they got them as much as K8 did, since KAT-TUN didn't really even have concerts after what, March or April (where there were NEWS cons too)?

But I don't think they decided to make the break longer because of that, since they said when they were suspended that they're not going to have anything in this year. Unless you meant they decided it to be that long in the first place to pimp KAT-TUN who is just about to debut and less popular K8 but that sounds so harsh and I don't want to believe it ^^;

Maybe they put NewS on a break to have them cool down a bit first, like Nacchi. Take her away for a bit, and then bring her back when hopefully the publics gotten over their issues and is willing to welcome her back again.

It just so happens that the break benefitted K8 in the process

Ah, welcome to the forum, but I can't help but disagree.

Just because lots of people may drink underage, doesn't mean that it's right. You break the law, you pay the price of course. They may be under more scrutiny/more likely to be charged, but I think the fact that they're idolized/famous creates even more of a reason as to why they shouldn't break the law, since kids are looking up to them and may want to emulate their behavior. I heard they're beginning to crack down on underage smoking/drinking though, so fair treatment will be spread throughout in due time I guess.

As for Moriuchi, he quit because he wanted to do rock music. He has his own band now, but I forget the name of it.

@Suki: Yeah, I used to not like Kusano at all because I thought he was a blockhead for drinking after seeing Uchi get caught. I thoguht that he should be banned even longer. But then I thought that it must be one of those situations in where everyone does it, hides it very well, and makes sure to scold whoever gets caught (Kinda like the Kago thing) because surely Kusano couldn't be THAT much of a blockhead. (lol though that may just be my Fangirl bias taking over since I've grown to like him ) Mebbe he was already drinking when Uchi got caught, and still decided to continue because he thought he could get away with it. Or maybe what he said is true, I heard that he'd said that he was just holding the can, not drinking from it.

This was initially why I was pretty okay and not devastated with the NewS suspension. Coz "group punishment" would be fitting for a group with 2 members that crossed the line. But I guess I'm feeling the way I'm feeling because I fully expected it to be an 8-member comeback and not just that same 6 again... :ONgyaaah:

Talk somemore Shi~!! I agree that K8 got a lot of new fans during the time that NewS was suspended coz fans wanted to fill the void. Plus, there was the Nishikido Ryo 'connecting' factor.

I did think at the time though, that with the way KAT-TUN's debut was timed, KAT-TUN was the group that was supposed to fill the void that NewS left though, not so much K8... I doubt KAT-TUN needed much pimping though coz even as Juniors, they were the most popular group there...

NewS held a press conference yesterday saying that they're gonna have a fresh start with the six members.

I will summarize what I've read on the newspaper articles:

- They still keep in touch with Uchi and Kusano by email and phone.
- The NewS members kept on going to the JE office to ask them to forgive Uchi and Kusano. Usually, JE just fires misbehaving kids but bringing them back to even a "trainee" status has never happened before.
- NewS members were asked what they thought of about the "retired" members, but they kept saying things like "they are our friends" and they "hope to someday be on the same stage with them again." Now, if you think about it, if JE has no plans bringing them back to their groups, they would have not allowed them to say these things.
- Ryo hasn't seen Uchi since the incident, but they've been calling. He recently called him to tell him to catch up with them soon and to go eat together on the night of his first day of work.
- NewS will have a new song coming out titled "Hoshi wo mezashite (=aiming for the stars)" and also have a tour coming up in the spring.
