Here's the info on the Uniqlo event, hope they served mega amounts of food for her.

On May 2nd, model/actress Kiritani Mirei attended a talk event at a ‘UNIQLO‘ store in Ginza.

Kiritani appeared at the event wearing the brand’s “easy cropped leggings”, which went on sale on April 23rd. Because the event was held with the theme of ‘Mother’s Day’, Kiritani described her relationship with her mom saying, “We have a relationship where we can say anything to each other. Last summer, we went on a trip and drank together. I felt that I’ve become an adult.”

When reporters asked, “Do you ask her for relationship advice?“, Kiritani declared, “Not much. Rather than love, I want to do my best with work.”

Kiritani, who says she often goes shopping with her mom, shared, “I have my mom coordinate outfits for me. She also gives me advice on fashion. For my mom, I recommend bright colors and clothes that show off her silhouette so that she won’t look like a middle-aged lady.”

During the event, Kiritani invited 3 mothers on stage and gave them each a carnation flower. Coming face-to-face with the actress, one woman burst into tears of joy. In response, Kiritani expressed, “Normally, I don’t get to directly speak to the people who support me, so I’m happy. I’m glad I’m doing this job.”

On May 12th and 13th, UNIQLO’s Ginza store will be holding ‘UNIQLO GINZA MOTHER’S WEEK‘, where they will hand out carnations to the first 400 people who purchase “easy cropped leggings”.

Kiritani Mirei to play Mukai Osamu’s younger sister in “Atarashii Kutsu wo Kawanakucha”

On May 4th, it was revealed that the up-and-coming actress Kiritani Mirei will be appearing in the upcoming romance film “Atarashii Kutsu wo Kawanakucha” starring Nakayama Miho and Mukai Osamu.

“Atarashii Kutsu wo Kawanakucha” tells the 3-day love story between the photographer ‘Yagami Sen’ (Mukai) and the freelance writer ‘Teshigawara Aoi’ (Nakayama), who meet in Paris by chance. While Aoi is living in Paris, Sen visits the city for a short vacation along with his happy-go-lucky younger sister ‘Suzume’ (Kiritani). Although Kiritani is pretty much abandoning her brother in order to roam around Paris, she plays an important part in kicking off the love story between Aoi and Sen. However, Suzume’s ulterior motive for the trip was to meet her boyfriend ‘Kango’, played by Ayano Go, whom she’s been having a long distance relationship with. In other words, we can look forward to a total of two love stories in the movie.

Scriptwriter Kitagawa Eriko (“Halfway”), who also was in charge of the direction, commented on Kiritani, stating, “She’s exactly the cute-yet-bothersome younger sister type of girl.” She added, “We did have a script, but I told her that it’s okay to say whatever comes to her mind and so we ended up doing a lot of ad-libbing.” Despite such an usual direction, Kiritani happily looked back on the filming and commented, “It was a lot of fun and I had a lot of discussions with my film partner Ayano Go.”

Producer Iwai Shunji praised Kiritani as well. “Even though it suddenly turned into ad-libbing with no real boundary line during the midst of filming, she continued to deliver and wasn’t irritated by the director’s absurd direction. She just smoothly and nicely responded to her orders.”

The filming was done in Paris for two weeks mid-March and marked the first time for the young Kiritani to film abroad. She said, “If I would describe the location, it will be just the word ‘Romantic’ or ‘Beautiful’. Behind us, we had this beautiful scenery with the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Seine. It’s all thanks to the scenery of Paris that we were able to film such a beautiful love story.” It’s said that the whole experience was so great for the actress and filled her with such a sense of accomplishment that she ended up shedding tears at the end of the filming.

Kitagawa was impressed with her performance, “I think she has shown us a completely different side of her this time.” This seems to be the result of the extensive ad-libbing, because Kiritani, herself, also said, “I hope that everyone will enjoy the atmosphere which allowed me to stay completely natural with my expressions.”

“Atarashii Kutsu wo Kawanakucha” is set for a nationwide release in October.

Kiritani Mirei practices hard for her first stage play, ‘Shin Bakumatsu Junjo-den’

Young actress Kiritani Mirei is currently practicing for her upcoming stage debut in the play ‘Shin Bakumatsu Junjo-den‘, and on June 21st, the press was able to witness a practice session at the play’s training room in Tokyo.

In the play, Kiritani portrays a female version of Okita Soji, the captain of the first Shinsengumi. It’s a special performance to commemorate the 2nd anniversary of playwright Tsuka Kohei’s death. In the past, several actress such as Ishihara Satomi and Suzuki Anne already made headlines for their enthusiastic performances in two of Tsuka’s plays.

The press was invited, after two intense hours of practice, in order to give them a glimpse at the sword fight and a first look at the scene in which Okita is meeting Sakamoto Ryoma (played by Kamio Yu). Director Okamura Shunichi still saw a few problems and had to interrupt multiple times. He was heard shouting: “Do it again! You are still only 65% there, but you are doing great!”

Kiritani herself commented, “I’m very anxious because [I'm having] all sorts of first experiences, like playing the role of a male character and sword fighting, but I just have to do my best. Since we were told to do sit-ups regularly, I started to do 100 of them every day. I hope that I can show you that I’ve matured a bit thanks to this role.” On the sword fight scene they demonstrated, she commented frustrated, “I was extremely nervous and some things still didn’t work out as planned. Fortunately, everyone around me is very kind and offers me a lot of help.”

Aside from Kiritani and Kamio, the press was also able to witness Kamakari Kenta, Wada Masato, and homosexual twins Hiromi-Fukami. The latter commented, “There isn’t just one but three bright flowers in this group. We’re even the same age as Kiritani!”

‘Shin Bakumatsu Junjo-den’ will be held at the Tokyo Bunkamura Theatre Cocoon from July 12th until July 22nd.
