In Love With Royalty Chapter 11
Months past after Kumi woke up and after Jenny joined the royal castle. Most of the attacks have stopped with only a few popping up here and there. Random raids. This would have been a good sign if it wasn't a growing sign that they were probably saving all their men for the full on attack. Jurina's stress levels went up and Kumi's determined to recover as soon as possible. Both of their significant others could do nothing but watch as both their lovers struggled. That night, Rena laid in bed, reading from a book a soldier brought back from some ruins they found. She heard the door open and looked up to find the young prince walk in; her face was filled with worry and sadness. Rena closed her book and watched as Jurina took off her belt and royal vest.
"Juri… are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
"You shouldn't stress yourself out too much you know…"
"…"
"Juri… it's not good for you…"
"…"
"Are you even listening?"
"Then what do you suppose I do? Sit back and wait for war to come to me? Do you expect me to sit idle as I was them get closer? Rena… they're coming! For you! For me! For everyone! What do you expect for me to d—"
She never finished her sentence because once she started her rant, Rena had already shot out of bed and up to her beloved prince. Rena took the flushed face into her hands gently and placed a silencing kiss on the lip of the younger girl. She moved her lips gently against Jurina as she thumbs stroked the cheek. She pulled away and placed a kiss on her forehead before pulling back and giving the prince a sad smile.
"I don't expect you to sit idle, no. But I do want you to understand, being this stressed… when the time for battle comes, you won't be ready. I can't have that. I want to help you Juri… but all you're doing is pushing me away."
Jurina stared at Rena, her usually guarded eyes now unguarded and showing her true vulnerability. She looked down at the floor and bit her lip before looking back up at Rena. She held onto the hands that was still idly stroking her cheek. She removed them from her cheek and held onto them, stroking the knuckles.
"I… I'm sorry. I understand but it's just… I don't want you mixed into all this. I want you to stay safe! I want you to not worry…"
"I already am mixed into this though… right? I'm in love with the prince who rules this kingdom and commands a massive army. Plus… I'll be with you and in your arms. I am completely safe…"
Rena snaked her arms around Jurina's neck and placed her cheek beside Jurina's. Jurina's arms slipped around her waist and held Rena to her tightly. She buries her face in Rena's neck and inhales her scent, the scent that always calms her. Jurina felt Rena lightly stroke her hair as they stood there, holding each other. Rena pulled away and kissed Jurina's cheek before smiling.
"Get changed and let's sleep… long day ahead."
Jurina agreed and finished changing into her nightgown. Going from extravagant and commanding to simple and cute. She crawled into bed and went under the covers. Once she was settled, Rena immediately placed her arms around her and held her against herself. Jurina snuggled up to Rena and kissed under Rena's jaw.
"Good night, love… I love you."
"Good night Juri. I love you too."
They fell asleep and after what seemed to be only a few seconds, they woke up once more to sunlight shining through the windows. Jurina was first to wake. As she opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was Rena's still sleeping face. Smiled and placed a light kiss on her princess' lips, effectively waking her up.
"Good morning, love. Slept well?"
"With you here, always."
They smiled at each other before both getting up and getting ready for the day. As they stepped out of the room and made their way to the dining hall, they were joined by Anna and Kumi as they too were stepping out of their room. They exchanged their good mornings and proceeded to breakfast together. Their day went off without any trouble. Rena and Anna went off to their "training" as they called it while the prince went off to do paper work as always. Suddenly, a soldier ran into Jurina's office and summoned her to the throne room. As she quickly made her way towards it, the rest of the crew joined her. Anna and Rena were all sweaty and pink in the face while Shi-chan and Marie ran to meet them while holding books. Yuki and Mayu ran/waddled over and followed the group. Yuki was fully dressed in her attire, probably being pulled off guard duty. Shiori and Kumi caught up last, coming from a meeting with some of the officers.
"What's going on, Juri?"
"I don't know, love… I was suddenly summoned."
"Us too…"
"Odd."
As they rushed into the throne room, they saw a circle of soldiers blocking something from view. Jurina sat down on the throne and looked questioningly at the soldiers. Some blocked whatever it was ad the others kept out the pedestrians.
"What's going on here?"
"I don't know if you want the citizens to see, your highness… it's a bit gruesome."
"… Keep them out and close the doors. If it's that bad, I don't want them seeing."
The soldiers complied and closed the main doors of the castle before shutting all windows. As they finished, they went back to their post except those covering whatever it was behind them. The captain of the guards walked up, his face was pale, sweaty, and green. He cleared his throat and looked at Jurina.
"Your highness… this arrived in a horse drawn carriage with no driver. However, this was in it attached to a note. I must warn you, however, that this is quite… gruesome. Please do try not to puke."
With that said, the guards moved away and in the middle was what seemed at first to be a pile of dark red and black with what seemed to be arrows sticking out. Suddenly, as if finally realizing what it was, Anna screamed and Kumi immediately held onto her and placed Anna's head on her shoulder, whispering for her to not look. Rena covered her mouth as her usual pale features turned paper white with horror. Jurina quickly stood up and took Rena, asking her silently if she was okay. Shi-chan, Mari, and Shiori immediately ran up to check on the… thing. A look of disgust crossed their faces as Shi-chan kneeled down to look at it closely. She whispered something to the other two who's faces turned dark and hatred flashed across their faces. Shi-chan stood up and turned to Jurina. Her face no longer looked cold and bored but was replaced with hatred and anger. The aura around her seemed to make the air boil and with the three combined; it seemed as if something deadly was approaching. No wonder why they were chosen to lead the best army.
"Jurina… this... THING… is a person tortured beyond belief. I believe she's female… maybe around 25 – 30. Shot with arrows, as you can see, and sliced everywhere. She was then skinned, amputated, and then burned… while still alive… I… think she's still alive."
Jurina looked up from where she was staring at the ground, looking straight at the grave faces of her three friends. She then looked back to the dark mass and saw that it seemed to still be shaking slightly. Her face turned pale once more and a tinged of green showed itself on her cheeks. She looked away and swallowed before looking back at them, her face showing courage.
"We should… end her misery."
"Would you like me to do it?"
"No Shi-chan. Stay. I'll do this."
Jurina walked up to the shiver mass, unsheathing her sword. She looked down and could make out a face. As she was about to plunge her sword in for the final blow, the girl opened her eyes. Those pain filled eyes stared up at the prince who froze on the spot. The girl opened her mouth and a pained sound came out. Jurina lowered her weapon and kneeled down in front of the girl, ignoring the smell of burnt flesh.
"I know it hurts… I can see it… I can't feel it like you… but my heart hurts with you. I'm sorry they would do something like this to you. So sorry. I'll end this for you. No more suffering. No more pain. You'll be in heaven soon. I promise."
She made a sound. It sounded like a confirmation which allowed Jurina to stand up and raise her weapon again. She looked the girl in the eye, her own eyes filled with tears.
"I'm so sorry that this happened to you. May you rest in peace forever."
With that, she plunged the sword right into the poor girl's heart. The girl convulsed once and then remained still. Jurina pulled out her sword with a disgustingly wet sound. A soldier immediately ran up and cleaned the blood off and left with a small thanks from the prince. She slowly walked back to the throne where Rena stood waiting. As she got up, Rena caught her just in time for her to fall forward and let out a cry of pain. Right then, the door burst open and Yuko and Haruna ran in.
"What ha—OH MY GOD. WHAT…"
"Nyan Nyan! Call the other nurses! Get the body removed NOW."
"Okay!"
As they set about removing and cleaning the remains, Jurina stood there, crying into Rena's shoulder as everyone else gathered around her. The young princes' heart shattered into millions of pieces as she had to end the life of one of her own people. She couldn't believe the look in the eyes of that girl. All she could do was replay it and feel the pain over and over again. The guard captain slowly walked up. He had taken his helmet off and had it under his arm.
"Your highness… a letter was attached to the carriage. It's for you."
Jurina straightened up and wiped her tears away. She turned around and took the letter, opening it and looking at the curved hand-writing.
"Hello dear sister. It's been a while hasn't it? I hope you liked my present. Did it myself. But anyways, I hope you know that soon, I'll knock your kingdom down to the ground. There will be no more for this land. Then, starting from here, I'll slowly take down all the others. Then unite the people under MY rule. All MY land. So just a fair warning sister. You're kingdom will go down. Goodbye… "
Jurina stared at the paper before crumpling it up and throwing it on the ground. She looked at her friends, her eyes blazing.
"My dear friends… tomorrow, I will ride with my army out to defeat my brother once and for all. I do not demand that you come for I am sure there are things here that you value. Do not follow if you do not wish to."
She was about to step off when a hand grabber her wrist. She turned around and found Shi-chan gripping her wrist tightly. Shi-chan flicked her hair to the side, revealing her left eye completely. Her right eye was a normal brown color but her left eye was purple with a scar on it.
"You saved me from those people before. I owe my life to you. This war isn't only for you, prince. Its mine too."
Mari nodded her head as she too stepped in. Shiori clicked her tongue and walked forward, her eyes blazing as a smirk appeared on her face.
"Count me in. Don't think you can have all the fun by yourself."
Kumi stepped forward and placed a hand on Jurina's shouder. She put her thumbs up and smiled. Jurina thought that was the last of it when Yuki also came up.
"Yuki… but you have a child… and Mayu!"
"I know… but I'd rather protect them with my life out there than stand back and watch everything while doing nothing here. Plus, I'm sure if anything were to happen, our child will take good care of her mother."
Jurina nodded before looking at everyone in the room. She unsheathe her sword and raised it up, pointing it skyward.
"Tomorrow, we shall ride into battle as not only friends, but as people who will defend all that they love. We WILL come back victorious!"
Yuki, Kumi, Shiori, Shi-chan, and Mari unsheathed their swords and pointed them skywards too. Their yells of approval filled the throne room along with the cries of them soldiers within. That day, the army prepared to take off and Jurina sat in her room with Rena at her side. She sat there, her brows furrowed and her hands constantly twitching.
"Juri… are you okay…?"
"Yes, love… it's just… tomorrow… I'll be seeing him again. After so long of living in his shadow, I am now fighting him as his equal…"
"You will beat him and win this war Juri… I know it."
"But…"
"No… I'm sure."
Jurina raised her head and looked at Rena. She took in her princess' features. How her eyes seemed to shine in the candle light and how her slips part sometimes as she breathes. She slowly brought her hands up and held onto her face, her thumb stroking the smooth skin.
"Rena… you know I love you… right? A lot?"
"Yes… and I love you too Jurina."
"I just… want you to be happy. So if anything happens… forget about me. Just forget me and move on…"
"No…"
"Yes…"
"No. You'll come back."
"But what if I—"
She never got to finish as Rena placed her lips over Jurina's to silence her. She moved her lips softly against the prince's before pulling away. She looked Jurina in the eye and kissed her forehead.
"You WILL come back to me… I know you will… but instead of arguing over this… let's make tonight… something to remember. Even if it's just for tonight, I want to get your mind off things… but promise me… you'll come back."
"I… I promise…"
"Good."
Rena smiled and she received a smile in return. She placed her arms around Jurina's neck and kissed her once again. That night, they successfully forgot all about their worries and fears and just laid in each other's warmth, basking in the feeling of finally being one. Tomorrow was the day that decided the future of the land.

P.S. Lemon will be written if enough people want it. If not, that will be omitted.
