CHAPTER 18:
AT THE SOME HIGH CLASS HOTEL
Jun together with his fiancée, Rena, are on their way to hold a charity event that Jun’s parent organize. His parents we’re able to come so they asked their son Jun to come in their place instead but Jun doesn’t really like to mingle with this kind of crowd, but since it’s like a family tradition, he is obligated to do it.
“God why do I have to do this….This is just a waste of time.”Jun complained
“No, it’s not; we are doing this for people who are in need.” Rena reasoned
“Yes, I know that, I like helping people in need, but, I HATE to socialize with those spoiled rotten rich people.”Jun getting annoyed
“Yes, I know that too, but it can’t be helped, this is our life, and I don’t like to do it either but for the sake of the people that we can help…this is nothing.”Rena simply said.
“I know, I know…why they can’t just do these themselves. This ‘social gathering’ is their idea. Why do I have…..Arrr! Forget it. “Jun still in a bad mood.
“Well they have other matters to attend, and as I said, it’s part of our lifestyle you know, and it’s your’ duty’ as a Matsui to do this kind of events….Well
I’m here with you, so , It’ll be a little bit bearable, don’t you think.” Rena asked
“Yes, if you didn’t come along, I swear, I would ditch this event. “Jun smiled
Then they arrive at the hotel, the general manager and some staffs are already at the entrance waiting and the red carpet is laid down for them. Jun and Rena get off the car.
“Y-young master Jun, and Young miss Rena, welcome…”The general manager greeted, but stutters as he got intimated by Jun.
“Yah….. Is everything ready?” Jun said in a business like voice. Rena link her arms with Jun’s
“Don’t scare the man, Jun….”Rena whispered. Jun let out a cough as he tried not to laugh at the petrified looking manager.
“Y-yes, e-everything is ready, the guests have arrived and we are just waiting for you, y-young master and young miss, so the event could start.” The
general manager sweats a lot.
“Good, lead the way…” Jun ordered.
“Y-yes, r-right this way….”The general manager guide them to the already crowded hall.
Jun and Rena went up the stage, Jun stand in front of the microphone stand and said a few things so the event could finally start. Once finished they’re already surrounded by a groups of VIP’s, talking about the latest news, gossips, and some business related stuff. Jun was just trying his best to not shame his parents name as he tried to socialize with them. When Rena saw how tired and exhausted Jun is, she excused herself from the little group she’s talking to and made her way to where Jun is.
“Gentlemen, can I borrow my fiancée for a moment.” Rena link arms with Jun
“Yes of course, Rena-sama, good ahead. “The gentlemen said
“Thank you, will then, if you’ll excuse us.” Rena shows them her fake smile and dragged Jun out of the hall.
“Geez, thank god finally. How can they stand talking about all those nonsense?!” Jun sigh in relief when they finally got out of the hall as he sat down on one of the chairs at some restaurant. Rena just chuckled as she sat on the opposite side, facing Jun.
“Hey, let’s eat…I haven’t eaten anything yet since morning.”Jun grabbed the menu and starts looking for something edible to eat.
“Yah, I’m getting quite hungry too.” Rena agreed as she too grabbed the menu.
Jun called up the waiter and ordered there food…
“Hey, this restaurant isn’t that bad. “Jun said as he looked around the restaurant. The restaurant looks a like a garden. There are hanging plants
hanging up the glass wall windows, different flowers and plants, a little pond with some koi fish
“Well, Kuu’s family owned most of the luxurious and famous restaurants in world, so it’s only natural…” Rena simply smiled at how silly Jun can be sometimes
“They owned this place? I guess it makes sense, that this place looks good. Since Kuu has a really good sense and keen eye for interior designing and decorating.” Jun smiled back to Rena
“Here’s your order, please enjoy” the waiter put down their food on the table and once done left them alone.
Rena was checking out the waiter, as the waiter is quite a hottie too but she got Jun already so it doesn’t matter to her. Jun notice Rena checking the waiter and got jealous.
“Hey, what are you doing?” Jun grumpily said
“Just checking out the waiter, why, are you jealous?” Rena teases Jun
“DAMN RIGHT! YOUR MINE! I’ll get that dude fired right now” Jun stood up from his chair
“Moe~ you don’t have to get jealous you know! I’m all yours, remember I’m engaged to you” Rena showed her finger with engagement ring on to Jun
“Yes, you’re only engaged to me, but it doesn’t mean that you won’t cheat on me.” Jun still jealous
“Moe~ I’m just teasing you! You’re really cute when you’re jealous you know!” Rena stand up from her sit and went to Jun’s side to hug him.
“Yah, right, sure I’m cute, but you like hot guys more.” Jun whine.
“No, I LOVE MY JUN THE BEST!” Rena gave Jun a short kiss.
“Come on, our food is getting cold.” Rena went back to her sit and sat down
“Yes, and Rena……….”Jun called
“Hmmmm?”Rena looked up to him
“I’ll PUNISH YOU LATER.” Jun mischievously smiled at Rena
Rena just rolled her eyes and continue eating, and once they’re done, as much as they want to run away from the event, they start heading back to the hall again.
Once inside the hall, they got surrounded again by the guest…continue talking about boring things. When suddenly someone caught Jun’s attention, he was staring at a young woman, who is talking with her little group. Jun wasn’t paying attention to the people around him and just continues to stare at the young woman and when he finally had enough, he excused himself from the gentlemen.
“Gentlemen, I’m sorry, but if you’ll excuse me, for a minute.” Jun hurriedly excuse himself and went to the young woman’s little group.
“Hey, look, its Matsui Jun-sama” One of the girls said as she notice Jun is heading to them.
The young woman turned around and was suddenly greeted by a hug
“Mayuyu, I missed you!” Jun hugged the young woman called Mayuyu.
People start looking at their direction, as Jun‘s behavior suddenly changed. Even Rena couldn’t believe what she was seeing. She is getting jealous of the girl and she’s trying to control herself not to do anything, but her patience is limited.
“J-Jun?! W-what are you doing here?” Mayuyu surprised
“Well, this event is organize by my parent, but they could come today, so I came instead. “ Jun break the hug
“Ohh, that makes sense…” Mayuyu said
“Hey, how come I didn’t see you earlier? Did you just arrive? Did my parents invite you? And when did you get back, I thought you’re still in the states“? Jun asking nonstop
“Hey, easy now, you’re getting hyper again….”Mayuyu tried to calm down the excited Jun.
“I can’t help it! It’s been awhile since I last saw you!” Jun said
“Yah, I know what you mean, anyways… I was a little late, that’s why you didn’t see me earlier. Yes your parents invited me, once they heard I’m back in Japan. And well, I just got back here a week ago with Sayaka-san.” Mayuyu answered Jun’s questions.
“Uhmmm, I’m sorry ladies, I’m being rude…..” Jun apologize to Mayuyu’s little group
“It’s ok, will leave you two alone then… see you late Mayu” one of the ladies said then they left.
“Come on let’s sit down” Jun guide Mayuyu a the table and continue talking.
Rena on the other side, is still holding her anger and jealously.
“Hey, Rena –sama are ok?” one the ladies asked
“Yes, I’m fine, I know her, she’s Jun’s childhood friend.” Rena showed a faked smile at the girls.
‘I don’t want your pity sympathies! Bitches’ Rena thought.
“Ohh, then she must be that Watanabe Mayu?” the other said
“Yes…she is” Rena still fake smiling
“Hey, I heard that she was a genius and she goes to that Cambridge University in the States” the other one said
“Really? Wow… that’s amazing .She must be a really genius then…”the other one agreed
“Yah and I also heard that she already got her Master and now a professor at that University too” the other said again.
“Wow, the Watanabe’s are really lucky to have a daughter like her…”another one said
“Yes, but most of all, the future husband and in-laws” the other added
“Yes, definitely, she got the looks, the brain and money too….”the other agreed.
Rena was just silently listening to the gossip but her focus is on Jun and Mayu….When she could take it all, she excuses her self from the ladies and walked out of the hotel without being notice…..Jun is still chatting with Mayuyu…that she totally forgot about Rena…until Mayu mention her.
“Hey, where’s your fiancée, Rena, right?” Mayuyu unsure
“Yah, her name is Matsui Rena, yes speaking of her, where is she?” Jun asked as he looked around the hall trying to find Rena.
“Why are you asking me? “Mayuyu asked back
“Hey, Mayu, I’m sorry, I’ll be back ok, I’ll just look for her.” Jun said then went to the ladies, who Rena was talking to awhile ago as he didn’t wait for Mayu’s reply.
“Ohh, boy, Jun you can be stupid sometimes.” Mayuyu said to herself as she watch Jun run
“I’m sorry to interrupt you ladies, but have you seen Rena?” Jun asked
“Ohh, Rena-sama, she just excuse her self awhile ago?” one of the ladies said
“Uhmmm…. do you know, where she’d go?” Jun asked
“I’m sorry Jun-sama but we don’t know where she had gone. “The other lady said
“Ohhh, ok thanks” Jun left the group and start looking for Rena again.
When he left the ladies starts gossiping again……
Jun walk out of the hall and went to the receptionist too asked if they saw Rena but they said they didn’t see her
“Useless!” Jun shouted.
The receptionists were a bit taken back and the person on the lounge too starts staring at him…. Jun just ignores the people and took out his phone and starts dialing Rena’s number.
“The number you have dialed is not available at this moment please try again later” the operator said
“Damn it, Rena answer the damn phone!” Jun dialed again the Rena’s number but still get the same respond.
Jun gave up and head outside the hotel. He called his driver to get the car
“Get out! “Jun ordered
“Y-yes sir” The driver complies quickly.
Jun get on the car, step on the accelerator, the making the tires go squeak in noise as it hit the pavement, Jun drive so fast like a race car driver racing for the cup…..it wasn’t that long when Jun reached Rena’s house. He buzzes the doorbell, and a man opens the door for him
“Is Rena-chan home? “Jun asked
“No, young miss isn’t at home right now…I thought she’s with you, Jun-sama” the man said
“Ohh, ok, thanks and can you call me, if she gets home….”Jun said and left quickly………..
AT A SECLUDED MANOR
Ray was in a traditional Japanese room, watching some show as she waits impatiently for her father, since she was ordered to come ‘to the manor’. When she got home a week ago, she was expecting her father to welcome her, but instead, a man wearing a red masked who introduced himself as her father’s right hand man, and he had told her that her father is quite busy at the moment and he was specifically instructed to him that Ray is not allowed to contact or roam around freely inside the manor for the week.
Since she couldn’t contact anyone or do whatever she wants at the moment, she asked the man with the red mask to do some investigation for her. The masked man only shows up to her during the night, but for some reason, today he suddenly show up.
“Miss Ray…”The masked man called
“Holly Crap, I told you to stop doing that!!!” Ray startled
“My apologizes.” The man blankly said
“Just like the last time but, you still do it! What do you want; did you finish what I asked you to do?” Ray annoyed.
“Yes, here are the files…….”The man walked towards her and gives her the file. Ray open the envelop and starts reading the file. Her expression suddenly change, as she continues to read, but her reading was interrupted when the door suddenly opened
“Hello, darling! How are you today!” Ray’s father greeted
“MY lord, I’m sorry, I was about to…”the man explains but was interrupted
“It’s ok, red; I just couldn’t really want to see my little darling.” Ray’s father said
“Well then, I’ll just wait outside.” The masked man excused himself to give the Ray and her father some privacy.
“What is that?” Ray’s father point to the envelop that the red masked man give to her
“It’s nothing important, what took you so damn long, dad….You told me, to be at the manor, but I wasn’t expecting to be brought in this nowhere place And I thought you wanted to talk to me!” Ray irritated
“Yes, I know darling, I’m sorry, I was just finish up some things…. And I’ll explain everything later, Come on now” Ray’s father explain
“Fine, where are we going?” Ray asked
“You’ll know it soon.” Ray’s father gently pushes her out of the room.
Ray and her father continue to walk, followed by the red masked man. Then they stop, her father, guide them to a dead end of the hallway, where only a painting hanging on the top of a million dollar vase.
“My lord, it’s time” The red mask man said.
“Time for what? “Ray give her dad a confuse look as he turn the vase, clockwise, counterclockwise , and clockwise
“You’ll know it pretty soon. “Her father simply smile and the painting split in half, as it open, showing a pathway
Ray wondered how long have they’ve been walking in this tunnel. Her feet hurt, the smells inside was so bad, and there are few skeletal bones lying on the ground. And each time she sees one, she couldn’t help but scream. Even though she wants to ask, why are there trap doors like this one inside the manor, or why is it even this place is so far and secluded, why are there human bones lying on the path, to many questions that will soon be answered.
“Where here.” Her father said as the red masked man open the steel rusted door. Ray walk in first, it’s a chamber room. The room is filled with antiques and painting of who know who, and a big table on the middle, where people, wearing different styles and color of masks just like the red mask man, suddenly rose up from their sits and bow down to her.
“Dad, what the hell is going on?” Ray freak out as she turned around to her father for answers. But she was even more freak out when her father is also wearing a mask.
“Ray, welcome to the Masukuda family meeting.” Her father said as he slowly walked to the throne chair and sit. Once her Father seated on the throne, the others also sit down and the red masked man also took his sit on the right open chair next to her father.
Ray was so speechless and confuse to what’s happening right now.
“Today, you are now officially an adult, and it is time for you to learn who you really are.” Her father said.
“Who I really am?” Ray repeated her father words.
“We have waited 20 long years, for this day to arrive…..”Her father added
“Come my daughter….” Her father motions her to sit beside him.
Ray slowly walked to her father and takes the sit beside him.
“Dad, can you explain, now, what the hell is going on?”Ray confused
“Yes, that’s why we are here, together with everyone……”Her father said. Ray didn’t respond and waited for her father to start explain.
“Ray, our family, since from the Jomon period has been leading and guiding Japan. It is thanks to us, that Japan is what it is today. But everything change, the family couldn’t decide who’ll be the next emperor between the two brothers. It was traditional that the eldest son will be the heir, but the younger son, possess quality of becoming an heir too. Since the emperor couldn’t decide, the emperors advisor proposed that the two brothers duel each other for the throne….the winner will be the become the heir and the one who lose, will forever assist, guide and even gave up their life to the winner. There are some agreements about this, but the emperor eventually agreed to this proposal.”
Ray silently listens to her father as he tells her about their family.
“So, the brothers dueled, it was a long, breathtaking fight. Both brothers doesn’t want to lose to one another, but eventually, the youngest son, won the duel. The eldest son, couldn’t believe that he lost to his younger brother and swore, that he’ll take his rightful place since then…………. as time flies by , everyone soon had forgotten about the eldest brother……………” Her father said.
“Who’s the eldest brother?” Ray curious
“He is the Masukuda family, our family’s ancestor………”Her father proudly said
“And who’s the youngest brother?” Ray a smug is forming on her face as she asked
“He is the ancestors of our sworn enemy….the Maeda family.” Her father said with full of hatred.
