I like the heart shaped reflections they have in their eyes and hair. Nice little detail.
Great moment when AKB Sanjou started playing. Action scenes are great in this

About the seiyuu's, I didn't really pay any attention to who is voicing who, but Mayu's pretty much using her regular voice. It's a bit distracting. Interesting how Mayuyu is voiced by someone else though.

They should market those Kiraras.

DVD/Blu-ray releases are now up at CDJapan

It's pretty evil. Volume one is the cheapest (2000 yen), but it only has one episode. First press comes with "a box to house the all volumes of the series." The other volumes are 6000 yen for the DVD and 7000 yen for the Blu-ray! 3 episodes per volume, 5 volumes available atm. The last volume is 8000 yen

Mayuyu & Chieri
I understand how it can be distracting as I kept picturing Mayuyu when Chieri spoke but I actually love it! (I admit I'm just addicted to her voice.) Her regular voice is fine for Chieri and the commendable thing is how she varied her tone to successfully convey Chieri's personality and emotions. She lowered her voice and carried such a cool tone when she was in disguise to the point that I almost couldn't recognise her at the start of the episode. And darn, I'm so in love with that voice and boyish disguise!

I must say I'm really glad Tamura Yukari voices Mayuyu in the anime. Her voice-acting is perfect - mysterious and cool in Mayuyu's battle mode (very fitting for a cyborg), cute and high-pitched when saying Mayuyu's catchphrase (just like the real Mayuyu)! I was worried for nothing when the seiyuu announcement was made. Should have known better and trusted Yukarin the lengendary Nanoha seiyuu right from the start!

Merchandise Fantasies
There is 99% chance that Kirara will be made into a type of merchandise but what I'm looking forward to is actually a whole line of AKB0048 figmas and nendoroids. I wouldn't mind a scale figure of Mayuyu or Chieri even!

Other thoughts about the episode
- Kanda Akemi rocks voicing the hyper Yuko! Yuko is an all-around awesome person and Kanda-san managed to portray just that. Yuko is such a flirt even towards the Kirara!

- Sonata cracked me up! Nice acting by Kuumin. A little awkward-sounding during her introduction scene but she very quickly relaxed into her role as the episode progressed.
- Pretty funny that Yuko sang a line from Heavy Rotation before she transformed and released the radiance of a successor. Wonder if the singing part is a compulsory action to activate 0048 members' transformations

- Tomochin sounded a bit too energetic in that one battle cry.
- Takamina's ribbon of divine justice strikes again

- I love love LOVE the OP and ED songs!

Can't wait for the single to be out!

Sawako characters is just like her in real life

Episode two just sealed the deal for me.

I'm definitely looking forward to this every week, dang, the OP is quite catchy, I look forward to NO NAME's CD release!
Also, I think they nailed Yuko's, Mayuyu's and Yukirin's seiyuus well, I mean seriously it just fits them, I was squealing and fangirling hard when Yuko came in the scene, then Mayuyu's cyborg attack until Yukirin speaking as the captain of the ship! I seriously couldn't help but rewatch those scenes.......

The acting is very impressive again, the girls sure know how to do it well! Mayuyu's character Chieri however, somehow for almost 80% of the episode I heard Mayuyu's voice, not that its bad because I love it! And then until she went soft and dere dere over near the end, ahh.....I can't help but love it as well.........and I'm seriously fangirling.

I hope those merchandises somehow find theirselve's in an anime otaku store here in PH, I'd certainly want to get some AKB0048 items. >:L

The merchandise aren't listed on any of the online hobby shops that I frequent

Wonder where we can purchase them. Some of the products such as the strap that YKT posted should have been released last month. Anyway, here are some of the merchandise listed on AKB0048 official website. I want the 0048 members versions of the clear file, can badges and mug! The towel is pretty cool too.

Lololol, I can already foresee the ChierixNagisa vs. YuukaxChieri shipping wars, even though ChierixNagisa is clearly going to be the OTP. I wonder if this will transfer over to seiyuu pairings. MayuyuxKaren!

Kuumin was awesome, and Sonata as a character is gold, as well. I still think she's a perfect fit to be the next Yuko, but then again, I thought Chieri was going to be the next Yukirin, and as a part of the OTP to Nagisa's Acchan she'll have to either be Yuko or Takamina, so my matchups are kind of out the window. But Sonata seriously stole just about every scene she was in.

The other biggest scene stealer was Sawako, of course.

Paruru the 3rd, they're pushing even in the anime.

But Sawako's character's clearly got a wicked sense of humor disguised as innocent "chronicling."

At first I thought it was Yoshizawa Makoto and was all like "lol H!P reference in the AKB anime

" but nah. Yeah, she's totally going to be Genking. However, her character was rather annoying in this episode, with her non-stop freaking out, which ended up ruining their hiding from the suits. She needs to get over herself.

So we still need thre more trainees to round out the cast. We know that two of them are from an older KKS generation, as I predicted them to become Haruna and Sayaka.

Lol so much crying in the OP. This means there'll be buckets of angst later on, huh?

Otherwise, this show is pretty much setting up to be another Bunny and Tiger: stuff happens that pretends that it's character development, then lots of action scenes, and then the week's morality lesson, most of them exemplifying how Nagisa is the true spirit of idolling. (or other characters, as they have their moments of actuation.) Nagisa is Tiger, and Chieri is Bunny.

I'm totally hooked on this show.

It's very Macross-like in that it takes a story and idea that is so absurd, weird, even kinda silly and presents it to you in such a well done way that you don't even care how insane and improbable it is.

I'm glad to see Shawako's character isn't as ugly as some of the early concept art.

I guess Mita Mao's character is the Leonard McCoy of this series. xD

Second ep was awesome. Loved it. Need more now!

Anyway, Kuumin's character is so far my favorite and I really like her voice for her character too.

Again, I think I can't get enough but to say that they did well again.
Episode 3 was fun to watch, certainly entertaining as they focused on not just the 'idol' part but on something different, its really like a cross of Macross Frontier and Idolm@ster, mainly the latter for the idol part and the former for the fighting.

They also really spelled out that being an idol is no joke, that being in AKB requires a lot of strength and perseverance as well as emotional, mental and physical strength. They did turn it up to the extreme though, but hahaha, its a nice touch since it suited where this plot is at, it does have an idol ban and all.

This episode's acting was as fine as usual, music, very alright, the scenes was good, though somehow, the 3D dances was a bit....rusty than the first two episodes, I think they need to tweak that a bit. I'm glad they still are using the AKB songs, using one particular song of which is one of my favorites, Beginner.

Also, this isn't meant to be a spoiler, but I'd like to point out this wonderful Mayuyu scene......... I'm quite fangirling over her, that and also Chieri, who is being seiyuued by Mayuyu. No joke, Mayuyu's character and her anime counterpart makes me fangirl a lot, I can't help but squeal. Yukirin/Yui Horie is also pulling my leg....

I seriously can't wait for the next episode.
