As promised, here's Chapter 7!! I kinda got inspired on the last part of the chapter so... Yeah, enjoy

CHAPTER 7

“It’s done” he told Atsuko as he hung up the phone; “She said it’s fine if you also come along, hippie…” he said to Riku.


“HEY!! I’m not a hippie, you idiot!!” Riku answered.


“Stop it, both of you… instead of being fighting over your *hippie* look, we should get going, or else we’ll be late” Atsuko said


“Atsuko, did you just call me a hippie again?” Riku acted as if he was hurt, “Fine, I’ll go back to my old look” he said after a
relatively long pause, defeated.


“Please do” the other two said in unison, and laughed at such a coincidence.


“Ok, but given the fact that I’ve just arrived here, do you think you could accompany me tomorrow Atsuko? To the salon, I mean…”


“Unfortunately, I can’t tomorrow, I gotta go to college since early in the morning and until late in the afternoon, sorry…”


“It’s ok---“


“BUT, why don’t you ask Kai? As far as I know he doesn’t have any appointments tomorrow, besides, this could help you get along better…” she suggested.


“GREAT.” Kai thought; “Oh, yeah… I’d love to…” he finally answered, not completely convinced about it.


“Ah… great, thanks lit--- I mean, dude...”


“See? All settled!! You should exchange phone numbers, so you can discuss the details…”


“Uh, right… maybe later, when we uh… arrive to the restaurant…” of a said, with a tone of resignation


With that being said, they made their way out of Atsuko’s apartment; they had previously called a cab, which was already at the entrance of the building, waiting for them.



*On their way to the restaurant, inside a cab*


It had been quite a while since they had boarded the cab, around half-an-hour, Atsuko was getting impatient, and both guys were just silently looking at their respective phones.


“So, Kai, is it still too much time left until we arrive? I mean, won’t Yuko get mad at us for being late?”


“I’m sure she won’t mind”


“Still, I think you should text—”


“Oh, we’re here” he said. “FINALLY”.



*Inside the restaurant*


“Great, you’re finally here!!” a little woman exclaimed, “Oh, hello Atsuko and…” she leaned towards Kai and asked, “hey, who’s the homeless guy? You didn’t tell me this was for charity…” Kai couldn’t help but let out a little laugh.


“Riku, Kojima Riku” the Japanese guy answered, after clearing his throat, a little annoyed.


“Yeah, I’ll call you hippie, for the time being…” a smirk drawn in her face.


Riku let out a sigh, and concluded there was no use in debating about his new given nickname. Hopefully everything will
change after he went to the salon, the next day; with Kai, unwillingly.  For now, he should just enjoy the food and the restaurant’s environment, which seemed quite luxurious for just a casual meal between acquaintances…


“Woah, everything’s quite pricey here…” he exclaimed once he looked at the menu.


“Kai, is it really OK for us to be eating here? Riku and I wouldn’t mind going somewhere else…”


“It’s perfectly fine, he and I come here quite often” Yuko said.


“It’s true, and let’s say going out to eat with Yuko is like going with a couple of my guy friends; she’s got quite an appetite”


“Oh Kai, stop it; you’re making me blush!”


Atsuko couldn’t help but feel a little awkward at the childhood friends’ interaction, if she didn’t knew them, she’d swear they were a couple… Somehow, she felt jealous; she decided to ignore them and concentrate on her own childhood friend instead.


Riku had noticed that Yuko saw Kai as more than just a mere friend, pretty much similar to his situation with Atsuko; by how Kai acted towards her, he could tell she had been friend zoned for quite some time now… “Maybe we’re not that different from each other…” he thought.


“Oh, by the way, Kai, I also took the liberty to invite a couple of friends; they should be here anytime soon” Yuko stated.


“It’s fine with me, but since they’re YOUR guests, then you’re paying for them” Kai said teasingly.


“I figured you’d say that, and I don’t have a problem with it” she answered confidently.


As she was saying this, her friends were entering the restaurant. They mentioned her name to the gentleman in the door and he quickly guided the pair towards the destined table.


“Oh my god!! You’re here!! It’s been so long since we saw each other!!” Yuko excitedly exclaimed.


“I know!! There’s so much to catch up about!! I’ve missed you so much Yuko!!” the taller female exclaimed.


Meanwhile, a seemingly timid guy quietly sat next to Riku, he vowed his head towards the other 3 people as a greeting.


“Nice to meet you, I’m Minegishi Ryou” he said in a low voice.


“Nice to meet you, I’m Kojima Riku” he said, “this beautiful lady is Maeda Atsuko” he indicated as he pointed Atsuko, “and the guy next to her is Takahashi Kai”.


“Nice to meet you” the other 2 said.


The two friends kept talking with each other for a while, so Kai told his guests and Ryou to order what they wanted; when the other two finished catching up, the taller female greeted the remaining people in the table.


“Oh, hi Kai, I almost didn’t see you there… If you know what I mean” she said, teasingly.


“Shut up, skyscraper” he said while giving her a hateful stare.


She chuckled and then directed her attention towards the other two people she didn’t know…


“Hello, my name is Shinoda Mariko, I’m a model. Nice to meet you” she said, “I’m sorry for not introducing myself earlier, it’s just that it’s been quite a while since I last saw Yuko…”


“Yeah, she’s always busy, so we don’t really have much time to meet each other” Yuko commented.


“It’s true; actually, I’ve been out of the country for some time, I’ve just gotten back a couple of days ago. Oh, by the way, I’m guessing you already met my boyfriend Kuu…”


“Kuu!? He told us his name’s Ryou…” Riku answered.


“Oh Honey, again?” Marko said to her boyfriend.


“Again??” everyone thought.


“Yes; again. His real name’s Kuuryou, but he’s never liked it, so he always introduced himself as ‘Kuu’…” she explained, “until recently, when I told him ‘Kuu’ sounded cute, since then he introduces himself as ‘Ryou’ instead…”


“B-but my love!! Ryou is far way more interesting than Kuu, besides it sounds cooler with my last name!!” he reasoned.


“He’s right Mariko, ‘Kuu’ sounds quite gay…” Yuko said.


“Hey, Oshima, don’t call me gay!! ‘My love’ can assure you I’m not!!” he said referring to Mariko.


“Is that so…” Yuko said grinning at Mariko.


“N-no comments” she said to Yuko with a light blush, “Sorry Honey…” she apologized to her boyfriend.


The other 3 just watched the discussion while silently eating their food. Kai was used to this, so he didn’t care, but Atsuko and Riku were both amused by Ryou’s – or was it Kuu? – sudden personality change; he went from being timid and introverted, to a noisy and outspoken young man.


Speaking about young, he looked a lot younger than Mariko, or so Riku and Atsuko thought. Atsuko was known for being the curious type of girl, so she ended up asking Kai about it.


“Ehh, Kai-kun, Riku and I have noticed something about your friends… Is Ryo-, I mean, Kuu younger than Mariko?”


“Ehh, no Atsuko-san; actually, Kuu is 30 years old, and Mariko’s 25…”


“Whaaat? Are you serious?” she said, quite surprised.


“Nah, just kidding” he said while laughing, “You guys are right, Kuu is turning 20 this year… I didn’t lie about Mariko’s age, though…”


“Oh, there’s quite an age gap there….”


“Not really, they’re both kids at heart…” Kai said, “Also, they’ve been dating for some time now, about 3 years, if I’m not mistaken…”


“Oh, really?” she then did the Math mentally… “Wait, so that means Kuu was in high school when he and Mariko met!? Doesn’t that make her a pedophile?”


“Lol, I also thought that! But they don’t seem to care about their age gap… Besides they love each other dearly, I wouldn’t be surprised if they get married soon…”


“Wow, I wish I met someone like that… Someone who I love very much and who equally loves me back” she thought.


“Atsuko-saaaan, can you hear me?” Kai said waving his hand in front of Atsuko’s face, taking her out of her trance.


“Ah, yeah, sorry Kai-kun, I got lost in my thoughts…”


“Well, should we continue our meal? Riku seems to have finished a while ago, and he seems bored”


“You’re right! Haha” she said.


“Yo, Riku, if you want to, you can order dessert or something, don’t worry…”


Riku then called the waiter and pointed at three different desserts, all with chocolate on them; it’s like he was just waiting for Kai to say the word.


After all of them finished, they exchanged phone numbers, since they felt they would be meeting multiple times in the future. Finally, when it was time for Kai and Riku, they didn’t want to, but Atsuko intervened and took both of their phones to type their respective numbers on them.


The two guys had no choice but to deal with it, and once again, Atsuko told them to go together to  the salon the next day, Riku NEEDED to go as soon as possible, Kai agreed and they both set an appointment for 12pm the following day.


Once they left the restaurant, Mariko suggested they should all go to a club or something, since it was still early, but Atsuko told them she had to go to school the next day since early in the morning, so she had to get back to her apartment. Yuko accepted, it had been some time since she attended a party or went to a club with her friend; and well, it was more an order than an invitation for Kuu. Kai felt like having fun, and Riku seemed definitely interested.


It was decided, Kai and Riku would take Atsuko back to her apartment, and then they’d head to the club with the other 3 to party during most of the night. Yuko, Mariko, Kuu and Kai al suggested Riku to at least shave his beard, or else he’d have a bad time. He reluctantly agreed; Kai told him they could go to his apartment and borrow some of his clothes (which luckily were standard size, since Kai had just bought them and hadn’t had time to send them to get fixed according to his height).


After the little stop they made, they finally went to the agreed place, and exclusive club where only elite people were allowed.


They partied and drank all night long, until early in the morning, when all of them decided to head home. Kai called a cab for Riku to go back to his hotel, and he accompanied Yuko to her home; Kuu and Mariko went home together, to their shared apartment.


While heading to Yuko’s home, she placed her head on Kai’s shoulder, staying like that for some time. Suddenly she sat back and without hesitation, grabbed Kai’s head and kissed him. Being both quite drunk, they made out until they were yearning for air. Kai then reacted, and realized what they had done; he tried to stop Yuko trying to kiss him again, but drunken girls are known to be quite hard to handle...


Luckily they were just a couple of blocks away from Yuko’s home, so when they arrived he just helped her get inside and went back into the cab, finally going straight home. He didn’t know how, but he got home ‘safely’, and as soon as he reached his bed he fell asleep.


Meanwhile in Yuko’s home, she was sitting on the living room, texting.


“I did it, it worked, just how you said it would…” she wrote, a smile decorating her face.

I'm working on ch. 8, I may introduce new characters in the following chapters... With that said, I'll probably update tomorrow since I wasn't able to finish the chapter today, also I'm sorry for not replying your posts (I'm lazy lol) ehh, actually chemicalstar-san was kinda right; I WAS planning on making Yuko cooperate with Riku, but decided not to, since that's what everyone expects me to do... Yuko's collaborator/sidekick/whatever will be a new character. For now, that's all I can tell you, read you later

Well hello my readers, I've just realized it's been almost 2 weeks since my last update, so I was determined to write chapter 8 ASAP. I kinda ditched (temporarily) my other fic for the sake of this one, so I'll stop slacking off and will try to update at least every week from now on, probably on weekends, since school started yesterday, and it's my last high school semester (finally !!) I had a lot of stuff to do, so I didn't finish the whole chapter... but since I had promised to update, I'll post half of it, and the other half once I'm done. Enough about my boring life, here's chapter 8 (part 1), I expect you to comment once you're done reading it (please? ).

CHAPTER 8

The next day -actually afternoon, around 4 pm- Kai woke up, having the worst of hangovers he had ever experienced; even though he had consumed quite a high amount of alcohol the night before, he still remembered clearly the events that had occurred. A lot happened during their party spree night before: they had completely trashed a club's VIP Room, one of them had puked at another club's dance floor, and a lot of other stuff.


But  the "Yuko incident" was by far the worst of them all; he was deeply ashamed by his -and his friends- misbehavior, but most of all, he regretted what had happened with Yuko, "luckily she was too drunk to remember, so this might not be entirely a bad thing" he thought.


But he was wrong. Yuko had planned this with the help of one of her acquantices, someone Kai didn't know, someone not even Mariko, her best friend, knew.


But who was this person exactly? How had Yuko got to know him/her? Why was he/she helping Yuko? Too many questions to be answered at a time...


Going back to Kai, he suddenly remembered he and Riku had set an appointment at the salon for today, so he texted his "friend".


Dude, are you still alive?


He quickly got a reply.


Why yes, of course I am, I actually thought you weren't though... Btw thanks, you made me lose my appointment, idiot.


Yeah, about that, I'm sorry. I drank a lot last night and woke up all hungover, don't worry, I'm a regular costumer there, so I'm pretty sure they won't mind... For instance, get changed, we'll meet at Atsuko-san's place and go to the salon from there.


"Idiot, I forgot Atsuko isn't home today!!" he thought as he was writing back to Riku, to change the meeting place.


I'm already here since an hour ago, she invited me to eat a home-cooked meal, which btw was delicious. I guess this is what being best friends is all about... Anyway, hurry up, little guy!!



"Ehh, she's home?! Wasn't she going to school the whole day?" he thought, "did she lie to me?"


As Kai read that last message from Riku, he was feeling confused. Confused because as far as he knew, Atsuko wasn't supposed to be home, also he felt his blood was boiling with jealousy...


Why had Atsuko told him a lie? Why had she cooked for Riku? As of now, they had only gone eating to some restaurants around town, but she had never cooked for him... didn't he mean anything to her? Maybe he didn't stand a chance against Riku. maybe he was just wasting time with Atsuko...


Those kinds of thoughts popped into his mind, though he knew he might be overreacting... There had to be an explanation, Atsuko wasn't that kind of girl.


Then he remembered something important: Riku was his RIVAL; sure, he wasn't that bad, hell he actually liked the guy's personality, but he was also -discretely- courting Atsuko. And by how things seemed to be, Kai realized he was in a pinch.


If he didn't do something quickly, he was gonna lose the girl he liked to this guy; and he wasn't going to -he couldn't- let that happen. He was gonna fight for her.


With this newly-found determination, he got up from his bed and rushed inside the bathroom; he took a cold shower to recover from last night's side-effects. He got dressed and left his penthouse a few minutes later. Mid-way he stopped by a flower shop, and bought Atsuko some flowers. Then he continued his way to her place.


When he arrived, Riku was the one who opened the door.


"Oh Kai, are those for me? Thank youuu" he sarcastically said.


"You wish, they're for Atsuko-san... Also-" he muttered as he punched Riku's arm, "that's for calling me little guy" he said, a little annoyed.


"Rikuu, is Kai here already?" Atsuko asked her childhood friend; she was currently busy inside the kitchen.


"Yeah, Atsuko-san, it's me", Kai ignored Riku's presence and made his way inside the apartment and into the kitchen.


There, Atsuko was facing the stove, her back towards Kai; she wore a light-blue apron, and was currently taking care of the nabe pot which had recently started boiling. A delicious smell fastly filled the small room, and Kai felt his stomach started grunting.


Riku had trolled him; yes, Atsuko had invited him to eat, but she had also asked him to tell Kai about it. He had decided to tell him "his way", making Kai distrust Atsuko a little in the process... He was definitely getting back at him. But not this time, probably.


"Ehh, Atsuko-san, I brought you some flowers..." Kai timidly said.


"Oh, they're gorgeous!!" she exclaimed, "you can  put them in the vase that's on the dining room, if you want... Food's almost done, so please tell Riku to set the table, Kai-kun" she said.


"Got it!" he answered, Atsuko let out a small laugh seeing how high-spirited Kai was.


Kai then proceded "out" of the kitchen to tell Riku what Atsuko had just told him, while making his way to grab the vase decorating the dining table; he left the flowers there and went into the bathroom to pour some water into said vase.


As he made his way back into the relatively small LDK, he saw Riku was about to start doing his task, so he quicly grabbed the flowers, teared away the cellophane, an placed them in the vase.


While Riku was almost done setting the table, Atsuko was preparing to bring the hotpot from the stove to the dining table; since Kai didn't have any other task left, he just sat on the couch to avoid gettig in the way.


A few minutes later, perfectionist  Riku was -finally- done, so he told Kai and Atsuko to sit down. Since Atsuko was the host -an the cook-, she refused being the first one to eat; instead, she insisted on letting the two guys try the food before she did, so they gave their opinion about it.


"Well, to be honest, last time I ate something that was cooked by you, it was hella salty, Atsuko-san..." Kai said with a hesitant voice.


"Oh yeah, about that... I did it on purpose" she responded with a smirk on her face, "I actually tried some, just to see how salty it was, and let me say I was very pressed by the fact that you were actually able to eat all of it..."


"Yeah, up to this day I'm not even sure how I managed to do it... I had a terrible stomach ache for 3 consecutive days, you know?!" He said, all hyped.


Riku cleared his throat to interrupt their conversation, he didn't like the idea of being left out.


"We should start eating before it gets cold", he said.


"Ah-- yeah..." the other two answered.


The rest of the meal was eaten without making that much noise; just the occasional random comments from all three of them, and the sound of cutlery smashing against the plates.


Once they were done, each of them grabbed their plates and glasses and tucked them in the dish-washer. Atsuko told them they should better leave if they wanted to get to the salon before the sun set, hence by the time Riku's haircut was done, they'd be returning home a little late.


The two guys obeyed, and after saying their goodbyes to their friend, the headed to their destination. (...)

Wow, it's been a while since someone commented, thanks for reading this *cough* nonsense *cough*

Lately I haven't been inspired to continue this fic -nor the other, which doesn't even have a name yet- , but I expect to complete them before I go to college, in August... I'll try to write an update asap, though it's gonna be hard since my computer died

So next chapter's finally done!! I'm sorry, 'cause I'm sure there are some typos, but I didn't have time to proofread it, I wanted to post it ASAP, I hope you like it, please don't forget to comment. Also, sorry for this is a very short update.

Chapter 8 (Part 2)

The two young men had to make a 45 min voyage into the heart of the city, were only the most exclusive clothes shops, restaurants, and all those kinds of social-friendly places were; needless to say, only the wealthiest, well-known people went there, not because it was forbidden for anyone aside from them to go, but because the cheapest thing/product/anything you could find was a few hundred dollars worth… “Normal” people wouldn’t even consider stepping a foot near there.


“Hey, this place looks Taylor-made for rich people, are yo usure we’re not lost?”, Riku questioned his frenemy.
“Nah, don’t worry; the place we’re going to is not that expensive, besides they know me, so I get a discount every time I stop by, that is, every once in a while… Since I’m bringing a friend, I suppose that applies to you as well”, Kai confidently replied.


“I guess it’s fine, then…  Anyways, are we there yet? We’ve been walking for a while now, and let’s just say I don’t particularly consider myself the athelic kinda type of guy…”


“Yeah, you see that Italian Restaurant over there? Just around the corner”, the litt-Kai said.


“Finally!! My legs hurt like a bitch”, an exhausted Riku exclaimed.


“Man, you’re such a girl…”, Kai sighed


“Are you implying I’m gay?! Watch it Midget!!”


“What did you just say, Japanese Yetti?! You better run if you don’t want me to hurt you that badly!!” Kai exclaimed as he started pursuing a now-frightened Riku, much to the Street spectators dismay


“W-wait Kai, I didn’t mean it!! Calm down” Riku shouted as he ran looking for safety wherever he could find it
“You should’ve thought it thoroughly, then! You already know how much I hate people making fun of my height…”


“Y-yeah, yeah…  I know, I know. I’m sorry dude, I promise to think before I say anyting… Now please, can we at least arrive to our destination acting as the human beings we’re supposed to be?”


“Fine… But I already warned you, so you better watch out”, replied Kai,  after calming down.


“By the way, you said the place was just around the corner, but since you started chasing me, I didn’t notice at all when we passed it… Where are we?”


Kai stopped for a moment, and analyzed his surroundings. He had been quiet for a few minutes, and Riku realized that he didn’t know where they were either. To say it in a few words, they were completely lost, even if Kai had been living there during his whole life, it was impossible for him to know every single place within the city.


Suddenly he got an idea, calling the owner and asking him for directions – something most guys hate to do, and leave as their last resource -,he had no choice but to do so. He quickly dialed the number as Riku waited beside him, trying to catch the conversation.


After a few minutes of greetings and random conversation, Kai finally was able to ask where the hell were Riku and him:


“… and that’s what happened.” he said.


A few laughs could be Heard from the other side of the pone, probably the owner having fun telling the other stylists and maybe even the secretary about Kai and Riku’s Little adventure.


“Don’t worry Honey, you’re just a few blocks away; you two just need to walk straight for a couple of blocks, then turn right when you see a and on the next block cross the street.” I’ll be out in case you don’t find it right away.”


“Thank you SO much, I’ll surely pay you back… Ask for anything and if it’s within my power, I’ll definitely get it for you.”


“Oh, Kai, you’re such a sweet boy… What I want is something I’ll surely never have, don’t worry, Honey, I’m fine”


“I insist, I must than you for always helping me out, you’re more than just a hair stylist for me, I consider you as family…”


Meanwhile Riku was still listening to the conversation, and thought Kai was being kinda pushy, but decided to let it go, since he and the salon’s owner knew each other from a long time ago. After a few moments of silence, an answer was finally given: “Ok, but I’ll tell you when you arrive.” The owner then hung up, and the two young frenemies started their trip back. Within a few minutes, and after following the directions, Kai and Riku were finally arriving to their destination; a few hours later than expected.


Riku thought something was off; all he could see was a black guy standing in front of a hair salon, not only that but “he” was wearing quite a flashy outfit: a non-sleeved pink shirt with some strange designs,  yellow short pants and shoes that matched.


“Something is definitely off…"


“KAI, HONEY!” the big, muscular, showy guy exclaimed.


“Trisha! How are you? It’s been a while since I last came to get a haircut…” Kai answered.
“Ok, Trisha?! Oh God, Kai…” Riku thought,while doing a  mental face palm.


“This is my friend Riku, he’s gonna be your ‘victim’ today” Kai said.


“Victim?! Am I gonna get raped or something?!”


“Oh, Honey, stop it, you’re scaring him..” Trisha commented.


“Haha, I’m sorry, I guess he’s just not used to seing a male hairstylist, don’t worry pal, Trisha’s not going to hurt you or anything”


“R-right...” Riku answered shyly.


“Don’t worry uhmm…”


“Riku, my name’s Riku”


“Yes; don’t worry Riku, I’ll treat you” he then approached to his ears and whispered “very gently”


“Of course Kai knew Trisha was just messing around, but he couldn’t help laughing when he saw Riku’s freaked-out expression, he lñaughed so much he nearly pissed his pants”


“Kai, I HATE you” Riku whispered to the shorter guy next to him, once Trisha was gone to prepare the products “she” was going to be using on Riku’s hair, prior to his haircut… the guy could use some help, honestly.


Once “she” was back, Riku was told to sit on a chair and just relax, ‘cause this was going to take a while. Trisha was known for being very serious about “her” job, and sometimes took the liberty of doing some minor changes to her clients looks, thinking they might look even better in the end.


This is exactly what was happening right now; “she” suddenly got an idea to improve Riku’s appearance, though it was a little risky, considering how Riku was the type of guy who seems to be against change, specially when he was the one who had to change, even if it was juat a slight bit.


With this in mind, she decided not to tell him, and instead discuss with Kai about it; first mistake. Kai loved playing pranks, and considering Riku was his rival (even if he actually liked the guy as a friend) he didn’t hesitate in agreeing with Trisha, he even made a suggestion; second mistake.


Riku had fallen asleep midway, and by the time he wake up Trisha was just finishing. It wasn’t a surprise how the por guy reacted when he saw himself in the mirror, with visibly shorter hair, and red-colored portions of it.


Riku was utterly shocked, and even exclaimed in surprised when he saw his “new” self. Kai was laughing uncontrollably, while Trisha was confused by both guys’ reactions. This was gonna have consequences, not the good type.
