Part 2
Rena had never thought that she’ll do it. Introducing Jun to someone else despite her heart forbade her to do so. But, what could she do? She was just shocked, angry, and disappointed back then that she finally accomplished Jun’s request. She never expected that she’ll drag Mayu into this.
Rena glanced to the clock before her eyes caught her phone that was laid beside her on the bed. Now she remembered her conversation with Mayu through emails last night.

It’s okay, Rena-chan.

I know it’s a bit shocking. So sorry. 
He’s my childhood and best friend and he begged like a monkey. Before I realized it I already promise him to introduce him to you. I don’t have any bad intentions, trust me. But still, it’s a haste of me so, I’m sorry. I’ll explain it more and apologize properly once we met.

Yeah… A truly nice and baka guy.Rena sighed even more once she realized, again, that she already drag the kind Mayu along to her matter. Mayu’s truly a very sweet and nice girl.
Oh God.., what have I done? What should I explain to Mayu tomorrow? And how could I face him tomorrow?Rena could sense the little pain in her heart just thinking that she had acted on the contrary of what she had desired.
I’m sorry, heart… I’ve betrayed you once again…And there, she cried herself to sleep.

Few days later, At SchoolJun already arrived to school earlier than usual. Well, he’s already planned it since he didn’t want to see Rena this morning too. He’s been doing it for a week. It’s not like they went to school together every morning, it’s just because she lived next door to him so it’s a very possible thing to bump on her on the way school. And for today, he didn’t want it happen.
Sitting next to him, an ikemen boy was staring at him. He kept wondering why his best buddy acted so strangely this morning. He went mourning all this time, not like his usual genki nature. Well, little did he know what made his buddy being like this, it’s because a certain girl and because his buddy’s own stupidity. But however, he didn’t want to spit his thoughts out, not yet, until this puppy boy spit everything out on his own. Sure, this puppy boy could be very sensitive some times, even more sensitive than a girl who’s on her ‘PMS period’.
"Haigh…."
For the 1048th times (Well, maybe less) Sae heard Jun sighing. All he could do just following his sighs loyally. Jun sighed once again before turning his head to Sae and said, “I’ve considered your words that she might be has a special feeling for me. But as you can see, she’s playing this matchmaker role and introduced me with someone else.”
Sae shook his head to Jun’s words and retorted back, “Jeez, Jun. Aren’t you the one who begged her to introduce you to a girl?”
“Jeez, Sae. Can’t you see the sole truth behind all this? If she has that certain feeling for me, she won’t be that easy to introduce me to that girl. She must’ve trying to prohibit me to get close to another girl. Well, at least, she must’ve tried her best to refuse it.”
Sae hit the table and stared at Jun. Now he doesn’t give a shit whether Jun was in his sensitive mode or what. “For God’s sake, Jun. I’ve got no idea whether you’re trying to act fool or being a complete fool. You know her, Jun. If you were in her shoes, will you refuse it when your childhood plus best friend ask you for a help and begging. You yourself told me how Rena cared for you that she’s willing to do almost everything for you.” Sae sighed even harder. “And I know how annoying you are when begging.”
Jun got in silence, thinking before replied Sae, “Well, whatever the situation is, I’ll refuse to be a fucking matchmaker and put my own feeling in the first place.”
“Even for your childhood friend? For your own best friend? Do you think you have the right to do so? Forbade her for having a relationship with someone?”
“Why not? Since I want her for my own self.”
“Says the one who never succeed to confess.”
“Whatever. I’ll try my best to keep her away from any boys before I could confess my feelings. Not like her who introduced me to someone else.”
Sae frowned at Jun’s answer, “Well, it shows how selfish you are. And Rena is not you.” Sae stood and left.
Jun followed Sae’s figure leaving in silence.
Selfish? That’s what everyone does when loving someone, right?***
Rena had just arrived at school. Unlike usual, she went a bit later than usual. She felt lazy to come to school, but she could not just skip when feeling down every time. She’s Matsui Rena after all. A noble student and reliable class-president.
She kept walking with her head lowering down, thoughts filling her mind. She knew those thoughts were driving her crazy as she stopped her steps and shook her head vigorously.
No. Stop thinking about it, Rena! It’s been a week since that Saturday night. She barely saw Jun this whole week as she herself kept distancing from him. She barely talked to Mayu too since she’s preparing for her movement and things.
“Matsui-san?”
Rena startled as she heard a voice called her name. she lifted her head and recognized the figure standing before her.
“H-Haik?”
“Are you okay?”
“Y-Yes, Nakanishi-sensei.”
Nakanishi-sensei, Rena’s homeroom teacher sighed in relief as she heard her lovely student’s answer. “Well, anyway, I need you to come with me to the office. I have some things to tell you as you’re the class-pres.”
“Wakarimashita.”

Watanabe Mayu stood outside the class nervously. It’s not her first time being transferred to a new school, but still, she couldn’t avoid the trembling hands and thumping hearts and nosebleed. (Okay. Ignore the last one). She sighed and sighed as she heard the homeroom teacher said to her soon-to-be-classmates that they’re having new student.
“Watanabe-san, you can come in,” The homeroom teacher said.
Mayu stepped in the class. She could hear whispers from the students in the class despite her lowered head. She stopped as she placed herself standing next to the teacher.
“Okay. Please introduce yourself to everyone.”
Mayu lifted her head, took a deep breath and uttered, “I’m Watanabe Mayu. I’ve been transferred from Tokyo. Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu.” She bowed to the now-noisy-class.”
“Kawaii…”
“Yes. Even her voice is cute too.”
Mayu smiled as now she felt a bit more confident. It seems like she’s being warmly welcomed. Her eyes looked through the class and a bit surprised when seeing a certain figure.
I-Isn’t that Rena-chan? She watched the figure and found Rena smiling and waving her hand in silence. She felt relieved that she’s in the same class as Rena’s.
“Well… Because Matsui-san is our class-pres I think it’d better if you sit next to her since she can be your guide. Matsui-san is the one who’s waving at you there, Watanabe-san. You could take your seat there.” Nakanishi-sensei said in amusement. The class giggled and Rena could feel her cheeks heated as she slowly put her hands down.
Mayu walked up to her seat and smiled at Rena who was smiling back at her.

BreakRena raised and approached Mayu who’s fixing her things. “Well, I think it’s time for me to guide you around, Watanabe-san.”
Mayu smiled at Rena’s antic and replied, “Thank you for your guidance, Matsui-san.”
“Please, no thanks before I’ve accomplished my mission, Watanabe-san.”
“I can feel your desire to guide me, Matsui-san. But, I think my stomach has another desire as it’s growing so hard.”
Now both of them laughed hard and walked out of the class with their hands bringing bentos.
“You seem not surprised to see me being in the same class with you.” Mayu asked Rena.
“Well, since I’m the class-pres I’ve already been told by Nakanishi-sensei that there’ll be a new student in our class and I know it’s you. I told her that you’re my acquaintance and then she decided to pair us.” Rena told Mayu the truth. “Well, honestly, I never expected that you’ll be in the same class with me.” Rena giggled.
“Yeah, me too.” Mayu giggled too. “Now, tell me where you’re bringing me, Rena-chan.”
“I’ll bring you to my secret place. I know you’re supposed to mingle with other students as the part of adapting, but as for today, I just want you to spend your time with me since I miss you a lot.” Rena answered in a teasing manner.
“Owh… It’s so romantic of you, Matsui-san.”
Both kept laughing and chatting till they arrived at the so-called-Matsui Rena’s-secret place. It’s actually just the backyard of the school which other students rarely visit. Actually, usually Rena spent the lunch-break with some of her close friends, including Jun on the rooftop. But because she’s literally avoiding him, she decided to take Mayu to her ‘secret place’. They took a seat on an old bench under a tree and opened their bentos. They ate their bentos while chatting about old things they shared together and laughed at them. After a while, they finished their lunches and finished their sharing of stories. Now silence engulfed between them. Rena gulped as she knew that now is her turn to explain everything and apologize to Mayu relating to ‘that’ thing. She raised, moved to stand in front of Mayu and bowed.
“Hontou ni gomen, Mayu-chan.”
Mayu startled at Rena’s action. “Mou… What’s that for, Rena-chan?”
Rena lifted her head and faced Mayu. As Mayu’s figure in front of her filling her sight, she could only feel more guilt. She sifted her gaze to the side. “You know… For this silly-matchmaking thing.”
Mayu was amazed by Rena’s action as in the next second, she chuckled lightly. “Gosh. You’re a serious bump, Rena.”
“I’m being seriously feeling guilty as I don’t know how to apologize properly to you. I’m feeling really sorry.”
Mayu sighed at Rena’s guilt. “How many more times I should tell you that I’m really fine with it, Rena.”
Rena stared at Mayu in doubtful. “Really? You know, you could just scold me or refused if you want to. I already anticipated it.”
Mayu studied Rena’s expression and stated, “You know, I’m getting nervous and awkward here since you look so sorry for this thing.” Mayu showed a faint smile. “You said that this Jun is a nice guy and I believe it. And now, seeing you this regretful, I’m starting to doubt it.”
Mayu’s answer took Rena’s surprise. She waved her hands, shook her heads vigorously to Mayu. “No No No No. He’s a really a nice guy.” Rena blurted out.
“Well, it’s really alright then.” Mayu answered non-chalantly.
“Yeah. But, still, I don’t know whether this will turn out to be good or not.” Rena sighed.
Mayu kept silence as she heard Rena sighing out. The next second she asked, “Do you regret doing it, Rena-chan?”
Rena’s eyes widen. “Don’t get me wrong, Mayu-chan. Well, I don’t know, I didn’t think about it thoroughly back then. I just don’t want to give you any difficulties, Mayu-chan…”
Mayu chuckled. “I don’t take it as a difficulty nor burden, Rena-chan. Just relax.”
“Well, you know, he could be very annoying sometimes.”
“I see.” Mayu nodded.
“But, he’s a good boy after all.” Rena then told Mayu how careless Jun could be and how clueless he was. But despite all these, he’s a boy with a kind heart.
“You seem know him well. Are you really close to him?” Mayu asked.
“Yeah… what do you expect from a childhood friend and next-door neighbor?” Rena scoffed. “Don’t forget that he always said that I’m his best friend.”
“Well, he said the same thing.”
“Yeah… Despite being a friend of him…” Rena’s voice trailed off as she’s just realizing what Mayu said before. “He what?!”
“He said the same thing.” Mayu answered Rena.
Rena stared at Mayu astonished. She kept staring at Mayu as if Mayu was a parrot talking in Russian.
Mayu rubbed her neck before speaking to Rena as she knew the meaning of Rena’s astonished expression. “Well… You know, Rena… He already texted me and we chat almost every night from a while ago and I could sense he’s a nice and funny guy… I thought you already knew it since both of you said that you’re close…” Mayu’s voice trailed as she saw Rena’s surprised and uncertain face.
Rena could feel her heart thumping loudly as she learned the new fact from Mayu. Somehow, Mayu’s statement felt like a slap on a face.
Didn’t he say that I’m his best friend?The more she thought about it, the more she knew that the distance between her and Jun was getting wider.
I’m feeling like… being clueless about you, Jun… ~~~TBC~~~
