BIG NEWS! There's going to be a new Gavan! And when I say a "new" Gavan, I mean a NEW Gavan!
Two Gavans Return to the Big Screens!

It was reported yesterday that a new Uchuu Keijii Gavan movie was definitely happening and now we’ve finally got some more news to pass along thanks to Eiga.com!
Gavan was the first show in Toei’s third action tokusatsu franchise called Metal Heroes. The franchise began in 1982 and lasted up to 1998. The first three shows followed the theme of the characters being Space Sheriffs assigned to earth to protect it from alien criminals, this lasted until 1985 before the franchise stretched its legs and began trying out different themes. These shows gained popularity quickly and were ratings power houses, beating out Toei’s Super Sentai and Kamen Rider shows in all by one of the years it was on the air. And now they’re back!
Gavan returned in January’s Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger VS Uchuu Keiji Gavan film earlier this year that saw the Space Sheriff team up with a group of wanted Sentai members. Now it’s time for Gavan’s solo film in a grand celebration of the franchise. The staff aim to revive fond memories of the past for older fans and reignite an entire new generation of fans. Definitely sounds like we might get a new series one day.
Now here comes the odd part. The rumors for this movie were saying that there was going to be a new Gavan and…well, it’s true. Jyumonji Geki will be played by Ishigaki Yuuma, playing the second Gavan and at the moment this is all we know. The details surrounding his appearance won’t be made public until a later date though.
Prolific Ultraman writer and director, Yuuji Kobayashi (head writer for Garo and Ultraseven X) will be writing the script while directorial duties go to Osamu Kanada, director of all three “All Rider” movies. The film opens October 20th later this year.
Just on a personal note, the Metal Heroes franchise has been my favorite for about two years now and I’ve come to look up to Kenji Ohba as an idol and my favorite tokusatsu actor. It’s going to be a shame to see him go if this is his final time as Gavan, but at least he gets a great send off.

EDIT: UPDATED – New Cast Members Join Gavan Movie
UPDATE – So we’ve learned that Jumonji will be the next Gavan. In the series Gavan is Retsu’s code name and it will now be passed down to the new guy. Joining the cast is Jumonji’s partner, Okuma Toya played by Nagaoka Takuya (known for her role as the Centipede Orphnoch in Decade’s Faiz World) and the heroine of the story, Sherry, played by Morita Suzuka. (Shinken Yellow) It is said that the movie will also include a love story.

http://risingsuntokusatsu.com/2012/07/13/updated-new-cast-members-join-gavan-movie-2/I figured/hoped that with the whole "new Gavan" thing, that it would be done in this manner, like the passing of the torch/title/name from the old gen to the new gen. Definitely the classy/respectful way to do it.
Also, as awesome as Ohba Kenji is, at his age it's getting harder to believe that, if he were to continue to play the role (of Retsu/1st Gavan), that his character would still be physically able to do what a Space Sheriff needs to do in terms of fighting and what not. It's also not as dumb as doing something like what they did with Den-O when they "made Ryotarou/Hana young" to get different actors to play the roles (still wub Kohana though).
Also, OMGASS, SUUCHAN'S GONNA BE IN IT!
