judging from her sales in the H!P shops she actually has a decent amount of japanese fans(a month recentlyish she was the top seller of BK!) it just seems she's lacking in western fans...no idea why though.

I was a Saki fan first but after i saw Maasa live in the autumn concert, she became my "nr.1" <3
It was like i couldn't take my eyes off her. *_*
And i like the fact that she got more lines in the new album cuz i like her singing! :3

Yeah, people have noticed at H!O too, someone posted a blog and it was sort of a side note. Most of the pictures i've seen though were low resolution, but it's easy to see if you compare close enough
