street fighter was and will always be one of the best beat em up games.
It led the way for beat em ups!

and yes I have one of those comics, i have the first one! I've seen the films but not the series - is it any good??

I'm not that great at the pure SF titles (although I do ok with Cammy). I much better at Marvel vs Capcom 2 - Team up Cammy and Morrgian with the master marvel super vilian = Pimp-daddy Magneto!
But that game is just fun. Not as serious as the other SF titles.

The artwork in those SF comics is so kick ass. Master-godai, here in the forums, has a nice collection of those. I should borrow them...i think all i read was the Cammy one. Oh the one about Morrigan.

It's not bloody likely to hear a "Street Fighter 4" coming out... 2-D fighters are seemingly going the way of the dinosaur. The only 2-D fighter I can think of that's pretty popular is Melty Blood.

I loved Street Fighter 2. I've since been lured away by Tekken and Soul Calibur, but Street Fighter still has a special place in my heart.

Oddly, I'm mostly interested in SF for nostolgia, so the idea of new SF games doesn't appeal. I'm not really interested in anything post Super Street Fighter II Turbo.

I saw quite a few tournament matches for it for a while, but I kinda quit the competitive fighting thing a while ago. It seemed to be going good for a while, but hell, the Hokuto no Ken game seemed to be going good for a while.

Technically it IS possible to have a SF Tourney, zSnes has netplay
(even though it's not as good as arcade netplay it'd work for the most people

Also Street Fighter 3rd Strike is my fav. game of all time

I'm pretty sure you can play on MAME, and if you can, then it'd be better since we'd have the arcade version. I think I'll look into. It might suck for me though. Back when I was playing Melty Blood online with a friend of mine, we always had horrible lag. It may not be that bad for SF since it's not that fast anyway.

^I've thought about getting MAME for arcade roms, mainly for some of the older fighting games I used to play, but I'd have to find myself a good arcade-style fighting stick.

A friend I knew had MAME,, and got a connector for his arcade stick that he used with his playstation, so he could plug it in to his comp and use it for fighting games.

That's what I do too. I got a USB-to-PS2 controller adapter hooked up to my arcade stick. It's nice playing on PC because I can set the stick on my computer desk instead of on my lap like when I play on console.

wow thats kind of how i played with bison on super street fighter 2 turbo... use the medium punch as a dragon punch substitute

and cool looking at a tutorial after you learned this stuff out the hard way lol. his terminology is different from myne, but i know whats saying though.

Midwest Challenge in IL is coming up this President's Day weekend. There will be Super Turbo, but I doubt I'll enter because I barely play ST, but maybe I'll start with some casuals while I'm there. I'm going for Guilty Gear, so I'll probably try to play the as much as possible so I can loosen up a bit.
