For Konkon's birthday, I use the screenname she used in a fanfic I read, AK-57 for Asami Konno 5-7. Actually, now that I think about it, the comparison with the AK-47 is pretty good, and by that I mean that both are:
-Reliable
-Powerful
-Popular
-Distinctive
-Large appetite

This seems like a good opportunity to use this analogy to reminisce about Konno.

Reliable: Konno was so on top of the Iroppoi Jirettai performance on Music Station, that when Sayu was starting to go the wrong way, Konkon yanked her along with her in the right direction. As a result, you couldn't tell anything was wrong unless you were looking for it, and a potentially botched live performance was saved.

Powerful: Has such power over other peoples' minds that months after her graduation, references to her still appeared on H!M. Her appearance in the 10th anniversary concert was bigger news than the graduations of the members she came for. Uploaders continue to post her pictures.

Popular: Her merchandise was consistently some of the best selling in H!P before she graduated. Known for having some of the most diehard fans, few others in H!P inspired the same kind of devotion.

Large appetite: While she doesn't eat up ammunition, the girl loves food and munching. A girl after my own heart.

I couldn't agree more.

Oh, and you forgot about 'distinctive' -- with her characteristic beauty, voice and perfect dancing (not to mention gorgeous body) she definitely stood out among other MM members.

Aww, reading that made me happy ^_^ It's all so true. Konkon is the cutest, sweetest member and she gave 110% in everything, which is more than can be said for most of the current members.

And yes, everyday should be KONKON DAY:heart:

(she also has the best "chu" face ^_^)

Meanwhile, Konno, noticing how clueless Sayu is, grabs her by the arm as she goes past and pulls her along with her. Since Music Station is a live show, a botched performance can't be done over.

wow.. i had to rewatch the scene like 3 times to see konkon yanking sayu out of the jam. whoever said she was a failure member should be ashamed of themselves.

That's probably what struck me the most about that incident. The fact that it's so hard to detect. Not only did she fix the problem, but she fixed it such that it was very hard to spot in the first place. If Konkon didn't save Sayu, there's a whole realm of bad things that could have happened, which includes collision with the other girls. Not only did she save Sayu, but potentially the entire group as well. The window that Konno had to identify what was happening and do something about it was pretty small, and could easily have been missed, especially by someone who is concentrating on their own performance. As it happened though, potential disaster was turned into an otherwise normal performance.

Admirable, to say the least.

Oh, and btw, I'm pretty sure that Tsunku was one of the first to call her a failure, lol. Despite this, or perhaps because of this, he picked her. This is probably why I don't question Tsunku's picks anymore.

since it was tsunku i'll let it slide just this once. like slack said, it was amazing how konkon was able to see sayu's mistake and yet corrected it without anyone noticing, truly remarkable, only something our very own konkon could of pulled off.

I've looked at it over and over and I think what we're seeing is mainly preplanned. Konno doesn't notice that Sayu is going the wrong way, because she isn't even looking at Sayu. I think Sayu does take one step in the wrong direction, but I think she corrects herself and has to hurry up to get to her next position on the other side of the stage and she's running behind Konno whereas she should be a step ahead of her; but I don't think Konno grabs her arm. It sort of looks like she does at first, but I think Konno is just holding her arms the way she's supposed to for the dance and it happens that one arm is swung back behind her. Relative to the camera, Konno's arm is positioned where it would be if she were sort of pulling Sayu, but I can't find a clear shot where I can see clearly one way or another whether Konno is really holding onto any part of Sayu.
I may be wrong, but it looks to me that Konno just does what she's supposed to do, and Sayu fixes her own mistake. Again, the main evidence is that Konno just isn't looking at Sayu through the whole thing. If somebody can get a freeze frame that definitely shows Konno grabbing Sayu, that would be cool.
