Personally, it wouldn't surprise me if they were doing it special because it's Konkon. It's not every day, after all, that a former idol joins your broadcast team. Sure, she only "recently debuted" as an announcer, but even then, she still individually already has more experience being in front of the camera than the other 10-15 new announcers that they hired have put together. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me if some of the other new announcers have watched/seen Konkon on TV back when she was still in MM.

Staff making them do the "tsundere girl" bit (starting at around the 4:45 mark) = BRILLIANT!

Konkon and her partner Moeko Uedo definitely have chemistry, and the producers are right to let a little of the idol kawaii pop out once in a while. If Asami was covering a traffic accident, they wouldn't use it, but when promoting an entertainment product it is natural to let the inner kawaii shine.
