^Lol that was pretty interesting. Bruce Willis is pretty awesome so should be worth checking out.

Also I think this is pretty interesting concept. I think it gives Resident Evil 5 a run for it's money LOL.

2001 on Blu-ray, then back-to-back with Serenity. It's a Sci-Fi then and now.

I never watched 2001 before (maybe did when I was a kid, but don't remember any of it. except that monolith, why do I remember that!).
So I went in with no idea what it would be. except HAL killing ppl.

Some of the music was unsettling, I don't know if it's a feeling of hatred or edginess or whatever. Only thing I can compare it with is the rising note in The Dark Knight.

I felt none of the 4 mini-stories had a real ending and didn't even give you a full idea of what is actually happening, making you fill in the blanks. I don't remember many movies that made you think so much.
And for the ending, I was totally going WTF. I bet all the viewers that saw it the first time thought that too. Not in a bad way. Just in a "what the hell just happened, am i still sitting here. do i still have a nose!". XD

It freaked me more because most of the movie had such a slow pace, i was totally suprised with the speed of the final parts.

Oh, and I liked Serenity too. :twothumbs

News: 'Buffy' in for feature relaunch
A new incarnation of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" could be coming to the big screen.

"Buffy" creator Joss Whedon isn't involved and it's not set up at a studio, but Roy Lee and Doug Davison of Vertigo Entertainment are working with original movie director Fran Rubel Kuzui and her husband, Kaz Kuzui, on what is being labeled a remake or relaunch, but not a sequel or prequel.

While Whedon is the person most associated with "Buffy," Kuzui and her Kuzui Enterprises have held onto the rights since the beginning, when she discovered the "Buffy" script from then-unknown Whedon. She developed the script while her husband put together the financing to make the 1992 movie, which was released by Fox.

Kuzui later teamed with Gail Berman, then president of Sandollar Television, bringing back Whedon to make the TV series, which was produced by Fox TV and launched on the WB in 1997. Kuzui and Sandollar received executive producer credits on "Buffy" and its spinoff, "Angel."
The new "Buffy" film, however, would have no connection to the TV series, nor would it use popular supporting characters like Angel, Willow, Xander or Spike. Vertigo and Kuzui are looking to restart the story line without trampling on the beloved existing universe created by Whedon, putting the parties in a similar situation faced by Paramount, J.J. Abrams and his crew when relaunching "Star Trek."

One of the underlying ideas of "Buffy" allows Vertigo and Kuzui to do just that: that each generation has its own vampire slayer to protect it. The goal would be to make a darker, event-sized movie that would, of course, have franchise potential.

The parties are meeting with writers and hearing takes, and later will look for a home for the project. The producers do not rule out Whedon's involvement but have not yet reached out to him.Speaking from Tokyo, Fran Kuzui said the company is constantly approached not only about sequels but theater, video games and foreign remakes for "Buffy." When Vertigo's Lee contacted them, they were intrigued.

"It was Roy's interest in taking Buffy into a new place that grabbed us," she said, noting that original exec producer Sandy Gallin also was consulted. "It was based on our respect for what he does, and his particular sensitivity to Asian filmmakers, that we wanted to work with him."

Kuzui, who is prepping do direct a movie in Japan in the fall, added: "Everything has its moment. Every movie takes on a life at some point, and this seems like the moment to do this."

So a Buffy the Vampire Slayer Film without the lovable scooby gang or Joss Whedon himself?
Fans aren't taking this well =T

Dan Aykroyd says 'Ghostbusters 3' may start filming in winter

I just visited with Dan Aykroyd over at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip for an interview for an upcoming feature in the Los Angeles Times (you'll be able to find it here on the Hero Complex as well). We talked about a wide range of topics, but I didn't want to wait on this update about the third "Ghostbusters" film, which is moving forward after so many years.

Aykroyd said Sigourney Weaver is on board now, as are the original squad of ectoplasmic specialists -- Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson. Murray's presence was the pivot point in making a third film happen. He holds a one-fifth controlling interest in the property rights and has been seen as the most reluctant to return to the paranormal comedy. Aykroyd said that is true but that it's more nuanced than the public portrayal of the situation.

"I don't put not making the third movie on Billy. We can't do that. I've been very busy. Harold's been busy, Ivan's been busy. And a third script really didn't coalesce properly. And Billy, you can't blame an artist for not wanting to do the same thing again. He did two of them, for God's sake. Although I'm the biggest cheerleader as the originator of the concept but I've never begrudged Billy not doing a third movie. I never said he held it up or that he refused. Hey, listen, he's an artist. You can't force somebody into it. I'm sorry he never read my third draft because I thought it was pretty good but, look, now we're at a point that there's a story that he can accept and that's going to work, and I think we're going to be in production fairly soon. We could be in production by winter."

The script is by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, the writing team behind the upcoming Jack Black/Michael Cera movie "Year One" (directed by Ramis), and Aykroyd is enthused about its premise of a new generation of Ghostbusters taking over the duties of the aging team. Aykroyd said he wishes Ivan Reitman would return to direct the third film in the series but that he's "too busy as a mega-producer" to take it on; his second choice is Ramis, who, of course, co-wrote the first two "Ghostbusters" films with Aykroyd and has numerous directing credits, most notably "Groundhog Day" and "Analyze This." "He has a lot of things going on, but it would be wonderful to see him do it."

Aykroyd says he believes the movie will move forward but that he has also learned that "at any second everything could blow up." The details of story are still in play, but Aykroyd said he's hoping for a five-member "new generation" team with several female members. "I'd like it to be a passing-of-the-torch movie. Let's revisit the old characters briefly and happily and have them there as family but let's pass it on to a new generation."

Who does Aykroyd think would be good in the jumpsuits? Aykroyd mentioned two names, Alyssa Milano (who is a voice in the upcoming "Ghostbusters" video game) and Eliza Dushku. "I think they're amazing," he said. "And I'm excited about the whole idea of getting this done."

sexy hott ghostbusters?  i like =)

-------

and recent movie updates from me =P

Wolverine - entertaining, but disappointed.  There's a lot of changes i didn't like. But!  at least i get to see the Deadpool i know and love get a spinoff.

Star Trek - the only thing that let me down, was the storyline was too simplistic for a star trek plot. But! I understand its a big movie trying to appeal to the masses, and it done its job.  Other than that, it was awesome.

John Stamos Is Developing Full House Movie

Quote
John Stamos, who played Uncle Jesse on the 1980’s-1990’s television sitcom Full House, says he’s developing a possible concept for a big screen Full House movie. Stamos told the New York Daily News that he’s “working on a movie idea, but it wouldn’t be us playing us.”

Just got back from watching The Hangover and I have to say that was a pretty hilarious movie. The most interesting thing about it is that you follow it from a completely limited third person view and you only find out about things when the characters find out about things. The movie is completely dedicated to the day after instead of how awesome their night was (partly because they don't remember it). So if you haven't seen any trailers, they are plenty of WTF moments and you can understand what these guys are going through (minus the feeling of having to vomit every other minute lol). Yeah the humour is pretty crude but that's my style so just a heads up.

EDIT: Also, if you haven't already, go see Up. That movie is so amazing. It's quite the emotional roller coaster ride though (then again I haven't seen to many dramas so what do I know) but overall it's a funny movie that's not just for the kids. Then again, Pixar seems to be preferring that style.

I watched Forbidden Siren yesterday and was possitively surprised. I was expecting just another medicore japanese slasher movie - but it was really good, esp. the end. And there was Abe Hiroshi in a small role.

I saw UP over the weekend.  It was ok but I thought it could have used a bit more work.  Some parts were slow, some moved too fast.  The highlight for me was the animated short at the beginning.

The Covenant 6/10
hot guys. nice backstory. very little depth.

Saw (the first one :P ) 8/10
Interesting, to say the least. And a big success considering the few actors, few areas, filming time.

Star Trek 10/10
Looked like they had everything at their disposal, and used it well to make a classic that fits both new guys and fans.
More importantly, they should darn go and make the sequel starting now. hell, make 10 more. we want.

Kamisama no Puzzle 7/10
Has the same problem as most japanese movies, the pacing always seems slow from all the drama.
It is kinda weird with the theories thrown at you, beginning of universe debates and a moody genius. But you'd expect that with Tanimura Mitsuki in it.

Zodiac 8/10
Sure was a long movie. But still very entertaining.
Made me remember I wanted to be a criminologist when I was in primary school, thinking it was cool to get in the head of criminals. I figured out pretty quick that I'm totally not cut out for such a job cos I'm an idiot. :P

Warner Bros' Live-Action Akira Movie is Dead as a Doornail!

Good news or bad? That's up to you. It was only a year ago when it was officially announced that Warner Brothers and Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way were developing a live-action version of the anime Akira with first-time Irish director Ruairi Robinson. So now its been 15 months and we haven't heard much - but that's because its been struggling internally at the studio. Bloody Disgusting now confirms via "two separate sources" that the project is "dead as a doornail." Robinson is apparently also off of the project. When it was announced last year, the plan was to actually have shot and ready to debut in theaters this summer.

The studio fought for the rights in a bidding war in early 2008, as they had let go of them a few years earlier. The project was being spearheaded by Warner Bros. exec Greg Silverman, who previously brought 300 and Batman Begins to the studio. It was described as "Blade Runner meets City of God" which was more than enough to make me excited. Fans were in an uproar, however, because they were going to move the setting from Tokyo to what was being called "New Manhattan," a new metropolis that was rebuilt after being destroyed 31 years ago. I even heard that Zack Snyder was approached to direct (after 300) but declined.

Even being a fan of the original anime (which just got an awesome Blu-Ray re-release back in February), I was still looking forward to seeing this. Sure it would be a huge departure from that anime, but word is they were going to go all the way back to Katsuhiro Otomo's graphic novel anyway. Just imagining the kind of visuals and the incredible world that Otomo brought us back in 1988 converted to live-action would be amazing to see. I'd still love to see this get made one day, but it better be done right. If that means we have to wait another 10 years to see it done right, just like with Watchmen, then I'm fine waiting until then.
