She looks a bit worn out...I'm not sure how much is due to the photo quality, but no doubt it's been a very stressful month for her. At least she seems in good spirits based on her smiling face and what's written in the blog entry.

Her own blog is back online, but only the most recent entry (9/7) is accessible. Still silence on her end.

The talk over at H!O is that the AV contract isn't official and is still just an offer on the table. And I'm still conflicted about whether or not she should take it...it's A LOT of money (1.3 million US dollars) and it could really help her out with some of her current problems, but the potential stuff she could be forced to do for it could lead to her hating herself even more later on. No matter what she decides to do with the offer, I think I'd still support her.

Watching the old Utaban moments, it's crazy to see how much she's changed since then. But I've already come to terms with such changes.

Great to see Ai's smile, and to see her in public. Truly hope she doesn't do AV, but that is her choice. Hope she has trusted friends with whom she can discuss any decisions, and hope they stick with her no matter what her decision.

Man has anyone seen the anime movie Perfect Blue?? It was a bit hard to watch for an idol fan, made me think of Aibon in particular since she's been going through difficult times...

Seeing Maki Goto and Nozomi Tsuji on stage with Dream Morning Musume made for a nostalgic get together. I am not wishing that Ai Kago and Nozomi get back together, because I think they each have grown as individuals and no need to try and hang on to the past, but they truly do have great voices and sounded nice together:

^ I personally would like to see a Tsuji/Kago reunion, but it doesn't have to happen anytime soon, just sometime in the future. They have their own separate identities to cultivate still.

Story is so far only in the Japanese press, and I have not been able to see any translated version, but I think the agency that Ai is trying to break free from is going to sue her for a lot of money. Again, I do not have any reliable translatio yet.

The agency is accusing her of still living with Ando--which contradicts the impression I've gotten that she's been staying with her fashion blogger friend Naomi--and that starting up her own blog again constitutes a resuming of activity, so now they're claiming a breach of contract and suing for 150 million yen (just short of 2 million US dollars) over cancelled bookings.

To be fair, it was unprofessional and of poor general judgment for her to ditch jobs at the last minute to spend time with someone with a known questionable reputation...sometimes I wonder if even I've been a victim of this--dig back far enough into this thread to see what I mean. On the other hand, if you consider that most of her bookings were supposedly pachinko parlor appearances (which are considered hitting rock bottom for celebrities) and the huge pressure for her to enter the AV market, it's no surprise that she would become so disillusioned by the company that she thought would help her get back into the entertainment world's good graces. Also, R&A Promotions (the parent company of Mainstream) has had a history of dicking around money-wise with some of its talents, notably Thane Camus and Bobby Ologun.

It's really disheartening to see Aibon get stuck between two abusive relationships like this, even moreso with her desire to stay in the spotlight leaving her open to be taken advantage of so easily.

Retirement into normal life really is the only reasonable option left, but of course we all know that's probably not gonna happen.

She has really dug herself into a hole and her past is really a good indication of her bad judgements. However, Jtri might have the solution in retiring to normal life but in that sort of way, she will be itching to come back. Still, the best suggestion is to take what is given to you for now to gain leverage and then fight back when you have the sizable advantage. The hope is she understands that a fallen star dives quickly and slowly inches up up until it is visible again

For the child's sake, I hope the pregnancy took place well after the pill popping she did during her suicide attempt.
And I can't help seeing some parallels with her own mother. Her mom ended up raising her alone for a while after splitting from her biological father, who was later arrested for drug possession. And now she might have to raise this kid alone too if Mr. Yakuza-wannabe gets sent away for his little extortion incident. (that's assuming she didn't get knocked up by yet another guy she found in the past 2 months)

Absolutely agreed. I hope that somehow all works out well and they actually become a happy family and great parents for the child...
