I FINALLY recieved my copy yesterday afternoon and immediantly ran home to check out the DVD. After DLing the (audio) album and completely falling in love with it, I was so psyched for the DVD and anticipating something incredible. But. In the end I was so disappointed. :ONcool2:
Ayaya looked adorable as always and her vocals were, as usual, terrific. Watching her strong stage presense was a joy- it was really cool to see her do things 'her' way.. it was so obvious how happy singing with a live band makes her! I sat through the DVD from start to finish with a group of friends (none of which had any idea who she was) and by the end everyone seemed to agree she's super talented. However, despite not knowing who she was, they also agreed that a few of the faster songs sounded.. 'off' somehow. And that's really my only complaint.. the rearrangements for Meccha Holiday, Momoiro, Dokidoki, Tropical & co.. they all just seemed to slur together a bit. I guess it didn't help they were all kinda slumped together toward the middle. Before the acoustic rearrangements, they only vaguely sound alike.. but stripped down, it just seemed more of the same thing. I was originally really hoping to hear some of her more recent tracks (at least on the DVD.. I never really took a good look at the DVD tracklist until then) or some of her more different hits.
In the end I absolutely loved the album. I also still enjoyed the DVD.. but not quite as much as I was anticipating. Of course I'm sure the DVD's tracklist is someone else's 'dream' set.. just not mine. lol
