I'm sure people are curious about Reina and Aichan from the 4koma I've established, so I decided to write a short-story based on it xD. It's going to be a Two-shot (or a three-shot, it depends xD).

Well shit.
I’ve embarrassed myself twice in front of her! Actually, truth be told, I think I embarrassed myself a million times in front of her! But the top two in my embarrassing moments would have to be when I went all wota on her in a suit and when I had a nosebleed from seeing her in OL uniform…
I can’t help it okay!? She’s too damn hot! I can’t help it if UFA decides that the next cosplay fetish will send me to my death!
She doesn’t look like she knows about my crush though. She’s pretty oblivious to these things, I think. I mean, she still acts the same when she’s around me…
Ai Takahashi.
The love of my life.
But also making me speed towards my death. What the fuck.
Psh, I seriously don’t know what made me fall in love with her in the first place. Is it her two-sided personality? The way she can carry herself onstage is absolutely amazing and breathtaking, but offstage, she can be the most immature brat (not in the annoying way, but in a cute, innocent way) ever. Her personality itself is pretty amusing, I don’t know why she doesn’t act like it on camera. I have a feeling that the people out there find her super boring or something when she’s actually not.
She’s also a little weird too… Like sometimes, when I talk about how someone did something, she would immediately connect with some historical figure or something, what the hell!? Who thinks of those things!? She’s got a really odd mindset, in my opinion. It’s amazing Gaki-san can actually be this girl’s best friend at the beginning!
But that’s another thing, really.
Aichan is alone.
Every time I wander around or when I’m talking to someone, I look around and find her in the corner, reading her book. I always wonder if she really does feel left out of the group or if she simply doesn’t want to talk. I don’t know why, but my heart is leaning towards the latter. I remember talking to Gaki-san and hearing her complain that Aichan never talks to her that much anymore. Is she trying not to involve herself?
I think that curiosity was what made me fall in love with her. I kept watching her on the camera for our PV shoots and concerts when my shooting’s over. I kept glancing at her during rehearsals… And now it’s so bad to the point that I’d even fucking nosebleed for her!? What the hell, man… What the hell…
Here I am, standing in front of a running sink in the bathroom. We have a ten minute break from dancing rehearsal and everyone’s off and about, so I decided to head for the bathroom to clear my mind for a bit. It’s not working very well though, ‘cause even if I cleaned my face with cold water, I’m still constantly thinking of her like that.
I mean, sure we’re all not allowed to date guys for the sake of maintaining our ‘pure’ image, but I’m not so sure about dating members within our group. I mean, UFA was pretty edgy when tabloids popped up about Yoshizawa-san and Ishikawa-san and the question of whether or not they were dating. So their managers, on orders from UFA, told them to not confirm it if prompted about it. In fact, for every question similar to “what Morning Musume member would you not date?” Yoshizawa-san’s manager would always make her answer “Ishikawa-san” to steer them away from the rumors!
Mind you, I’m pissed that our company is controlling our love lives, but this is what we signed up for when we auditioned, and our contracts have to be renewed every four or five years so it’s partially our faults too for joining such a strict organization. When I first joined, I frankly didn’t care at first, but then well… You start to get lonely and uh… Okay, I admit that I went in and out of the rules a few times when I dated some guys at school, but after seeing what happened to Yaguchi-san, I broke up with mine immediately. There’s no way in hell I’m losing a good job to a boy!
But now I’m having second thoughts…
With Aichan…
“Reina?”
I jump at the noise. I’ve been so caught up in my thoughts that I didn’t notice the door open!
“T-Takahashi!” I squeal in surprise. When the hell did she pop in!? And why at such a bad time!?
“Rehearsals are going to continue,” Aichan says solemnly, “and don’t call me that,” she continues with a disapproving tone.
Fuck, I didn’t realize I called her by her family name! I’m such an idiot… Aichan doesn’t like being called by her family name, all the members (at least, the ones she’s been with for a long ass time…) know that, and I completely disregarded that fact in my surprise.
I was going to apologize to her, but she leaves before I could open my mouth. With a defeated sigh, I turn the sink off and follow after her.
Sure enough, I find her still walking down the hall. Since the bathroom was the closest thing to the dance room, I assume that I was the only one she’s had to call. She probably already retrieved the other members. I catch up to her and slip my hand into her own. She doesn’t look at me, but she acknowledges my presence with a light squeeze.
“Sorry about earlier, I was in deep thought and you calling my name surprised me,” I say as I slow down to match Aichan’s walking speed. It was the total truth, but there’s no way in hell that I’m going to tell her what I was thinking about, she’d never look at me the same way if I tell her about my crush on her now! She doesn’t say anything in return, so I keep talking to keep a conversation. “So uh, are you free after the rehearsal? We can take the train to downtown and shop there?”
Aichan’s face hardened. That means she’s thinking about it. I anxiously await her answer as we continued walking down the hall hand in hand.
“I suppose so,” she turns and smiles at me. Just there, I want to just open my stomach and let all the butterflies out! How can this woman be so damn cute too!?
“Then it’s final!” I grin back at her. I’m so happy we can shop together! It’s probably there that I can finally impose some of my fashion sense on her, haha. Ai always tends to wear old fashioned classy stuff, so there are times where Eririn and I force her to shop with us so she’d get a taste of the more trendy stuff. It’s amusing watching her struggle with us some times ‘cause she isn’t really in-tuned with the trendy world (she gave up trying to keep up when the rokkies joined since she was always wearing what was in style the year before).
We make it back to rehearsal and we all chat our heads off until our instructor, Mayumi-sensei (I’m surprised she still choreographs us at that age! She’s been working with Morning Musume since it began!) tells us to start practicing Resonant Blue again.
As soon as the music starts, I get into performer mode. No yankii, no ‘normal’ Reina. It’s all Tanaka Reina the idol.
Step right and turn my back to Koharu’s.
Sing.
Stop.
Step back and freestyle so that Aichan and Koharu can sing their line.
Arm movement.
Swirls.
Face forward and sing.
This keeps going until we make it to the instrumental. Some of the people didn’t turn correctly during the snake-like single-file-line group swerve. Mayumi-sensei stops the tape and then asks the ones who didn’t screw up (I was glad to be one of those!) to direct the others better. As it turns out, the ones who did screw up are none other than our very own Junjun, Aika, and Koharu. I tell them to not be embarrassed with doing rather suggestive dance moves since embarrassment tends to cause stiffness in performance. I remember being pretty stiff when doing Shabondama (so what if we were hardcore head-banging instead of doing suggestive moves? Shabondama is harder!) , so I empathize easily with them.
After we help them out a bit, Mayumi-sensei plays the tape again and we get back into dancing.
Amidst the mundane routine, I glance a few times at Aichan again.
There it is again.
That aura.
The way she moves with finesse…
The way her eyes stare intensely into her reflection…
The way she glistens in sweat already even though we’ve just had our break…
This woman is amazing.
Even in a dance rehearsal, she puts her all into it. Every time she performs, it’s like she’s performing her last number before disappearing forever. That’s hard work right there. Her stage presence is so majestic… I don’t think there’s anyone alive (that I know personally) who can imitate that sort of behavior.
I mean, I try hard myself in dances and singing and stuff, but I’m not even half of Aichan’s level. She has a reason for being on top of our songs, and I respect it. We are lucky to have such an amazing performer as our leader…
Soon, the dance comes to an end without trouble, and we hold our ending position until Mayumi-sensei tells us to stop. Then we grab our water bottles (our fake ‘microphones’ if you will) and do the song again with our makeshift mics.
Soon, we end up running through our entire practice with occasional mishaps (Gaki-san almost kicked Sayu’s face in Onna ni Sachi are…) and here we are, packing up and changing in the bathroom before we go off to do our business. Well, “soon” is just my term. I think I was too busy thinking about Ai all the time to notice how slow the time was actually going…
Oh yeah, we have that shopping date!

Did I just say shopping date!?
I shake my head in embarrassment, biting my lip as a security measure so that I wouldn’t say anything stupid. Good thing I was in the bathroom stall where no one could look at me. Even so, I should not say anything stupid ‘cause the other members are in the other stalls, chatting away as they are changing their clothes. The other members just LOVE to exploit weaknesses and make fun of them… And there’s no way in hell I’m going to be teased endlessly about my infatuation for Ai.
Soon, I hear the chattering lessen in volume and eventually, there was no chattering at all. That meant the others have already left, and here I am, still packing my dance clothes into my bag. I couldn’t wait for that little… shopping date… that I have with Aichan, so I hastily stuff everything into my bag. I can’t have her waiting at all! She’s scary when people are late, and since I’m the last one out, I’m probably DEFINITELY late! I get out of the stall and sure enough, there’s no one out there. I do a quick mirror check so that I didn’t look like I woke up after having been roomed with a trigger-happy marker-wielding Koharu, and bolt out the door to find Aichan.
I did find her.
… Right beyond the door…
…And I ran straight into her…
Before I could collide into her, I wind up tripping after seeing her image so suddenly. By some sort of supernatural instinct, she ducks under and catches me by my waist while I grasped her shoulders to stop myself from falling, but when we came around, we realize that we’re… really close…
Her arms were placed on both sides of my hip almost tentatively, but tightly from having to push my weight up to stand. My hands refuse to let go, no matter how much my head screams at them to release her. I can see myself blushing profusely in the reflection of her doe-like eyes.
The worst thing is that it’s not only me who’s having trouble with releasing her…
She’s not showing signs of releasing me either!
What the fuck am I supposed to do now!?
