I understand what you're saying. I prefer - accurate or not - to see the song as a simply acknowledgement of reality. Japan's materialistic culture may drive some girls to get extra money is odd ways, and I think the song is just acknowledging that. If anything, I see it as a critical commentary on that situation, not an endorsement of it. Or is that just wishful thinking on my part?

 
I actually really like the song though, and seeing the PV is what got me interested in the group. But it always made me feel a little uncomfortable with it's subject matter. I don't see it as an endorsement but I also don't see it showing anything negative about the situation. More like the girls are saying "This is how it is, and this is how we want it" and I feel that there's something wrong with that. What I see this song is endorsing is that sentiment. It's cool expressing your sexual side and all, but to have adolescent girls going who knows where with strange adult men so they can have their way with them is wrong, and that's what this PV is showing. It's clearly aimed at the perves.

I'm more to it as an acknowledgement of the reality. Even Keibetsu is about school bullying. I find the concept very similar. To give acknowledgement on problems. I'm not sure I'd want to listen to something that goes "prostitution is wrong". It'll sound pretty weird. I found Seifuku disturbing when I first saw it, but it's clearly one of their best (if not the best) PVs to date.

Actually, when I actually started to bother, it took me slightly a week or two to recognize both Teams A and K (faces and names. I still can't really tell some of their voices apart, but there's too many and some of them really don't have voices that stand out. At least not to me). After seeing the possible Team B members, I could at least recognize a couple, but that's it. I really wouldn't worry about Team B yet though.

MM really isn't all that hard afterall. With so much available media and chances for them to portray their individual personalities (which AKB48 doesn't really get as much, and they have much more members, some of which are mostly left out).

I don't really see it as acknowledging it as a problem but more that that's the way it is. The song itself isn't too bad really, but the age of the girls and the situations. They could've used more tasteful things for it, I think. I have to agree that it is their best PV, though.


Anyways about remembering their names...

When it comes to AKB48, it's kinda useless to try and remember every single name, especially if you don't really care for some of them. Just remember the names of the people you're interested in, and the more you're exposed to everyone, you'll eventually just pick them up. That's how it worked for me in H!P. Of course like it was said earlier it'll probably take more time because they don't have as much exposure.

Was just curious as to who AKB48 were. Only watched the Seifuku PV and it was alright. I like the beat though.

I did the Yahoo! Japan quizzes (basic and advanced) on AKB48, and I am proud to announce perfect scores!
Go try them out if possible. Some questions are quite tough (and some I could only make intelligent guesses).

The Kissa Versailles (the Yahoo! drama that Orii is starring in and Team K play minor roles in) episodes I'll post here soon (some of the quiz questions require that you watch them) for those without a Japanese id (thus being unable to view the videos). They have DRM on them though, so you'll have to download the DRM thingy when you first view it.

Haha, that's hilarious. Everytime I see Atsuko, she proves herself to be even more of an airhead than I thought How the hell did she get the food on her face whilst eating? LOL. She's so awkward on TV, it's great.
