From all the translations and summaries floating around, she sticks by to her statement that nothing happened. The reason he was over was work related and he fell asleep. Funny thing is, apparently Umechan lives/stays at the same place and is getting no heat whatsoever. She feels guilty about the whole thing too :l

As for the whole stepping down thing, the only thing I can come up with is the Japanese culture aspect. Bring shame to the family? Well commit seppuku.....I think I've been reading too many mangas/watching too many anime, but the analogy is still there. Sayaka's always striked me as as serious, passionate person (re: a taller, more athletic version of Takamina). With this scandal, she probably doesn't feel worthy of having the captain title (even though the position isn't really much on scene, it probably holds more weight behind the scenes).

I'm curious if management is gonna keep the spot empty or put someone else in it O:

Damn... poor Sayaka... D:
Perhaps this work related- maybe she's stepping down so she can work on other things?? That being the reason he was there, they were discussing a job she could do- that would take up quite alot of time...?

Most likely Sae will take her spot, or possibly Yuko?? (though Yuko may be too busy with being the most popular voted member lately, and promoting AKB48...)

AHH- Please ignore my theory about her having a project now- I've lurked around Stage48 and realise now what's going on a bit better! :lol:;;

I found this quoted while lurking, Sayaka's Resignation:
“I am responsible for the earlier report about the rumor with Hiroi Ouji-san. He is the stage director who I respect, I have asked Hiroi-san for help on stage performance of “Izumi Kyouka” since this summer. I’ve been to his house, and he has been to my house. I did not think anything of it, because Hiroi-san lives with his daughter, and I live with Umeda Ayaka. Moreover, since Hiroi-san is older than my father, I have never thought of him as a male. The day, we promised to have dinner together for discussions about acting, but my work finished too late, therefore he came over to my house. We kept talking about acting, but he fell asleep after a while, so I and Ume-chan decided to let him keep sleeping. I am woeful that it sounds like I’m making excuses. I’m sorry for all the fans who support me, and also for AKB members… I’m sorry. This became such a big issue, and it is all my fault. I should be the role model for other members, but I’m not qualified as a captain anymore. Therefore, I will resign as the captain of team K.”
Found here translated on tokyo-hive from what she said on AKB no All Night Nippon! :O

Yuko handling both front-running (or whatever you call it) for Team K and leading at the same time sounds like a crazy workload, which is probably why they normally choose the "solid" girl for leader and never the fan-fave/poster girl to balance the work.
Sae is a natural choice. But she's so carefree. I'd hate to see her be uneasy from the responsibilities.

That's why Umeda filling in the spot for now sounds like such a great idea. She'd be awesome~ :D
One question. Ever since Umeda had that leg injury a few years back, is it still a problem to her during performances? Or has she totally recovered from it?

^From what I've seen I think she made a full recovery.

Not sure about the whole captain thing. The girls probably will support Sayaka and may have a 'let's keep the position open' attitude, but if the management does not name a new captain then that could mean that the title is pretty meaningless...

In other news, I found some interesting age stats on the roda:

As for Sayaka's "scandal", I've made a summary of ANN and there are translations of the AKB girls (team k new and old, really) support comments for her in my blog.

I watched the repeat of J-Melo's show last night.

I don't know if it was posted here but checked two pages back and none yet.
(if ever someone posted this already, tell me. Since I don't really know where to post this...)

Quote
J-Melo (2010.11.8 )

In last nights J-Melo show, Nikkei Entertainment! Editor-in-Chief, Hirozumi Yoshioka commented about today’s teenage pop groups. He mentioned that AKB48 is one of the famous pop groups in Japanese pop music. He also mentioned SKE48 as AKB48’s little sister. He then said that these sister groups have probable rivals and these are Hello! Project’s S/Mileage, and Stardust Promotion’s Momoiro Clover.

According to Yoshioka, these teenage pop groups (not only the said groups above), would need to produce big hit songs or singles for them or generally, Japanese pop, to not die. He commented more about AKB. He said that AKB48 is currently on top of all the Pop groups this year with their high selling single, “Beginner”.

*They showed short portions of each groups’ singles in this order, SKE48, S/Mileage, Momoiro Clover then AKB48 (with Beginner).

Watarirouka Hashiritai’s newest single, “Gyu” was also showed in yesterday’s J-Melo with a little comment from the members about the single.

Some of the words are not really what he said since I didn't get to take note of all of it but this is what I remember from what I watched, 10mins ago. Hope I don't mess up...

Well, he didn't really specify which albums will be released. He just said the "old ones".

In case they don't release the H's.

"Kamikyoku Tachi [CD+DVD]" ranked #98 in CDJapan's top 100 sold items in 2010.

This seems.... low? None of the akb singles are listed either  :huhuh

Twissie posted this in the postwhoring thread:
Hahaha, anyone else picked up on the fact that "AKB48" made it onto the list of "Words of 2010" in Japan? It's a yearly thing where they award new words, or expressions that have become trendy/surfaced/defined the last year~

The list looks like this:

1. ゲゲゲの〜 gegege no

2. いい質問ですねえ! ii shitsumon desu nee (That's a good question!)

3. イクメン ikumen (Men on daddy leave)

4. AKB48

5. 女子会 joshikai (Girl gatherings)

6. 脱小沢 datsu Ozawa (Away from Ozawa)

7. 食べるラー油 taberu raa-yu (chewable chilli oil)

8. ととのいました totonoimashita - (It fits!)

9.  〜なう。-nau. (now)

10. 無縁社会 muen-shakai (Relation-less society)
