Sixty-year-old Hong Kong kung fu star Sammo Hung reveals that he was knocked out while shooting a fight scene for "Ip Man 2," M1905.com reports.
Hung, the action choreographer for the martial arts film, won the 2008 Hong Kong film award for his excellent work on "IP Man." In addition, Hung plays a veteran kung fu master in the sequel.
Hung says that in the film, he has two tremendous fight scenes, one with Donnie Yen and the other with a boxing king from Britain. While shooting the scene with the British boxer, he was knocked out.
"It was a tough scene for me, as I had to act and direct at the same time. And the British boxer was a bit nervous about hitting me. The shoot was repeated a few times until he really hit me with full force and I was knocked out," said Hung.
Although in his 60s, he was able to recover quickly due to his excellent physical condition from years of martial arts training. His nose, mouth and chin were bleeding, but he refused to go to the hospital.
"Because it was the last scene of the film, I didn't want hundreds of staff there to wait for me while I was in the hospital. I just called my doctor and made an appointment. I went to the hospital five hours later and got four stitches in my face," said Hung.
