Title: E3 2012
Post by: Tuffty on July 11, 2007, 09:17:37 PM
Well the first day has come and gone, and there's been one hell of a lot of new information to take in! Tell us about what games have impressed you most:

http://www.e3expo.com/ (http://www.e3expo.com/)

For me, the stand out games based on what we've seen so far are:

Assassin's Creed (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21513.html) - Beautiful. Oh sorry, I was talking about Jade Raymond :) The game looks amazing too.

Resident Evil 5 (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21466.html) - Yes. Yes please.

Guitar Hero III (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21501.html) - Slash as a boss character! And playable Welcome To The Jungle!

Project Gotham Racing 4 (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21477.html) - M0t3rb1!<3s!!!!

The Bourne Conspiracy (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21533.html) - Really surprised me to see how good this looks. Looks like it might be finally a great movie to game translation.

Metal Gear Solid 4 (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21582.html) - :o :o :o

I wanna go to E3!!!

Guitar hero 3 looks nice.

Mario and Sonic Olympic games?! two of my top favorite game characters.

Super smash bros brawl.

I'm looking forward to the slew of Wii games (partially because that's the only new gen console that I have)...

Wii Fit sounds like it will be really fun. And the ballance board sounds interesting... I'm not sure it will be anything I play around other people though...   XD

And they FINALLY gave us a date on Super Smash Bros. Brawl, yay!

The only game I'm really looking forward to is RE5. I haven't kept up with games at all the past few months, but I still like the RE games. I liked 4 a lot, but I hope 5 isn't so much action.

Assassin's Creed looks cool too. I'm glad it's coming out for 360, since that's all I have.

MGS4 looks cool, but I don't have a PS3. Plus, I kinda get into the MGS games but I start to lose interest fast. Though that happens with A LOT of games I play, I still haven't gone back to MGS3 since it came out.

Call of Duty 4. Maybe. I'm not a huge fan of FPS, but I have fun from time to time.

Army of Two - I'm gonna keep my eye on this one.

Heavenly sword looks pretty coo. Call of Duty 4 looks tight as hell, about time they did some modern warfare rather then WWII. MGS titles never disappoint so im really lookin foward to MGS4. :)

MGS4!!! Halo3! RE5! Super smash bros. brawl! Guitar Hero III!! Ratchet & Clank Future!! Can't wait to see new FFXIII trailers!

Those are probably some of my favorite franchises and their next releases are looking so bad ass.

Plus there's also the new kill zone, call of duty, and assassin's creed, etc. They seem to really stepping it up. It looks like the next-gen systems are finally showing what they can do!

I wish I had the money to get back into gaming :/ I can't even afford to get any next-gen systems right now... when I do I'll probably be getting a ps3 especially since they're cutting down the price!!!

Just saw the echochrome trailer, now that's the psp's killer app! I must have it!

I enjoyed the trailers for Killzone 2 and Resident Evil 5. At least Sony got it right for Killzone 2 byshowing the actual gameplay footage. Resident Evil 5 looks similiar to Resident Evil 4. Looking foward to Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIII.

Post by: Tuffty on July 12, 2007, 02:49:30 PM
I completely forgot about FFXIII!!! I take it a new trailer is intended to be shown? Some other highlights:

Silent Hill V (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21611.html) - Interesting thing about this is that it isn't being developed by Team Silent. So just what is the supposed project they are working on?

Heavenly Sword (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21650.html) - I wasn't actually that impressed when I saw it last year, but now it looks pretty good. The facial motion capture rocks.

Lost Odyssey (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21475.html) - Looks like a modern day JRPG with next-gen graphics, but who said that was a bad thing?

I don't have any next-gen consoles but if I do, I'll be pretty broke :o

ToT I wish i could go to E3!!! The games are looking better and more fun. I didn't know about the Super Smash Brawl release date...so I'm pretty psyched about that! Plus i heard they announced mario kart wii but i dunno when thats coming up XD. Halo 3 looks exciting to play...sadly i have no xbox360 when it comes out haha.

Just saw a clip of the game Rock Band, and I'm pretty excited about it, I love the concept and was hoping a game like it would be released since I played the first guitar hero.

Echochrome looks sweet! All the different puzzles you can get  :dizzy: That and FF Tactics look like the only good PSP games for this year so far XD

EDIT

Oh and I forgot about GOW : Chains Of Olympus

so Echochrome is something like Lemmings but you have to rotate the puzzles around to guide the mini-person through the maze. lol... good concept and looks fun + hard to play

No price cut or 80GB model for Euro PS3 console (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/6896261.stm)

Quote from: BBC News
Sony is not cutting the price of the PlayStation 3 in Europe, but will offer free games and accessories instead. There is also no word of plans for an 80GB version of the console in Europe.

Last week Sony said it would drop the US price of the 60GB PS3 by $100 (£50), and introduced a new 80GB version at the original price of $599 (£300). In Europe gamers will get a "starter pack" at an unchanged price of £425 for the 60GB machine, with two games and two controllers included. The new pack was announced at the E3 games conference in Santa Monica, in California. Sony says it is offering gamers £115 worth of added games and controller, for no extra charge. But the firm could face criticism from gamers for deciding not to reduce the price of the 60GB PS3 and not announcing the 80GB machine.

Earlier this week, Jack Tretton, chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment America, said he thought the US price cut would at least "double" the sales of PS3 in the country. But in an interview with games website Gamesindustry.biz, David Reeves, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, revealed that once the stock of 60GB machines was sold out in the US - probably by the end of July - the model would no longer be sold. That would mean that US gamers would once again have to pay $599 for a full-spec console with features such as wi-fi, not available on the cheaper 20GB model.

In the UK, the PlayStation 3 remains £125 more expensive than the equivalent Xbox 360 bundle of console and games and £225 more expensive than the Nintendo Wii with two games.

Honestly, did Europe beat Sony when it was younger or something? Or slept with Sony's wife?
Title: Re: E3 2007
Post by: StreakInTheSky on July 13, 2007, 06:47:37 PM
lol man SCEE sucks big time. Atleast you get free shit that you probably were going to buy anyways :/

I think discontinuing the 60gb machine and replacing it with the 80gb for the same $599 is fucking retarded and is just making the same mistake twice. Not many people wanted to spend that money on the 60gb and they're not going to do it for another 20gb and a copy of motorstorm... Let's hope David Reeves has no idea wtf he's talking about -___-

I find it amusing that Microsoft can negotiate with Disney to offer movies through X-Box Live before Sony can do the same with their own internal film division.

^ Certainly is, but I don't like the fanboy drooling over her which is making her more of a talking point then the game itself. People go on about how gamers have moved on from the tired stereotype, but by reading the comments in any Jade Raymond video, you'd think otherwise. If we want more pretty women in the world of gaming, we have to restrain ourselves from picking up the lotion as soon as one enters, guys!!

well for someone that hot to be in the industry is something special, but I've seen hotter gamers :P

plus a gamer girl isn't that hot until she kicks your ass in them

but the way some of them pout if you kick their ass can be pretty cute
Title: Re: E3 2009
Post by: Tuffty on May 15, 2009, 09:16:08 PM
So this year's E3 is merely weeks away, and while it's probably not at the same level as it was in the past, there's still a few things to get excited over. What announcements will the big 3 announce? Could Microsoft be getting a new peripheral? Kojima Productions are announcing a new title soon, could it be MGS4 for the 360? A whole new IP? Or another shitty iPhone game nobody cares about?

And some big games to be revealed. Mass Effect 2 is my most anticipated. (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/49314.html) But then there's Assassin's Creed 2, Uncharted 2, hopefully some Final Fantasy footage, and maybe even a few hidden gems can be revealed.

Most important of all? The Booth Babes are making a comeback (http://www.fragland.net/news/E3-2009-with-booth-babes/20511/) XD

I'm excited! I always love seeing all the stuff coming out after E3.

What I'm most looking forward to seeing (might be a little wishful thinking)

- Perfect Dark 2 (A true sequel not that PDZ bull)
- God of War 3 stuff
- Mass Effect 2 with even more awesome dialogue, combat, and leveling up. Less vehicles plz
- Next Metal Gear set in WW2. You play as the boss and her unit during the Normandy invasion. Call it Metal Gear Joy (they must make this game dammit!)
- Alan Wake stuff
- Mafia 2 stuff (been a looooong time coming)
- Red Dead Redemption stuff(looks f'in awesome! GTA in the wild west) (http://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption/)
- Uncharted 2 even though I only played the demo of the first, but it was beautiful and I probably played it about 20 times
Edit: Almost forgot Half Life 2 Episode 3 :O *prays*

How is everyone watching this year (anyone lucky enough to be going?)? I'll do my usual G4TV (provided they don't cut to a commercial at a pivotal point again) and Gamespot.

What I'm hoping will happen but probably won't:
- the real KOTOR 3 (not that random MMORPG)
- Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy 2 (or 3, it's been a while)
- Kingdom Hearts 3
- New Matrix game that doesn't suck

Otherwise I'm looking forward to Mass Effect 2, Assassin's 2, that Splinter Cell game that is taking forever, and a new Need for Speed game that (hopefully) goes back to it's roots.

Seems as if the party's begun! Keeping my eyes open now for some good stuff, and I haven't been dissapointed with this trailer for Mass Effect 2 (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-mass-effect/49799)

Or Lost Planet 2 (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-lost-planet/49814).

And Brink, a new title from Bethesda (Oblivion, Fallout 3) (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-brink/49785) Could it be another RPG but in the distant future? FPS?

Well shit, Microsoft just had their press conference and there's a lot to get excited over:

- Metal Gear Solid - That's right MGS for the 360 :w00t: But no, not MGS4. Instead it's a spin-off where Raiden is the main character. I was secretly hoping for a MGS4 port but at least this news won't have Sony fanboys slitting their wrists. though they may have done so as soon as it was announced

- Left 4 Dead 2 - HELL YES! L4D has quickly become my favourite 360 game so a sequel is welcome with open arms. New survivors, zombies, specials, campaigns on top of the AI director changing weather effects, obstacles and pathways. New melee weapons as well like axes, baseball bats and even frying pans. Out in Nov. Can't wait.

- FFXIII - Supposedly some new gorgeous gameplay of summoning Odin and the options it brings to gameplay was shown, but even better was the news of a Spring 2010 release. Hopefully it means a PAL release too.

- Project Natal - Or the XBox 720 in essence. MS follows in Nintendo's route and adds a camera based, no controller method of playing games that's compatible with every 360. Facial, and voice recognition included. Steven Speilberg is supposedly into it and is helping develop a number of games for it. Would be interesting to see how it looks at least.

Some other good stuff mentioned as well, Crackdown 2, Modern Warfare 2, Alan Wake, Forza 3 and a bunch of other stuff no-one cares about like Facebook and twitter support XD

God, the E3 moment is one of the best of the year for me.

Very good conference for Micr$oft.

The new MGS will surely make me finally buy a 360 (with Deathsmiles, at laaaast)

Post by: winner on June 01, 2009, 10:37:39 PM
Did the MS vice-pres just call Hideo the creator of Metal Guild Solid?
Must've been the project codename. :P

Even though it was inevitable, having full Xbox360 games downloadable is also a nice touch.
Too bad I live in the stone age, and have a fear of using credit cards. Hope they make bigger MP cards.
Title: Re: E3 2009
Post by: zoolander on June 01, 2009, 11:25:02 PM
I caught most of the conference save for the first 20 min or so.

Ughh . . . a ninja Raiden game . . . I'm hoping it's just a joke. Kojima's man crush needs to stop. Probably an action game or something. Why not be awesome and make a game about the hands down most bad ass video game character ever. The Boss.

Personally, I thought Splinter Cell looked AMAZING. I haven't played one since the first (and that didn't really grab me besides the amazing graphics for the time) but I love some of the stuff they are doing with it like the objectives projecting right on the environment and the ability to tag guys to set up kills. Really slick and stylish.

Halo looked like Halo even without Master Chief. Modern Warfare looked intense. I must have missed crackdown . . .

Glad to see Alan Wake again for the first time in what 4 years? Still not out till next year.

Final Fantasy stuff looked the same.

The camera stuff they had looked kinda stupid but holy sheeet Spielberg. :O

Some of the new netflix, last fm, facebook stuff and what not sounds cool. Once I get netflix I'm gonna need to get a gold account again. So I guess I care about it.

E3 is always fun. :twothumbs

I love how they said "no other console can possibly do this" when Sony's just going to bring out Eyetoy 2 and it'll be exactly the same (hell maybe they'll even do it at this years E3, lol) all this 'revolutionary' gameplay just looks like Eyetoy games except made to be full games rather than minigames on the PS2, using some stuff that modern webcams use. Oh yeah.. with voice recognition too, since that's worked soooo well up until now, lol. That Milo kid's probably going to say "I'm sorry, could you say that again?" more than anything else, plus I have a hard time believing anything Moleneux has to say, lol.
I also like how they took stabs at the Wii but just brought out that girl playing a game that looked like the Wii Fit game where you hit the football with your head, lol.

I don't believe in this 'total control' either, it's just like the eyetoy where it will 'trace' where you are, so you can't move your arms forwards and backwards in a 3D plane, you'll just be waving out your arms and legs to either side of you like an eyetoy, M$ is just going to bring out a wiimote at some stage.

MGS is cool and all but doesn't everyone HATE Raiden? lol.
Title: Re: E3 2009
Post by: Mugen on June 02, 2009, 11:45:49 PM
yea i dont think anyone clapped except for the guy that hosts the 360 event after the raiden trailer.

the games i cant wait for are Assassin Creed 2, Uncharted 2, God of War 3, Splinter Cell Conviction, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Final Fantasy 13 Versus (Which is still MIA in E3 09), Modern Warfare 2 and of course Heavy Rain. Alan Wake seemed to be overhyped. The graphics werent as good as they mentioned and the gameplay seems Silent Hill-est.

i dont give a rats ass to the motion controllers from PS3 or Xbox though as well as Project Natal..i prefer my games on a controller.
Title: Re: E3 2009
Post by: Tuffty on June 02, 2009, 11:57:41 PM
^ Yeh I hope it doesn't go overboard. There's some games that should just stick to a good old controller.

Anyway, more highlights from my quick scan through:

TRICO - The next game from Team ICO and it looks incredible.

FFXIV - You read it right. FF14. MMO PS3-exclusive. And it's out next year.

God Of War III -

Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Never played Galaxy, but it looked really good. And this time you get Yoshi! What's not to like?

both of the new mario games for the wii and the metroid game all look like fun.  seeing yoshi in mario galaxy 2 made me really happy for some reason.  haha.  i hope the game has more surprises though.  i'm sure it will since it doesnt come out until 2010.  it's cool that we'll be getting more of samus's backstory.  the gameplay looks pretty sweet too.  new super mario bros for the wii looks fun but i think they overhyped it with their intro for it.  nintendo's new peripheral, the vitality meter?!?!  what?!?!  it monitors your pulse....ok, what does that have to do with gaming?!  haha.

sony did really well this e3.  i was a little disappointed that there was no kingdom hearts 3 announcement, but hey...the new psp and ds versions arent even out and i'm sure the team is busy with ff vs xiii (also unmentioned).  modkart nation looks pretty fun.  ff xiv will be cool if the online is free.  i hope that's the case.  i havent tried xi and i definitely won't try xiv if you have to pay for online.  the last guardian looks really intriguing.  i wonder what the gameplay will be like.

I'm pretty sure it's for RPGs, to measure your stats, and suck blood from your body after every hit. :P
Or maybe the next Yakuza game will use it in their "mini-games".

Oh, it's Nintendo..... next step in Wii Fit maybe? Predicting a Dr Mario comeback!

Holy medusa heads batman! Kratos is in the PSP version of Soul Calibur. :P

My games of the show

1. Mass Effect 2: Looks amazing as expected. Blowing off enemies limbs! Rocket Launchers! :w00t: (and I think I saw Tali's face)
1. Uncharted 2: Good freaking god O_O the graphics!
1. God of War 3: I can already feel it's bloody epic awesomeness as expected.
1. Last Guardian (Trico): Dammit! I know I'm gonna feel attached to The Guardian because I already love him/her/it just from the video.
5. Splinter Cell Conviction/ MG: Peace Walker/ Mario Galaxy map pac / Modern Warfare 2 / GT PSP

Disappointments:

Alan Wake
Heavy Rain
Final Fantasy 14 might be out before 13
Most of the games I want come out next year

Actually!! I just watched the PS3 motion sensor demo and it's actually pretty cool! It more or less is Eyetoy 2 with a couple of wiimotes with motion plus packs, but you can really do a lot of cool things with it!
If it can judge distance better than the motion plus wiimote (it looks like it probably can) then it's probably the best motion controller you can get.

Plus it can probably do all the unaccurate painting and flailing around stuff that the 360 thing can do since it uses a webcam, they can just call it Eyetoy 2. I mean what's M$ going to do? take them to court for stealing the idea they stole from Eyetoy 1 and the Wii? lol.

Castlevania : Lords Of Shadow - It's in 3D, overseen by Hideo Kojima and looking very purty (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-castlevania-lords/50684). Here's hoping the game itself does justice. Great voice casting too, Robert Carlyle, Sir Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart.

And ME2 looks awesome and sounds like a promising sequel (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/e3-mass-effect-2-preview)

*SPOILER*

But the Normandy?! NOOOOO. Hope it's not central to the story that it gets blown up, because it's a sexy ship.

Castlevania : Lords of shadow is just fantastic !

I'm playin' those games since NES and I'm very happy to see -at last- an amazing 3D like this with this awesome atmosphere.

Of course, you can say that it's like God of War but, shit, CASTLEVANIA RULEZ !

E3 last year was such a letdown. And it wasn't just the lack of big announcements, the glitz, the glamour. No, there was one thing sorely missing that thankfully wasn't looked over this year...

Starting next week there's gonna be a slew of game news, new games in development and news from Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo on what to expect from them over the upcoming year. Microsoft will naturally be focused on Natal, Sony on their own motion sensor but what about Nintendo? 3DS? Maybe, just maybe......a console bound Zelda?

So with that in mind this is the topic where you can discuss what you've seen at E3 and which ones excite you.

Starting off pretty well already. A new Marvel vs Capcom 3 teaser.
Would've been better if they had more than 5 seconds of the clip though.

^ Apparently they renamed it to 'Wave' (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/natal-to-be-renamed-wave-says-report)

To me though, it'll always be Natal.

I think it's quite dumb to change a name that has been ingrained in those who know about it...

Guess it doesn't matter though - companies always do it.

Man I love  E3 time of year, even if it never is as epic as I think it's gonna be. I kinda get excited like a kid at Christmas. Especially with the big press conferences. Most years I go away underwhelmed but it looks like this year could be really great with lots of announcements.

Already a lot of leaks beforehand.

Project Natal is now.....

Kinect!
(http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/2571/b3u7hdb.jpg) (http://img193.imageshack.us/i/b3u7hdb.jpg/)
Quote
•Kinectimals lets you train and play with 20 different virtual cats, including a lion, cheetah and tiger.

•Joyride, a racing game, lets players use their hands to hold an imaginary steering wheel — pull your hands toward you and push back out for an acceleration boost — and their bodies to execute jumps and tricks.

•Kinect Sports has six activities including boxing, bowling, beach volleyball, track and field, soccer and table tennis. To serve a volleyball, you mimic the real motion; in soccer, you can kick the ball or do a header.

•Kinect Adventures includes a river-raft time trial and obstacle course, playable by up to four players. On the raft, playing as a duo, you and a partner must lean one way or another to steer. Jumping helps the raft reach special areas for extra points.

•Dance Central, in development by MTV Games, brings a So You Think You Can Dance experience home.

•Star Wars characters and iconic Disney favorites will be featured in separate new games being developed at Microsoft in conjunction with LucasArts and Disney.
I'm not really interested as of yet, however...

Now that I might be interested in. 250 gig, wifi intigrated, kinda ugly ect.

But what I really want to see is all the new games info/announcements for all the systems. :twothumbs

What a horrible name XD Saw some of the games on display and well, I guess I still have my doubts. Looks fun and all, but I can expect the novelty to wear off pretty quickly with me. I'll have to wait on people who've actually played it and experienced it to know what it's like. Fanboys are crying out why MS have ditched the hardcore audience but I don't think that's the case. Seems to me that MS will always release the hardcore games with controller input (just see GOW3, MGS:Rising, Halo:Reach, COD and this new exclusive from Crytek as proof), but the Natal stuff is targeted more at the casual audience. I realise there will probably be games released for this that will appeal to the hardcore audience as well like the Star Wars tech demo, but I'm not willing to buy it for a supposed $149.

Too late in the day to post updates but at the time of writing, I've seen some pretty good footage of the games I've listed above. Something about the COD footage that left me unimpressed though. I'm sure it's probably a good game if I should get my hands on it but I wasn't really enjoying watching it.

Look at me all pessimistic XD On the plus side, MGS:Rising looks cool, and I'm intrigued by this Crytek exclusive. I'm excited to find out more about other games during the conference though. Will have to keep an eye out on the many many videos and articles over the upcoming week.

... Kinect? Derpaderp. Dorky name alert! Haha, also obligatory; "Hey look! We're the Wii, except... shinier 8D and more ...'hardcore', yeah, really!". Ffff.

I'm honestly not paying that close attention to E3, but it's fun to get random updates like this. Looking forward to news on what Nintendo's got in store :D

Saw the Microsoft conference. No huge surprises but some good stuff.

My thoughts during the show were something like this:

Call of Duty - Looks like Call of Duty.

MG Rising - Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! ZAN-DATSU! o_o CUT EVERYTHING! HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT! Looks absolutely amazing! Way beyond my expectations (I was kinda down on it to be honest). Slicing dudes looks disgustingly awesome. I'm guessing it's Move Natal compatible?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjOudapVRKc&fmt=22#ws (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjOudapVRKc&fmt=22#ws)

I do wonder why Raiden is a cyborg ninja again. Is it Raiden? He looks slightly cooler/buff than MGS4 though.

Gears - zzzzzzzzzzz Mutating enemies or something? I didn't get that. Maybe they'll finally fix the cutscene framerate problems that annoy me in gears.

Fable 3
- Terrible... Not sure If I want this and I was a big fan of Fable.

Reach - Yup that's Halo, looks pretty fun (I was watching with a friend who is a Halo nut, he was totally drooling over it though XD).

Kinect - Some decent stuff I guess, don't know if I would ever use any of it. I'm sure the soccer moms will love it. Seems like there is a noticeable delay in the motion recognition.

ESPN - Bastards, don't remind me of college football last year... The memories still make me sick. Great deal if it really is free.

Slim 360 - I was totally gonna get one if it came out at $200 like the arcade but in hindsight that was kinda unrealistic. :p

Man, sucks I gotta work tomorrow so I won't be able to see much of Nintando's or any of Sony's conference.

Reminds me of when I was babysitting for a couple kids and one was playing Goldeneye. They didn't want to go to bed so I told them if they could beat me they could stay up longer and if I won they had to go to bed. I figured it would be a piece of cake since I was pretty damn great at Goldeneye back in the day.

Well turns out the kid was some kind of savant or something and kicked my ass.

Nintendo press conference sounds pretty crazy. I'm really looking forward to watching the videos of new Donkey Kong, new Goldeneye, the 3DS games, new Golden Sun, Warren Spector's game on Mickey Mouse, new Zelda!! Jesus Christ! :w00t:

Perhaps the more interesting original IP I've seen so far is Child of Eden a spiritual successor to Rez, by the same creator, that I think uses the Natal.

Nintendo... I'm not interested in 3D at all, but they still managed to get me excited about the new console (and I probably won't even buy it for many many years, if ever). I was just like.. I WANT TO TRY IT!!! hahaha They know how to build up hype.

I'm disappointed that Nintendo didn't have any new IP to show off. While I can play and enjoy sequels (rehashes), something brand new would be nice. They listed 10 games in their closing, not a single one was a new property. The DK and Kirby game look like they could be sweet, especially if the Yarn mechanics in Kirby aren't just a cheap gimmick.

I'll reserve judgement on the 3DS until I can actually play it for myself, and see hard tech specs. It sounds like it could be pretty sweet, though. Also: 3D porn

New Donkey Kong Country, holy shit. Sony Conference had lots of interesting stuff.
Killzone 3 was pretty
Playstation Plus online subscription (boooo~)
Move. I don't care till it comes out
Dead Space 2 looked exciting
LBP2 didn't show much, bit it's a 100% purchase anyways. Top-down view is a great addition  :thumbup
Portal 2 on PS3 was weird
Infamous 2 was a nice suprise
Gran Tourismo 5 got a Nov release date (yaaay~)

Disappointments. SquaEnix just showing the FF 14 MMO. Was hoping them showing more KH or FFvs13 (do they still remember they're making this game?)

Dead Space 2 looked like...Dead Space. But then the original wasn't new in anyway either, just executed very well. So if they do the same here then I'll certainly consider it.

Just a little less than a month to go now until E3 kicks off again this year. Last year was a nice return to form for the event after having been downplayed over the past couple of years and this year looks to continue the trend with some big games already on the horizon. May as well kick off discussion by asking what games or announcements are you looking forward to seeing more of? Or perhaps what do you even hope will be announced? For me, I'd like to see more of:

Wii 2
NGP (Sony's new handheld)
Zelda : Skyward Sword
Assassins Creed : Revelations
Batman : Arkham City
Bioshock Infinite
Deus Ex : Human Revolution
The Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim
Shadows of the Damned
The Last Guardian
Battlefield 3
Modern Warfare 3
Mass Effect 3
Final Fantasy XIII-2/Versus/Agito
Catherine
Street Fighter x Tekken

And on my wish list I'd be super stoked if the following were announced:

Shenmue 3
Mirrors Edge 2
Persona 5
Virtua Fighter 6
Metal Gear Solid 5
GTA V
Bayonetta 2

You know, I was gonna mention Devil May Cry 5, but then I remembered they're doing that remake :(

Just as a note, E3 starts on Jun 7, but Sony and Microsoft like to have their pre-event conferences before then, so expect some announcements from them a few days earlier.

Wow, I feel like E3 2011 is approaching us fast. I would definitely like to see a new GTA. I'm also hoping that they'll reveal more of Saints Row 3, seeing as though it was originally supposed to debut at last year's E3, and then the travesty that was the Spike Video game awards.

An announcement for a western release of Yakuza of the End would be nice as well.

Love me some E3 oh yea. Gimmie some:

Mass Effect 3
-Some looks at some of the planets and locations. Introduce some of the companions. Maybe a walk through of the even more improved Normandy. Elevators return so no more immersion breaking 30 second plus long load screens or mission complete stat screens. (85% chance)

Skyrim
-Demo on stage at one of the press conf. Although it's the type of game that doesn't show well in that type of setting, i just wanna see it. (100% chance)

Bioshock Infinite
-A trailer, some gameplay. (90% chance)

MGS Rising
- A better idea what the heck game is. More cool demo's of stuff getting cut in half. (60% chance)
MGS 5
- Some kind of epic teaser/trailer like all metal gear games. Also please make it a continuous adventure like 1-3 not broken into missions like the psp games and 4. Also make snake bad ass again and have a cool semi futuristic setting and bosses. What would really rock my socks would be a MGS style action game but set in the snatcher or policenauts universe with some adventure elements. Also a ZOE game this generation would be a nice treat. (5% chance  :()

Resident Evil 6

-Hopefully it's really scary and in Racoon City.

Project cafe
- Console reveal along with delicious new Mario game, Metroid from Retro Studios, brand new Animal Crossing. Proof of concept demos for the touch controller. (95% chance)

New Xbox
- Specs and maybe a teaser or tech demos. (20% chance)

New Playstation
-Pretty much same as xbox. (10% chance)

God I love new console generation time.

List of others since i'm lazy typing details.
Gears Of War 3 - (100% chance)
Soul Calibur V - (100% chance)
Uncharted 3 - (100% chance)
Journey - (100% chance)
Diablo 3 - (80% chance)
Hitman 5 - (75% chance)
Sly cooper 4 - (50% chance)
Versus XIII - (20% chance)
Half Life 3 - (2% chance :()
KOTOR 3 - (2% chance :()
GTA 5 - (2% chance)
The Last Guardian
God of War 4
The Darkness II
Rayman Origins

Perfect Dark 2
Doom4

Last but most important:
Dreamcast 2 launch games include Shenmue 3, Ristar 2, Daytona USA, NFL2K12, Phantasy Star V and Minecraft with exclusive Chao raising mod. Hooks up directly to your brain, it's thinking 11.11.11 (sorry skyrim)

A surprise or 2.

I honestly don't expect any new console news from Microsoft. They have a Kinect install base to make happy & there is nothing that would warrant some announcement. Nintendo's Project Cafe I don't think Microsoft sees as a sign to get a new console going & Sony's recent troubles says to me Microsoft has nothing to worry about.

But hey, E3 has a history of surprises.

It's just right around the corner! Next week even! I don't see any major announcement from Microsoft, they have Kinect which I'm sure they want to focus more attention to before turning to a new console. Sony's in a similar situation with the Move. I'm interested to see Project Cafe (stupid name).

To add one to my wishlist, I hope Project Gotham Racing 5 gets announced. Seeing as Bizarre Studios is no longer involved (sadly) I hope the successor realises the main strength of the series stemmed back as far as Metropolis Street Racer for the Dreamcast. So PGR5 will have all the gameplay and shiny graphics to match PGR4 but this time, they give each city their own radio station with DJ's that speak in that country's native tongue and music native and unique to that country as they did with MSR and PGR2. Also, they have a day/night cycle as they did with MSR, so you can drive in racetracks in London at 15:00PM and it will be day time but drive in say, Tokyo, and it will 23:00PM where you drive at night.

Honestly, to me, that would be the most perfect racing game of all time. You have no idea how disappointed I was to find PGR4 didn't have DJ's but this generic ass soundtrack that you could play in any city. It completely killed the personality of the series and even removed the heart and soul from driving, as good as the gameplay actually was.

But hey, E3 has a history of surprises.

I don't know if they will announce anything, I just know that starting with 360 Microsoft REALLY put a big emphasis on being first to market (there is a interesting book called The Xbox 360 Uncloaked that details the development of the 360). I think they expected the PS3 to come out in 05 so they really expedited the 360s development so they could at least get out at the same time. I don't know if they feel the same way with Nintendo being first as they would with Sony but I don't think a teaser of what to expect next generation would be out of the question. Kind of like they did with teasing "project natal" a couple years ago not really showing what it looks like or giving specifics but getting people talking before the reveal the next year. Kinect will probably get a lot of time too. MS makes money on the Kinect hardware so i think a lot of the stuff will be in line with Dance Central 2 and optional noveltys added in for regular games.

Also after hearing some details of Bioshock Infinite that is probably my most anticipated game to see.

Some interesting predictions on a special edition of the Giant Bombcast over the weekend. Who knows if they'll really be true or not but they're interesting nonetheless. Like, with the 3DS not doing as well as expected and hinging on the success of Project Cafe, could Nintendo's future end up like Sega's where it's software only and they could make a lot of people happy and make a lot of money in the process?

Harmonix have said they plan to announce a game, so Dance Central 2 doesn't seem out of the question.

Square Enix unveiled their lineup for E3 this year:

Quote

  • TOMB RAIDER®, from Redwood City–based studio Crystal Dynamics®, ratchets up the intensity and takes gamers into the world of Lara Croft as they have never seen before.
  • A new tale continues the story of FINAL FANTASY® XIII. With new characters come new destinies in FINAL FANTASY XIII–2, which will be playable for the first time at E3.
  • Gaming in 2011 gets augmented with DEUS EX®: HUMAN REVOLUTION™ from Eidos–Montréal, marking the series’ triumphant return.
  • Agent 47™ takes on his most dangerous contract to date in HITMAN® ABSOLUTION™ from IO Interactive A/S.
  • The island of Banoi may seem like paradise — until players realize they are among a handful of survivors of a zombie outbreak in DEAD ISLAND™ from Deep Silver.
  • Obsidian Entertainment’s DUNGEON SIEGE® III offers intuitive action gameplay, a robust RPG system with an extensive selection of abilities, an endless variety of loot and an engaging storyline.
  • WAKFU® is a fantasy MMO adventure with a tactical combat system and a unique anime style from Ankama Studio.
  • HEROES OF RUIN™ is a brand new adventure for the Nintendo 3DS™ featuring a lineup of unlikely heroes and deep social functionality.

When oh when are we going to see Versus XIII content? :banghead:

Well the Microsoft conference was very underwhelming. Even Mass Effect was just showing some lame voice command stuff (do you even need kinect for that? Why not just use a headset, i'm sure it would be more accurate) and what was with Shepard and Mordin's voices? Gears looked like decent fun as usual. Also Minecraft kinect?

Thankfully they showed Skyrim on Gametrailers tv afterwards. Summoning lightning storms, Mammoths, Giants, Dragons, Dragons picking up Giants! GOTY! They also showed Arkham City which looked great too. Not sure how I feel about playing as Catwoman though. I mean nothing against Catwoman but I would rather be Batman all day every day thank you very much.

Wow. WOW. I have a huge hard on after watching that Skyrim footage. Fucking awesome.

Microsoft was indeed underwhelming. Mostly Kinect which, you know you have to pimp, seeing as the number of games released for it has been grinded to a halt since release but none of the stuff I've seen looks like it would make me buy one. Also, the horrible actors on stage doing the Kinect demos. *sigh*

Watched the EA press conference in the IRC and the stand out game was Mass Effect 3 for sure. Sadly, SSX and the KOTOR MMO was all CGI trailers. The KOTOR MMO is perhaps more disappointing considering they did the same thing last year. No Shadows of the Damned being shown either. And the Battlefield 3 demo went on a tad too long I felt.

Halo 4? A new trilogy? I shouldn't really be surprised but man that's depressing.

Infinite looks fucking incredible though. If only more developers came up with worlds and game concepts one-tenth as interesting as Ken Levine's games. Pretty much all the other shooters I've seen just have no soul to them.
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2011-bioshock-infinite/714966 (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2011-bioshock-infinite/714966)

Sony's conference wasn't a whole lot better than Microsoft's overall. PSVita, despite the dumb name DO WANT. I can't believe it's out this year and only 250 smackers. I thought next year and 300+ low end. It will be worth it just for Hot Shots golf, Super Star Dust and the mini-games people will make for Little Big planet which looked amazing. I just want that big OLED sexiness.

Oh yea one thing that annoyed the heck out of me was how every damn trailer had the "PWAYSTATION" and "SONY Make Believe" flash screens afterward. I mean do we really need to see that 20 dang times!? Also the 3D crap. Protip: Hardly anybody cares. Stop wasting development resources on it in any way. I tried MLB The Show with the ridiculous battery pack glasses on a 65 inch TV and it barely worked and just plain looked terrible in 3D. I won't even mention the Move stuff they had at the conference (lolz) They also only showed Journey for a split second. >:\

Makes you wonder how Nintendo, probably with a trusted group of 3 year-old consultants, come up with such nice and fun names.

I only heard about this through the Giant Bombcast but when Kaz Harai announced that 3G support for the PS Vita was going to be done with AT&T there was a collective groan from the audience

Some more note worthy games I've seen:

Ninja Gaiden 3 - So this one has QTE's? Ok fine I can deal with that. But QTE's for every enemy you fight? Nah uh!

Anarchy Reigns - Platinum Games are probably one of the finest developers this gen with impressive games like Vanquish and Bayonetta. This one is the first time they've done any kind of multiplayer and it looks like fun! Like a multiplayer God Hand if you can imagine

Asuras Wrath - Looks over the top and kinda crazy. Count me in

Deus Ex : Human Revolution - One of the games I'm looking forward to most this year. Looking good

I haven't laughed as much as I have done in a while after listening to Giant Bomb's E3 podcasts. In particular, having Mega64 and John Vignocchi was just hilarious with the stories they told. And also talking about the SW Kinect demo and Jeff's own inside scoop on the developers reaction to the poor demo presentation

Some more highlights:

A Game Of Thrones : Genesis - Perhaps unsurprisingly, a game based off the popular TV show. Looks shit though

Resident Evil Revelations - The RE Western developed game. Now with added Jill Valentine! :o

Dark Souls - The spiritual successor to Demon's Souls. Looks twice as epic and twice as hard!

Far Cry 3 - Probably the only real surprise game announcement of E3, this looks pretty satisfying. The antagonist seems to be well acted and realised. Definately got this one on my radar.

Uncharted 3 - Without a doubt, this will be a strong contender for GOTY. And with good reason. God I wish I had a PS3.

It's coming up to that time of year again. E3 2012 is due June 5-7 at the LA Convention Centre. What currently announced games are you looking forward to seeing more of this year? But better yet, what games or announcements do you wish would be announced? For me right now I definately want to see more of:

- Wii U
- Assassins Creed 3
- GTA V
- Resident Evil 6
- Dishonored
- Tomb Raider
- Metal Gear Rising : Revengeance

And my wishlist:

- Microsoft and Sony's next gen console (Doubtful for this year, more likely for next, but some rumours at least would be handy)
- Shenmue 3 (a Shenmue 1 release for XBLA shall suffice)
- Kingdom Hearts 3
- Bayonetta 2
- Final Fantasy Versus XIII

Trying to not get my hopes up too sky high, but in a perfect world there would be:

-Wii U games and more info (Super Mario World 3, New Mario RPG, Zelda, Metroid, Retro Studios game etc)
-New Playstation and Xbox

-Half Life 3 *single tear*
-Metal Gear Solid 5
-Metal Gear Solid Rising
-Bioshock Infinite
-GTAV (I know Rockstar doesn't go to e3 but maybe one of the big conferences will have something)
-Shenmue HD *single tear*
-Doom 4
-God of War: Ascension
-Halo 4
-Assassins Creed III
-Tomb Raider
-Last of us
-Resident Evil 6
-Hitman Absolution
-Dead or Alive 5
-Skyrim expansion
-Whatever Respawn Entertainment has been working on

Kind of given up on Versus XIII and The Last Guardian

I will LOVE watching this on youtube. I hope the controls aren't clumsy and the game glitchy, to anyone who will play it :D

Dishonored also looks kind of interesting, but I hope there's some interesting reason for slashing people because the trailer looks a lot like "yay let's just slash ppl isn't this blood awesome (feat. stereotypical creepy kid singing)".

Haha, omg. I watche that Injustice trailer last night and wtf. It's literally nothing but punching and I thought Batman was wearing a corset for a minute. At least Wonder Woman looks badass? But idk, the game as a whole just seems like "YEAH, LET'S FUCK SHIT UP. BONUS POINTS FOR GOOD GRAPHICS." and that's about it.

And yeah, I definitely want to see what Nintendo has in store, especially with the Wii U coming out (even though I'm not too excited about that console just yet).

^ Rumour has it that Nintendo plan to show off something new with Star Fox, F-Zero and Super Smash Bros. Whether they're for the 3DS or Wii U is unknown, or whether it's true at all. But a HD Star Fox sounds cool!

Injustice just looks weird. It's from the same team behind Mortal Kombat but I'm pretty sure you won't get fatalities. I just found it odd that Batman kicked Solomon Grundy so hard he went through like 6 different buildings

Microsoft press conference was just over. Aside from a few cases, mainly RE6, the Microsoft press conference was not only disappointing, but pretty fucking boring. All this cross media BS too. If I can't access spankwire through my TV, through IE, through Xbox, through my phone, then I ain't interested. The best part was having Trey Parker and Matt Stone coming out and immedately making fun of it. And then Usher came out and started dancing....

So yeh, pretty disappointing. Here's hoping for some good stuff from the later press conferences.
Title: Re: E3 2012
Post by: zoolander on June 04, 2012, 08:52:44 PM
Yea there wasn't much of interest, quite boring really. The best looking game was Halo (I had to check out the gameplay afterwards since I missed it live). Splinter Cell, Tomb Raider and Resident Evil 6 all looked the same. Crazy shit happens you run away, QTE, barely survive, shoot some people, rinse repeat.

The best part was South Park where they made fun of all the integration Microsoft just pushed for half an hour and they said they wanted it to be like Paper Mario. XD
Title: Re: E3 2012
Post by: shirenuファクトリー on June 04, 2012, 09:20:57 PM
Yeah that was really boring!!

I've been really excited about Tomb Raider so far, but I'm getting uncertain now. It seems that she's constantly getting bashed around, hurt, etc. and I'm sorry but if that happens all the time it'll get very old and torture porny. I thought there'd be just a few special scenes where she'd get injuries that kind of affect how she moves in the rest of the game etc. But this is just ridoinkilous. Constant hits, constant life threatening situations - yeah yeah I know that's what a game like this is about, but there should be some pacing ya know?? It should be even just a little bit realistic? I'll still probably check it out on youtube but I fear that the feminist side of me will be cringing before it's over

I thought we'd get this strong female heroine, but... It's starting to look bad, because torture porn =/= strong female character...
Title: Re: E3 2012
Post by: Tuffty on June 04, 2012, 10:02:03 PM
I'm just at unease about the whole Tomb Raider thing, like it is on the verge of torture porn as you're watching Lara getting constantly beaten, bruised, bloodied and literally impaled with sharp objects and screaming in pain. They've even taken the time to have camera angles zoom in on her face as she's reeling from the pain during or afterwards. It doesn't make for great viewing in my eyes. The game itself looks ok. Maybe it's the old school fan in me, but I would have preferred more platforming and puzzle solving in a giant tomb like in the old games. But I guess that's not cool now anymore.

*EDIT*

Nothing really special to say about EA's conference. Dead Space 3 is getting further away from survival horror with co-op gaming, universal ammo and human enemies to shoot at. No other surprises to speak of.

But Ubisoft? They haven't just won the battle of press conferences, they straight up killed it. Far Cry 3 was more interesting than I thought with it's psychadelic twist at the end. Rayman for the Wii U was charming. Assassins Creed 3 was spectacular, good golly I want it right now.

But the biggest surprise, and perhaps what sealed the deal was the announcement of a brand new IP, Watch Dogs. Only way I can describe it now is like GTA meets Deus Ex. It's a game that allows you to use the technology around you to your advantage like the guy was able to block communications on mobile phones to get past guards. You guys just have to see it for yourselves, it not only has some really cool looking concepts but it's algo graphically stunning to look at. Game of show so far, and I think it's why Ubisoft have won. It was all about games, really good looking games, not about cross media BS. And the surprise reveal of Watch Dogs will be something that gamers like myself would have wanted out of this E3. A new IP that isn't a sequel or a military FPS for once.

Sick ! Watch Dogs! its like GTA + Deus Ex x Heavy Rain

qr code in the demo (robot guy with the box on his head serving drinks) brings you to

Injustice: the mk series was brought back to life with mk9. It looks like mk9 but with dc characters, which isn't bad at all. I'm pretty sure its gonna have a really good story mode, because mk9's story was one of the best single player storylines in fighting game history.

Metal Gear Rising: i'm happy to see this game coming out. it's too bad it's not using the original engine.

Tomb Raider: i was never a tomb raider fan, but it looks pretty sick.

Sleeping Dogs: another game i'm happy to see come out. I really liked the original True Crime. Its just now seeing the Watch Dogs Demo above, i sleeping dogs looks sooooo 5 years ago.

The Last of us: very interesting game, but it seems like all they've shown are cut scenes?
edit: there's gameplay video! Naughty Dog does it again!

Beyond - Two Souls: nice, new quantum dream game! heavy rain with more action! Ellen Page is now on 2 blockbuster games =D

PIKA'S GIANT POST OF HATE

Well not really, I'm probably too lazy, plus a lot of stuff was really too bland to actually HATE, well, some things XD

The Nintendo pre-E3 stream I missed, but I aint even mad that the classic controller looks a lot like like the 360 one, it's what a lot people have been complaining about, how Wii didn't have a REAL controller (it did, but, never mind) and DURR HOW CAN I PLAY COD ON THIS well, there you go, there's your controller, shut up. Plus it's not like modern controllers haven't been copying old Nintendo and Sega controllers right? how many gamepads are there with Super Famicom button colors? oh of course they switch them around a bit so it's not a copy, of course. Turnabout is fair play!

Microsoft - mostly a failure

I was joking around in IRC before this saying "imagine if it was worse than last years, that can't be true, right?" HAHA oh dear. If anyone really needed some kind of new hardware, it was probably Microsoft, since their console is really showing it's age, well instead we get "Smartglass" which is Microsoft's panicked reaction to last year's reveal of the WiiU, it works mostly in the same way, but I'd really be surprised if it's going to work on apple devices, at least for free anyway, considering they're business rivals, But I did notice some lag.
Also the other big announcement was INTERNET EXPLORER ON 360 wow. They also showed how you could use it on your new SMARTGLASS TABLET, you know, that thing that can browse the internet already, and already has IE or Safari on it already..woop.

When the South Park creators came out and insulted it, it was the best part of the entire conferance, haha.

Last year, Microsoft was Kinect this, Kinect that, and it was totally underwhelming and boring, this year they fixed that by barely showing their wonderous device at all, in fact the only kinect related stuff was all voice commands, making it esssentially a glorified expensive microphone, which the 360 ALREADY HAD FOR FREE BEFORE THE KINECT EVEN CAME OUT.
They did "show" one Kinect motion game, Dance Central 6, by having no-one play it and have Usher come out and do a uncomfortable performance, while the game played in the background.

The actual good stuff of the conferance was mostly 3rd party stuff that'll be on PS3/PC too anyway, plus that surprisingly good looking South Park game. halo 4 had very nice graphics, but it was quite a dull game to watch, same goes for COD, despite all the interest people had.

Ubisoft - success

The thing started out with a dance game, and yet another uncomfy performance from Flo-rida, pretty much the same presentation as the Microsoft one, and then the 2 weirdest hosts ever made the whole presentation really uncomfortable and awkward.

But! in saying that, Ubisoft had some really great games, I didn't really care much for the shooting games, but you can't deny they looked good for the fans who like those games. ACIII looked really good, and Watch Dogs looked really really fun, I was surpised at how open worlded it is, looks like a very fun version of GTA mixed with Deus EX or Syndicate or something, very cool :D

The wiiU games looked really good (apart from the usual launch shovelware that Ubisoft always brings out, lol) even there seemed to be a lot of British people dying during this XD

The e-sports thing looked kind of bad, like some kind of Quake 3 mod, haha. The presentation was ridiculous too, aparently all girl gamers must wear tiny hot pants and tight shirts to play games.

Sony - moderate success

I think Sony really wasted a big oppertunity here, Vita is not selling well, just like the 3DS in the beginning, before Nintendo's exciting presentation last year that got everyone interested in it, with lots of amazing new games. Sony did not do this at all, they did show one big game, an original version of ACIII which does look cool and comes with a white Vita, but apart from that? just games with 'crossplay' with existing PS3 games, or already announced games. Such a waste.

Beyond and Last of US look fantastic, and were the big highlights of Sony's show, along with some 3rd party stuff that Ubisoft and Microsoft showed earlier.

Playstation All-Stars? pfft. They're not even hiding the fact that it's a Smash Bros. clone anymore, the graphics aren't ~bad~ but it all just looks bland, brown, uninteresting... even the logo is similar to Super Mario All-Stars. Not only that, did we get exciting new stages? no. tons of exciting new characters? no.... they announced 2 new characters, and demo'd the same game they've been showing for months, in a really boring demo.

God of War looked cool, but was also a bit dull to sit and watch, but most games of it's type are like that.

They really aren't hiding the fact that Playstation All Stars is a knock off. In fact, they even tagged their trailer with 'SSBB' and 'Super Smash Bros' (http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/04/sony-tags-playstation-all-stars-as-super-smash-bros-on-youtub/).

And dude you totally forgot the E3 press conference! I remember when you got all excited by the Nike marketing pitch!!

Oh another thing I forgot was how angry the microsoft smartglass guy was getting when he said

"you can do this all on DEVICES YOU ALREADY OWN >:|"

about 5 times, hahaha.

when he was really saying

"DON'T BUY A WIIU >:|"

I watched gameplay of Star Wars : 1313 on top of an interview for the game. And in an embarrasing quote, someone tied to the game said "It's much more mature, see what I mean he's snapping his neck!" This industry can still be cringeworthily immature at times. Also, thinking about it all, does anyone get the sense that this E3 is particularly violent? A lot of the big games feature some kind of decapitation or up close kills. Someone sai it on my twitter feed best, 'Throat stabs are the new headshots'. It's not that I'm particularly worried it'll turn us all into blood thirsty killers, I just find it a weird juxtaposition that the criterea for a character being likeable still hinges on how utterly ruthless they are.

All I can remember from what I watched on G4 yesterday was the demo for The Last Of Us.  I haven't heard a demo with that many censors since....erm....ever.  In typical fashion, the Xbox presentation starts off with Halo 4 (oh joy...).  I lost interest in the Halo franchise after 3 (and maybe ODST).  At least Aaron Priceman ("Mr. Caffeine") wasn't there this year.  That's one speaker I don't ever want to see again.

Man, Nintendo's conference was a little lackluster. I'm pretty excited about Pikmin 3 and Scribblenauts, but those games don't really carry a console. New Super Mario Bros. looks really fun and smooth, and of course there's new features, but it's also not quite anything we haven't seen before. Hopefully the 3DS conference brings some more umph.

IDK I just figured with the launch of a new console, there'd be a little more? Even just a tease.

It was, sad to say, a lackluster show from Nintendo. All they had to say was "Mario HD, Zelda HD, Metroid HD. Peace bitches" and everyone would be happy. But instead we had 15 mins of the show and closing the conference out to Nintendoland, which looks the equivalent of WiiPlay or Wii Sports. It started promisingly with Pikmin 3, but then the details of the 3rd party stuff came out and it was just gimmicky features added to games that have already been out months before. The tech itself looks cool, I just wish they had shown off some proper games for it. Having said that, I do like new Paper Mario and seeing Heihachi grow massive after eating a super mushroom in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was pretty funny

A game like P-100 which they've just shown now after the show. It's a strategy game helmed by Hideki Kamiya (Bayonetta, Devil May Cry). It's colorful, the art style is reminiscent of Viewtiful Joe, and the game itself looks like Pikmin but with an action focus. It looks cool, which makes me wonder why they didn't show it rather than Just Dance 4 or Nintendoland for the 3rd time...

Dead Space 3 looks terrible, it's getting farther and farther away from what people originally liked about it. I'm pretty pumped about Dishonored and Beyond Two Souls I have some high hopes for.

Beyond Two Souls (http://e3.gamespot.com/video/6380483/beyond-two-souls-one-dangerous-girl-stage-demo?tag=Topslot;BeyondTwoSouls;ThereIsGameplayInBeyo;StageDemo) looks amazing, as expected from the makers of Heavy Rain.

For fans of platforming games that make you want to rip out your hair there is Hell yeah (http://e3.gamespot.com/video/6381479/a-devilish-delight)

Persona 4 Arena also had a  game play session (http://e3.gamespot.com/video/6381481/persona-4-arena-e3-2012-stage-demo)

For those not happy about the LOTR game, you can always check out the Lego verison (http://e3.gamespot.com/video/6381477/lego-the-lord-of-the-rings-e3-2012-stage-demo)

Watch Dogs sure looks nice. I'm wondering if the style (like how they show all the NPC info) will affect other games in the future.

For the circle of hack commands. maybe when you finish the game, they could add a command for some apprentice-assassins to jump in and break-dance. :P

Why is there so much talking in Dead Space now... Kind of losing its eerie quality. o-o

I had not heard of Beyond Two Souls. Looks like another game for me to Watch on Youtube.

Interestingly, Square Enix revealed a tech demo for their new game engine they are working on. This is a tech demo so the footage below isn't indicative of the plot or setting for a future Final Fantasy game, but this is what in game graphics could look like for a FF game in the next generation of consoles.

Watch Dogs looks bad-ass. Definitely intriguing.
