Isn't this going to be released in October? I have a feeling this single is going to be a knockout much like RIVER.
Since this will likely be the final single of the year, I think the best will be saved for last. RIVER was the single that got AKB into all those end of the year award shows and that may be the purpose of this single. A lot more effort was put into RIVER and you can see it in the dance and PV and hear it in the song. Also RIVER, which was a cool & solid song, built momentum for the next single, which turned out to be a bit unorthodox and might not have been well accepted if it hadn't been released on a high moment. Going from this single to the RSP single makes me think it'll be a similar pattern.
Okay, maybe it's not the final single of the year but the timing of the award shows still fit.

From reading their blogs, it seems like the members spent yesterday filming something dance intensive. I'm going to guess it was for this single. I think we'll finally get some good choreography this time. Mariko hurt her foot though. :(

There's mentions of Acchan killing Yuko and Mayuyu being stabbed to death on all sides by these floating dagger thingies :panic:
The screaming part was really awkward and not what I expected to hear. It sounded like she was in actual pain.

The 18th single is actually foreshadowing the results of the 19th senbatsu:
Title
BEGINNER. Does that name ring a bell at all? It should, because that's what a majority of the 19th senbatsu are. Uchida Mayumi beginning a new journey as a center, thrust into the media spotlight with no experience whatsoever. Does that sound like anyone else? Of course, BEGINNER's center, Maeda Atsuko.
Limbs getting cut off
The beginning of the end. Quite literally, a body without limbs is one that is destined to die. AKB48's frontgirls getting cut from the main body (the senbatsu) is the path to destruction for AKB48.
The fusion of fantasy and reality
The girls play a PSP-like console, where the reality is inherently connected to the fantastical universe they're in. Isn't that exactly what happens in the 19th single? Fan's dreams of lesser-known girls are finally getting a chance at senbatsu. Fantastical method, real-world consequence.
The competitive setting
Competitive setting, Jankenpon tournament, anyone?
Watanabe Mayu getting stabbed
Not just stabbed, but from all directions. What does this mean. As you may know, Yama-chan was the chief ref for the event. And yet, Mayuyu lost. What does this mean? An "Et tu, Yama-chan?" moment, of course. Mayuyu now has no one she can trust. Even the one she depended decided to bail on her. To her, this was more than just a stab in the heart. It was a million stabs to the body.
Maeda Atsuko screaming
This is actually a million signs in one. Maeda Atsuko foreshadowing the dawn of the new AKB48, where she is replaced by Uchida Mayumi, and the fact that she couldn't stand all the competition. She had to kill off Mayuyu to land a spot in senbatsu.
Conclusion
19th single is fixed.

EPIC DOPENESS! Beginner is quite possibly the most hiphop influenced AKB-song ever and it doesn't even sound like AKB48. I fucking love it! I could easily picture someone like Kanye West rapping over the beat. Anyways Beginner is definitely this year's RIVER and IT WILL BE BOUGHT since I won't be buying the 19th single.

Most likely Sayaka won't be in this single and I'm still excited about the song because it rocks. This means so much for me, because it makes me see I still love AKB even if Sayaka isn't there.

Hmmm..... where to start.
- I hated River and I'm not digging this that much either. However, I can see it's appeal. At least there's some guitars here and there.
- The PV sounds really awesome. Game setting, gore, murder... bring it on XD
- The covers reminds me of... Scandal's latest single (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=26358.msg780836#msg780836), but less popstar and more 'street.' I like the bottom right cover.
edit: in the fanrecording you can actually hear the POWER of the beat. That's pretty awesome. I think this song will definitely grow on me after blasting it on full volume a couple of times.

So far I think I'll be trying to get my hands on the Theater version- And right now, I'm leaning towards Type A as it has Mariko and Yuko's Beginner Formation vids on, as well as Acchan and Yuko on the cover :D

I confess... I had a sort of nightmare about AKB48's possible PV for Beginner-- it didn't wake me up or shake me up-- was just really gruesome...
It was that gap in the middle where Acchan screams... and she was getting cut in half OAO; really realistic... it was scary :shocked

Limited type A and B include a handshake ticket and a ticket to vote for the Request... 2011, while the Normal A and B include just the Request... 2011 voting ticket. Theater version is the usual theater version (CD only).
Also, remember Type A and B differs in the 3rd songs (C-side or B-side 2 xD)

After I watch the preview PV above, I have some guesses here.......
The part where Haruna's head get chopped was in the artifical world :
_I think i understand why Maeda screamed at the end of PV, not other members. I think because she's the last one who survive in this game so she can realize the terrified truth and feel the pain, all of other memembers are dead (I guess so)
_I also think the part where Haruna's head get chopped was in the artifical world, so the whole PV will be in the game, AKB48's members characters will be killed in the game without blood, but at the end of the PV, when they show Meada's hand is chopped off same as in the game, the audience will reallize the terried truth of this horror game

"AKB48 new single, "Beginner" will have 6 patterns of dance formation. The center will be decided right on the performance with Takamina's hand signal (like volleyball formation). The centers are top 6 of senbatsu except Mayuyu + Jurina as double center."

Woah! :D I wonder what they'll do in the PV... rotate the groups or use Acchan as the regular center- Actually, thinking about it, rotating them during the pv would be a good idea as I doubt all versions of members versions will be released to buy... ; 3 ;
I hope they do plenty of tv and live performances while promoting Beginner then! :twothumbs I can't wait to see all the versions!~
So Jurina's getting a spot even though she's number 10 in the rankings? I wonder who won't get a spot... the top 10 Senbastsu members acording to the last vote and Suprise Mook released are:
1- Yuko - Will most definetly get a center
2- Acchan - Will most definetly get a center
3- Mariko - Should get a center- she is third, but Mariko seems to miss out on things, so I won't be suprised if she doesn't!I'm keeping my fingers crossed though
4- Tomochin - She will probably will get a center, she's done Love Wars so that pretty much shows she could handle a lead
5- Mayuyu - Getting a center with Jurina
6- Takahashi - She's deciding the formation, so perhaps not getting one? But she normally gets alot of lines and centers with Acchan so she could?
7- Haruna - I said I'm concerned Mariko won't get a center position and/or Takahashi might not, if so- dse should? She hada fairly long death seen as we saw in the pv preview... makes me think she could get one
8- Yuki - Most likely won't get a ceter position.
9- Sae - As much as I'd like her to, Sae most likely won't get a center position.
10- Jurina - Getting a center spot even though she's 10th
My imediate reaction was shock at Jurina getting to share a Center lead even though other members rank higher than her- but then I realised Mayuyu is 5th so deserves her spot, and her and Jurina will look good together? But I'm sure Mayu could of handled to center on her own... she does so in Watarirouka Hashiritai, but perhaps they felt her vocal range is too high? :panic:
So, really all the Top 6 + Jurina should have a spot, but I could see that differing, especially due to Takahashi Minami being the one deciding who leads (might be bad to have the person deciding pick themselves on certain shows, or avoid picking themselves)
Edit: OAO; I'm not hating on Jurina or anything, if it comes off like that- I just feel like other members (Sae, Yuki, Haruna) could of been picked from to share a center with Mayu OAO

Yes, that's how they did it. The used the exact top 6 from the last election, so I guess that's fair. I wonder how the Takamina selection thing works though.

Darn, I forgot about the formation movie- lol so no need for my rambling... I'd forgotten about those as I'd guessed they'd be something to do with the storyline of the pv! OAO
If it had been... say... Rena and Jurina- that would make sence (aside from them both not being in the top 6) but Mayu and Jurina aren't a pair you'd normally see together, right? :? Weird choice...
Well, that basically decides it for me- I'll be getting Type A for sure-- Type B is apealing with Acchan, Takahashi, and Tomochin, but not as much as Yuko and Mariko for me!! Though, if type B's other songs really appeal to me... I may have to get both OAO;

I love this song! It feels a bit like they're going back to their darker style of songs- like Seifuku Ga Jama Wo Suru... obviously it's different but it gives me that feeling- like a more catchy, strong and slower version of Seifuku crossed with River!! ; u ;
I can't wait for this!! :lol: I'm not even bothered about what the B-sides are now! Just really eager to see this PV, and even if the other tracks aren't the best imo, I'll still be getting this! :D

Hearing the full song puts my fears to rest. As expected, most of the instrumentals were inaudible from the initial crappy rips. It's pretty cool when you can hear everything.
Just hope the PV is a little balanced. Amazing as their appearance was in Heavy Rotation, I'd like to see the Matsui's and other members for more than four seconds.

It's too hip-hop for me as I really do Not like hip-hop/rap but... to each their own.
I may just get the CDs just for the photo card or B-side song as "Beginner" doesn't interest me at all!

But- I'd imagine that the solo/duet dance versions would be cut down a bit- as they're probably only going to perform a shorter version on tv and things... still as shame though as a full dance shot for each would be awesome! :lol: Haven't seen many dance shots released from AKB48 (or atleast by the leading members) so I'm pretty excited! The real PV, if this isn't it, can't be much more. I think this might be it with as short as the editing was announced. They were still showing it in concert "uncut" just days ago. Sadly this might be it or close. Maybe for the single CD+DVD they'll have something a tiny bit more cleaned up, but we're just 12 days away from release. To be honest, I'm not expecting too much. Good thing the song is badass. The more I listen to it, the more I love it. Also, can I just mention I totally have a thing for excessive eye liner on pretty ladies? I'll like the PV regardless. :nervous

They could atleast throw in some clips of them walking/standing with weopens, I mean, surely they'd have some that weren't strict to the pv's story line that could be threaded in somewhere, just to make it more exciting and varied- not just the dance shot and making of shots?? The in game scenes gave a nice spark to the dark, moody dance shot clips- it's a real shame to lose that contrast...
But I mean, the song is so strong, there's varied dance versions on the single, and the recent success of Heavy Rotation, not to mention the slight contraversy of the concept sounding so gory and then getting cencored and cut possibly bringing even more attention to Beginner- I won't be suprised if this sells even better than their last single, or atleast somewhere around Ponytail to Shushu and Heavy Rotation! :twothumbs

The original PV contains quite a bit of controversial scenes, such as Kojima Haruna’s face being chopped into half, Oshima Yuko getting stabbed by black thick needle looking thing, and Maeda Atsuko chopping her own arm off. Though it was shown at “AKB48 19th Single Senbatsu Janken Taikai” on September 21st, and also at “AKB48 Tokyo Autumn Festival” on October 10th, they released a different “dance version” PV which was a much different PV than the original.
On October 15th, King Records made an official announcement about the music clip, “The music clip version of ‘Beginner’ that will be included on the release of AKB48’s new single (scheduled to be released October 27th) will be different from the original music clip version of ‘Beginner’ that was shown at ‘AKB48 19th single Senbatsu Janken Taikai’ on September 21st, and also at ‘AKB48 Tokyo Autumn Festival’ on October 10th. Also, some parts that were shown in TV spots were from the original version, but those will also not be included with the single. The original music clip version will only be distributed through Recochoku starting on October 27th at midnight. Comparing the present with 1999, the Music Industry went through an enormous change with the Digital Music Market as well as Internet Releases becoming popular. According to the RIAJ (Recording Industry Association of Japan), the CD Production reached a peak in 1998 with a total income of 5878 hundred million, and has progressively decreased until a total income of 2459 hundred million in 2009. In middle of such situation, this brilliant achievement holds a big importance.
This single includes 3 new songs and others for a total of 6 tracks included. "Beginner" feature an aggressive choreography with a never-seen before "Center Rotation" concept with 6 different patterns. the Music Video was Directed by Nakajima Tetsuya (51), known for movies such as "Kokuhaku".
AKB48 has being increasing their sales numbers with each new release. starting with "Sakura no Shiori" selling over 300,000 copies in its first week and "Ponytail to Shushu" and "Heavy Rotation" also managing to get consecutive first-week sales surpassing 500,000 copies each release.
a Tower Records' PR Commented, "Compared to the last time (Heavy Rotation) the period for preorders was smaller, but it completely outsold it. as a competition with JE's top groups, it (AKB48) makes an strong rival" . a Music Researcher also commented: "Compared with the normal Downloads and such, this time the number of middle and high-school students buying CDs is big".
AKB48 held their first Korean Live the 23th of this month. and in November they have concerts scheduled in Makao and Singapore among other overseas locations. Heading to the End-Year Music Shows, AKB48 seems to be building a lot of expectation.

I've always maintained that AKB needed to tie-in their single to a culture pop phenomenon for it to get the magic million.

I really don't get why this PV has to be censored. There was only 1 semi violent scene and that was when Aachan's hand gets hurt in the real world. Everything else was video game violence and it had little heart icons when their characters died, how violent is that :lol: Majisuka Gakuen is WAY more violent and crude than Beginner. Anyways I really enjoyed the PV it was something new and refreshing.

After seeing the original PV, it's not really violent.
Acchan's scream is disturbing and somewhat frightening but who wouldn't wonder about someone screaming?!
It may be that the company itself kicked of this Censoring campaign to drive up interest, hence increasing awareness, which then drives up sales! It would not surprise me as the company probably found a marketing gimmick to promote the single!
I like "Beginner" and the B-side songs are slowly growing on me!

lolol That wasn't very violent! :lol: Though, I can see why perhaps putting that version on tv during the day could freak out children... or... make them scared of robots/games?
I guess the worst bits were Acchan screaming and then Yuko helping her before dying.... :O but you couldn't really cut out that bit out without messing up the story line- hence having to cut out the whole of those versions when making the Dance Version!
It does seem a bit like like a clever plan to get more interest and sales-- they surely would of thought of this when planning and producing the pv, BUT went through with it anyway! So, in the end, they got to get loads of interest surrounding the single and pv versions and talk of censoring, release a pretty cool pv (though the making of clips were a little annoying when the sound cut out) AND release a kick ass "banned" pv via mobile download that, though it may not be overly gory, it's still risky enough to say it's not suitable to be shown on tv! :lol:

For all you statistics fans out there, I just want to make some Morning Musume comparisons to make the sales more exciting. I don't want to start idol group rivalry or anything.
Morning Musume's highest first week sales are 600,860 for Koi no Dance Site. With Beginner's current 568K it seems likely AKB48 will beat that record.
Secondly, another interesting number to keep an eye on is 682,320. These are the total reported sales for MM's classic song The Peace. It would be cool if AKB48 can reach this level.

In its first day in stores, "Beginner" sold more than 568,000 copies. According to The Natsu Style, this is the highest first-day sales figure for a single since Oricon began announcing daily sales data. In comparison, Arashi's single "Monster" previously set this year's record for opening-week sales at 543,000. I got 2 of the same Acchan photos!!
It was in a small plastic slip with a photo and not part of the sealed CD/DVD.
Couldn't the person who handled the order just look at the picture to make sure a duplicate was Not included?
Was hoping one of the photos could have been for Yuko or Mariko!
Is a photo also given to the CD/DVD version or theatre version CD version or not?

^ I think you would also recieve a photo with the CD/DVD as I did when I bought Heavy Rotation- I'm not sure about the Theater version though, as I've only come across it on ebay before....
Yeah, it's a shame about getting a duplicate but I think online stores must only get one type, or work through say, a box of the same photo, before opening a new one-- they're very busy with many orders, so I don't think they have the time to think of the fans and their collections! D: However, I'm sure many members here will buy the CD's and get some duplicates!! You could make a post in this (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=23960.0) thread showing the photo you're willing to trade and say what members you like-- people will make offers- and lucky you, because Acchan will probably be wanted by alot of people!! :lol:

^yeah, Yesasia might be the exception, since they also got the Love Wars posters and such. Their sales count towards oricon too, so I guess they made some sort of deal with someone.
And sadly, as far as I know you can only buy the Theater version cd with photo at the actual theater, and maybe at some of their events. That's why the photos go for so much money, because they're hard to get.

Oricon has just announced the official weekly sales numbers for AKB48's latest single "Beginner." In its first week, the single sold approximately 827,000 copies, becoming their fifth consecutive number-one.
That total sets a new record for first-week single sales by a female group, surpassing SPEED's "ALL MY TRUE LOVE," which sold 601,000 copies in 1998. Among all female artists (group and solo), "Beginner" ranks #3 in first-week single sales, behind Hikaru Utada's "Addicted To You" (1.068 million) in 1999 and Namie Amuro's "CAN YOU CELEBRATE?" (828,000) in 1997. However, that makes them #1 so far in the 21st century, outselling Utada's "Can You Keep A Secret?" (784,000) in 2001.
"Beginner" is also AKB48's third consecutive single to sell more than half a million copies in the first week. This also sets a record for female artists, as Utada and Ayumi Hamasaki held the previous record with streaks of two consecutive singles.

Right, now here's my prediction...
Their 19th single will sell like Heavy Rotation and Ponytail to Shushu, getting number one like normal but not being as amazing as Beginner's sales (though maybe getting around 700k possibly if the songs are amazing).
However- I think, if the songs they include on the 20th single are good enough- like beginner or Heavy Rotation- THAT could be their 1 million first week sales record- as not only will it be an awesome single- but it'll be their 20th and possibly even have something special with it....
:D So I'm hoping for a 2011 record breaking single!!~ :lol:

The clips are based on 1080 transmissions from Japan so each episode are huge ~5-6Gb :panic:

Unfortunately, you'll have to find who the guest artists are yourself in each episode as EF doesn't publish that info.

On November 10, the Recording Industry Association of Japan officially certified that it has shipped 1 million copies, becoming the group's first single to reach that milestone. The last single to achieve a certified million was Masafumi Akikawa's "Sen no Kaze ni Natte" in August 2007. "Beginner" already sold approximately 827,000 copies in its first week, setting a new record as a female group. In its second week, the single sold roughly an additional 64,000 copies to put its total sales at around 891,000 copies, as it edges closer to a potential 1 million in actual sales.

A group of girls from Mexico who call themselves “Las Famosas Inalcanzables“, which means “The Unreachable Famous Ones” in Spanish, were recently seen performing an adaptation of AKB48’s “Beginner“, which they have titled, “Champu Para Tus Ojos (Shampoo For Your Eyes)“.
While many are saying they plagiarized the song, it says in the beginning of the video that it is an adaption, and some are even calling it a parody. Regardless, “Las Famosas Inalcanzables” have appeared on Spanish television performing “Champu Para Tus Ojos”, and news has since traveled all the way to Japan.

yeah basically her tie gets caught on her mic, she carries on. There's a dance move where she pulls it off(well her arm goes away and she yanks the tie off) she must've tied it back on when the rest of akb48 ran on.
lol takamina's mic is definitely on, you can hear her and someone else scream/squeak when they're running from one side of the stage to the other in aitakatta.

^ Yeah they shipped out over a million because they estimated the single would sell that way-- basically- It came out that they were releasing so many copies which suggests to everyone it's going to do so well meaning it got all over the news~!
XD The sales being so high probably partly had something to do with the news-- I mean, if you're a fan of AKB48 but don't buy their single much but you hear they might have the highest first week sales/selling single ever in Japan it would probably make you want to support them by buying one or two copies- not to mention people who're just hearing about them and wanted to check it out after seeing the article! :lol:
