Highlights:
- With that vote difference, looks like top 2 is set to be Yuko/Atsuko, with Yuki pretty close to being set on #3.
- HELL YEA SASHIKO IN TOP10!
- HELL FREAKIN' YEA, YUKA'S IN SENBATSU Though there's still room for her to be displaced :\
- Current Top23 kinda looks like Kachuusha senbatsu

My thoughts as I read through the list (as posted by BarrieV):

"Ooh, Sayaka (Yamamoto) is pretty high in the Undergirls, maybe I should vote for her and try to push her into Senbatsu"

"No wait, Tomo~mi needs my vote to try to get into the Media Girls, plus Sayaka should be fine because the higher ranked Undergirls got more screen time than the lower ranked Senbatsu last time anyway."

"What the fucking hell, Tomochin is way down in eighth place!?!? I've got to vote for my Oshi now!"

"Wow, way to go Yukirin. I'm still voting for Tomochin, though."

Not that my votes are going to make that much of a difference.

08. Itano Tomomi

Let's try to make sense of this!

- Tomochin fangirls don't vote? Sure, they like Tomo, but why would they care about some election?
- Tomochin's bad guy character on Majisuka Gakuen backfired? She switched schools, while loyalty is valued in Japanese society?
- Media overkill? Singles, CMs, Fashion, Magazines, etc?
- Plot by Aki-P to make the Tomochin fans buy more CDs?

Title: Re: [Event] The 3rd Senbatsu Election

^ I've felt that lately her wota standing might be in peril. She's starting to get really into fashion and work like that and her solo work really isn't your typical idol music. Plus she doesn't really act like an idol at all. She's just a normal acting girl from all I see of her. There's charm in that, but still... I have a feeling some of these rankings will change dramatically by the end. We're talking about over a MILLION potential votes.

I think I've about decided who I want to vote for, but actually putting them in and pushing the button might take a little more time. :nervous

It's far more simple. That AKBingo palm reader said she would lose fans.

Surprised to see Yuko leading, or it is just a plot by Aki-P to tricking the fans to buy more CD?  :?

Just voted for Maeda through AKB48 application for iOS lol Just had to pay 315 yen for the monthly fee but I will remove it soon enough.
Wanted to buy a CD and vote for Acchan but dont know what to do with the CD, and my girlfriend is not happy with me liking ABK48 already  XD. Plus paying 315 yen is just cheaper than a 1600 yen CD lol
Not that my vote matters but still proud of myself  Will consider buying a CD to vote one more vote before too late.

I thought that perhaps fans chose to vote for their other favourite members as she appears to be safe in a solo career. I mean, she's had a couple of singles and some digital ones, which seems to promise more in the future- her going down a couple of ranks probably won't effect her solo work too much. For some fans that might give votes to a few members... why have Tomochin solo and all over AKB48 things too, when you could use those votes to get less popular members into senbatsu or media senbatsu? :P

But yeah- these early reports could be fake to get people to buy more cd's!
Lots of things there to make fans want to buy/vote more:
- Yuko and Acchan are only 1000votes apart... their wotas will battle it out.
- Yuki stole Mariko's 3rd spot/jumped up a good few places? Rage! let's buy more!
- Jurina's place number is HIGHER than her own age? That's just not right.
- What on earth are some of these less popular girls doing placing higher than my front girls??
(.... not my opinions)
Though, I suppose things like that would happen with any results.... I felt like rambling about it anyway.

For the first time I will pay more attention to the Senbatsu Election!  Glad to know that Sasshiko and Akicha are in the media senbatsu, however Akicha don't have a comfortable position :S

Despite the apparition in various programs, Minegishi doesn't looks too popular among the fans...I would like to see her in a better classification! :D

Takamina in 4th place?  I think it is ok for her, better than the 6th place of the last year...

French Kiss boosted the Yukirin's popularity, doesn't it?  Very good for the queen of reaction xD

Very curious to see the final results...!

I did some Google Trends research:

Blue = Acchan, Red = Yuko

Same chart, but focusing on the last 30 days:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blue = Yuki, Red = Mayu

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Top 10 from the preliminary results + cross reference chart (I did more than I'm posting for better results):

(http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/3935/95539120.th.jpg) (http://img263.imageshack.us/i/95539120.jpg/) (http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/4953/62876858.th.jpg) (http://img706.imageshack.us/i/62876858.jpg/) (http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/4315/crossv.th.jpg) (http://img28.imageshack.us/i/crossv.jpg/)

So, according to these results the Top 10 will be:

10. Kojima Haruna
09. Matsui Rena
08. Sashihara Rino
07. Takahashi Minami
06. Watanabe Mayu
05. Shinoda Mariko
04. Itano Tomomi
03. Kashiwagi Yuki
02. Maeda Atsuko
01. Oshima Yuko

Itano and Kashiwagi are really close. Itano's been more popular throughout the month, but Yuki made an insane leap forward on 24/05?  :O2
Title: Re: [Event] The 3rd Senbatsu Election
Post by: adsad on June 02, 2011, 03:39:51 PM
Well, Yuko and Yukirin is peaked at 24-25/5 becuz that early result surprise.

Tomochin has a mobile promotion ad which begins at early May making her seen everywhere that there exists a mobile shop.

Acchan start appearing everywhere during this 2 weeks, have TV appearance, news or magazine covers released everyday.

If you continue research, Acchan is probably leading now.

(And if u compare between supposedly two top, one had all kind of media exposures everywhere, one had only 2-3 things during election time, good job Ohta)

Sae! So close to TOP 10! But anyway, she made it to the media senbatsu so it's alright  :) Only wished Yuko would have beat Acchan but I'm ok with the results  8)

I'm a bit disappointed that Yuko dropped to #2, but it's all good

For me the shockers were Itano at #8, Jurina at #14, Sasshi Domination and Kojima beating Takamina.

Kumi's so heartbroken
Definitely sucks for members like Kumi that feel like they have no chance by the time the results go up to top 15 :\

...I just realized. Rumi didn't make UG this year ;_____________; I blame her agency for not making her gravure sets more public. ..And wota pirates for failing to spread said gravure sets. D:

On a more happier note, this year's senbatsu seems to be pretty reflective of the amount of pushing the members have gotten. Maybe it'll help send a message to agencies and whatnot to start pushing their girls a little more in order for them to get a higher rank in the election. 'Cuz DiVA definitely made things better for all of its members.

And everything went better than expected :cokecat:

It's great Acchan & Yuko can share the top <3 Yuki finishing 3rd is a (very welcome) surprise. I'm thrilled for Mayu. I was worried for a little bit, but 5th is very respectable.

SASSY TOP TEN. Just wish Kitahara has finished in Media too. The number of votes total is crazy. Top 5 picked up 456,644 votes alone

I'm pretty happy with the results. Much of what I wished for came to pass. Shawako did great, just four votes shy of beating Komori. :thumbsup Suda Akari getting in, also great. Akane did AWEEEEESOMEEEEEE. 11k votes and #2 in Undergirls. That's great! Sasshi in top 10 was expected, but I'm still glad to see it. Really glad to see Rena us the top SKE girl. Not knocking on Jurina, I love her as well, but Rena deserves it. It would have been cooler to see both of them next to each other again, though. Acchan getting #1, I expected. I was really rooting for Yuko cause she rocks, but as she said, Acchan is the face of AKB so what're ya gonna do. Yukirin getting up to #3 is simply badass. Love it! Glad to see Yui made the top 20, even if it means being in the back of the senbatsu.

Good stuff overall. Can't wait to see what this single will have in store.

I woke up just a little while ago, and came to this thread.  Man, I've got some serious mixed emotions right now.  I'll wait till later (after I've collected my thoughts) to post more on the election, but I will say this:  I really, really want to give Tomochin a great big hug right now.

Maeda Atsuko reclaims #1 in AKB48′s 3rd Senbatsu Election

AKB48 held its 3rd Senbatsu election on Thursday, determining the participating members for AKB48′s 22nd single. This year, the #1 spot was recaptured by Maeda Atsuko, after being narrowly defeated by Oshima Yuko last year.

As expected, this year’s election dwarfed last year’s, with a total vote count of more than 1 million votes. The top 40 members received a combined 1.08 million votes, compared to 354,000 for last year’s top 40. Maeda beat Oshima by a margin of approximately 17,000 votes – 139,892 to 122,843. In 2010, Oshima surpassed Maeda by less than 600 votes – 31,448 to 30,851.

Kashiwagi Yuki took #3, up five spots from last year. Sashihara Rino climbed 10 spots to #9. Umeda Ayaka and Takayanagi Akane also took big leaps in the rankings, though they fell just short of the cut between the Senbatsu members and the under girls.

150 members were eligible for this year’s election, making it highly competitive. Like the last time, the top 12 are appointed as the “Media Senbatsu” (for promoting the new single) and the top 21 will participate on the single’s title track. #22 through #40 are the “under girls,” who will be included on the single’s various B-sides.

The single does not yet have a title, but it is scheduled for release on August 24, 2011.

The complete election rankings are listed below with vote counts. Ranking changes from last year are in parentheses.

Gekikara Rena ROCKS!!

Takamina and Takayanagi are indeed really kickass leader in their own speech...

Btw, since Rena is 10th and Sae is 11th, guess we'll see a lot of SaeRena these following days

What can I say? I'm happy for everyone.

I'm happy Sayaka made it to senbatsu but at the same time I don't like the fact she's doomed to not appear on the PV not TV shows. So... It's like a bittersweet feeling.

I thought Sau would rank higher so I'm kind of disappointed because I failed my prediction, but I'm still glad she made it to media

My babies are the best :inlove:

And pls, AKB wotas, more Takamina love next year, pls. :smhid

Some of the suprising jumps:
- When on earth did Yukirin get so many fans. I honestly thought either 'Super-active Tomochin' or 'All your fanbase are belong to Mayuyu' was going to be 3rd in the end. Compared to Yuki really not doing much different from the year before, except maybe French Kiss. Guess she really does have a lot of ninja fans. On the bright side, still waiting for 2009 #1 PB girl to get her 2nd PB here~ :hand:
- A wota is beating all the idols.
- Kenkyusei jumping in like crazy. Yeah, Team 4 {hehehe}. Heck, I still think of Yui as a Kenkyusei. Good job Ariyoshi. :thumbsup Wish Yui dropped a few spots and joined Undergirls
- And did Churi grow wings or something? :w00t:

Awww, Harugon didn't make Senbatsu :(
Yay for Akicha who did well :D
I'm pleased for both Acchan and Yuko ... their speeches made me weep (heh, I was sitting at work watching them too :-/ )

I HATE ELECTION

Ratio between this year and last year
Atsuko  4.48
Yuko 3.96
Yuki 4.82

Rino 6.75

Woah! Sashihara Quality.

CDJapan congratulates Atsuko Maeda, who emerged as the winner of the AKB48 Senbatsu Sousenkyo, the general election in which the most popular members of group were determined by a popular vote of fans on June 9, 2011!

I did some quick math  XD

Battle of the sub-units

Not Yet

Yokoyama Yui – 16455
Kitahara Rie – 27957
Sashihara Rino – 45227
Oshima Yuko – 122843

Total Votes: 212482
Member average: 53121
Ranking average: 11th

Watarirouka Hashiritai (original line-up)
Hirajima Natsumi – 9742
Oota Aika – 9910
Nakagawa Haruka – 10854
Watanabe Mayu – 59118

Total Votes: 89624
Member average: 22406
Ranking average: 20th

French Kiss
Kuramochi Asuka – 12387
Takajo Aki  – 31009
Kashiwagi Yuki – 74252

Total Votes: 117648
Member average: 39216
Ranking average: 12th

DiVa
Umeda Ayaka – 11860
Masuda Yuka – 14137
Akimoto Sayaka – 17154
Miyazawa Sae – 33500

Total Votes: 76651
Member average: 19163
Ranking average: 18th

No Sleeves
Minegishi Minami – 26070
Takahashi Minami – 52790
Kojima Haruna – 52920

Total Votes: 131780
Member average: 43927
Ranking average: 9th

Awards:
Highest points total: Not Yet
Highest member average: Not Yet
Highest average ranking: No Sleeves

These figures follow more or less the same line as the cd sales. Not Yet is the hottest unit and Yuko plays a big part in their success.

DiVa's individual members are more popular than most of WH, but Mayuyu power still gives them higher voting averages.

Probably because the 'code' tag ignores Unicode characters? In any case, '¥' is typed with '\' on the keyboard, which may be the reason behind it.

And holy rich wotas. :panic: Though it's probably not accurate, since buying the single wasn't the only method of obtaining a voting ticket.

Wished Yuko would be top again , damn sad that didn't come true. What surprised me even further is that Sae didn't make top ten! And Sayaka also getting only 17 :(
But I am wondering whether a a full video download/torrent would be released for the senbatsu 2011??

^Those were only 20 minutes iirc, but the whole thing was released on AKB48 DVD Magazine Volume 1 (IIRC).

So far, the Ariyoshi special showed the most footage, so definitely check that out. Secondly, I bet the whole thing will be on another DVD mag, but no official word or time frame on that release yet.

^ Actually, Volume 1 was the 2009 election results.  Volume 4 was the one for 2010.

But yeah, I'd be surprised if these results didn't show up on a future volume.
