About the group

D-Unit is a female hip-hop group under D-Business Entertainment. The company's CEO Lee Young Hak--going by the name "DM" as part of a rap duo known as "YMGA"--released an album in 2008 called "Made In R.O.K" under YG Entertainment. D-Unit is being billed as Lee Young Hak's brainchild. The company is reported to have spent years preparing the group for their debut. Early on, there was speculation that the group had been set up so that there are two permanent members and an additional third member that is set to change with every album. The original lineup of 3 included Jeon Woo Ram (RAM) and Kwang Su Jin (ZIN) as the "permanent members", and Jung Yoojin (UJin) as the one temporary. Since their debut, however, they have stuck with the three original members, while mentioning that there are various trainees that may be added at a later time. In February 2013, D-Business announced the addition of a new member, who turned out to be Janey (stylized as Jney) of GP Basic fame.

Over all looks interesting...I must say, South Korea record companies should be happy, this is like a good summer for them. New groups, New release from older groups - and let's not forget the drama with T-ara.

The song sounds good from the teasers. I'm glad they finally set a date; I usually don't get too hyped for new debuts but I have high hopes for them. The rotating member thing is a pretty original idea for Kpop, it should make for a lot more anticipation surrounding their comebacks.

Wooram is so cute.

I'm really liking how "I'm Missing You" is sounding so far, Wooram is pretty cute though she does look like she could kick some ass. :lol:

Hopefully the "2NE1 copiers!!11" comments won't be as much.

Yea I'm liking "I'm Missing You" so far as well. It does sound 2NE1-ish but the producer for that song I believe for that song IS Teddy Park. So it's more Teddy's style more than it is 2NE1.

I'm digging this. alot. Especially that acoustic cover. Seems like the girls can sing and I finally have Jeon family member I can obsess about again (</3 Boram </3)

in regards to the 2ne1 copiers comments.. lets not mince words here, there aren't any wholly original idea's left in pop music and that's nothing pop should be ashamed of. we all got our swagger from those around us.

Sounds pretty good, for a debut song though it doesn't leave a big impression but still nice. Choreography is pretty cool.

EDIT:

Just now read the temporary member switch and well, that's interesting. At least the tell you about it instead of springing on anyone at the last moment.

Ok, so I was right about the 2 permanent/1 temp member lineup. Recent articles haven't mentioned that, it makes me wonder what happens to the temp member afterwards? I like the song, very YG-ish. In fact, I even heard that it was originally supposed to be a Big Bang song. While I was watching the MV I can almost tell which parts of the song was supposed to be sung by which BB member. RAM is cute! (obviously cuz Boram is cute too :P) I just can't get over the fact that she looks exactly like Boram and how I wished so many times Boram would be a lot like this in T-ara.

I think they'll do well on their own, right now they get an extra boost for being associated with YG people, but they look like they can stand on their own. Esp. when they have an active role in their music making such as writing and composing, definitely a big plus for me.  :twothumbs Can't wait to see more of them!

Yeah, most of what I've been seeing is "LOL FAKE CL FAKE DARA AND FAKE BOM D:", but most people seem generally positive about them while acknowledging that everything about them seems very YG.

Wooram looking so much like Boram is incredibly amusing to me XD. The way she acts in the videos and stuff is so left field from the kinda stuff Boram does with T-ara that it just entertains the hell out of me :lol:

And I actually dig the over the top "bad-ass" style they have going, and I especially dig the admittedly goofy dance moves. Something about the cheesiness of the spiked bats and fake tattoo sleeves is kinda endearing to me, lmao.

I will completely agree that the music is what's really making me like them more and more, though. The first album was damn good and so far this single is holding up pretty well for me. I just hope they find legit success and eventually develop an identity that's more their own, specifically with regard to the whole bad-ass punk thing :P

Also, I really hope they don't remove any of these 3  XD

D-Unit is definitely one of the better kpop groups out there right now.  I'm impressed with the management behind their debut - this is where most rookie groups fail.  I just hope they can nail down a particular style and stick with it.  So far so good.

and tbh that's AWESOME. I wasn't big into GP Basic or anything, but like storyboard said, she gets her swag aaawwwwwn, and it's nice to see someone I'm [sorta] familiar with. Also nice to see her dreams didn't drown, that's always cool too. But, all these 15 year olds, man...I feel my youth slipping away :(

With that close-up of her eyes and eyebrows, they look veeery similar to Janeys...hmm

If it indeed is Janey, this could just be a one time deal because it's going back to D-Units original concept of having a rotational member. So she can still be part of GP Basic, but she's just being featured in this album. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!!

So, I fucking love "Talk to My Face", or whatever the hell the translation is. I'm still not too crazy about Stay Alive, but I'm really liking the album as a whole. Had to make sure I made time to listen to it, to avoid FTG harassing me, but it was definitely worth it. I don't know about you guys, but I'd say everything they've put out is somewhere in the range from solid to amazing. D-Unit <3
