I'm going to start with the 1 person I dislike the most. Paruru. I think she will definitively break into Kami 7 and possibly go way up to 4th place. Her rise will be way more stunning than Sasshi. Management and Burning Pro have been promoting her to the hilt (think popcorn boxes).
Last year 4th place in the rankings went to Sasshi. I think she will fall this year but not by much - she will likely remain in the top 10.

02. Oshima Yuko
01. Kashiwagi Yuki
02. Oshima Yuko
01. Kashiwagi Yuki
If this happens, I don't think anything else will surprise me anymore
I'm going to disagree with this. I don't see Paru breaking into Kami 7 and in fact, not even Top 10. Jurina has enjoyed a lot of push by the management way before Paru, yet she has never once managed to reach Kami 7 status. Paru would have to beat WMatsui before she could breathe the same air as the godly seven and I don't think her popularity is anywhere near either of them.
Personally I think the competition would be a lot fiercer if Yuko took a pass for this year, and you could probably argue that the resulting publicity far outweighs that of her being top (again)
Do you honestly think so? At this point and how much Paruru gets exposure on her own, I think it's safe to say she's one of the most recognizable AKB48 members ever.

Remember when there was an SKE & an NMB single just few weeks prior to the sousenkyou single? I always have a thought, what will happen if the sister groups singles also include sousenkyou votes? It seems to make much more sense for a fan to purchase 3~4 types per singles to amass like 9~12 different types for all the AKB, SKE, & NMB singles. Does it make financial sense to do so? It might make some fans purchase more singles in total, as some fans might only plan to buy 3 AKB singles to vote now might wanna increase their haul to 9 or more. But it might make some fans purchase less, as they might plan to buy the SKE/NMB singles anyways & can now purchase less AKB singles to achieve the same voting power.
Also, what about the sub-units publishing in the mix of the vote? Was it suicidal bleeding of fans' voting power? Or is it actually still invaluable exposure to up the vote?
Also, data is rather useful in helping us predict sousenkyou results, no?
Than it make sense to compile some data!

SOUSENKYO NEWS!WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! :shocked :shocked :shocked
You better sit down for this one.
The system is changing. They're going to basically make it so you have to register to be in the sousenkyo. Registration is from 31st March to 7th April. There are 3 conditions that make you eligible to apply to enter the sousenkyo:
1. If you are a current member
2. If you are an ex-AKB transferee (Sae, Mariya, Akicha, Harugon)
3. If you have been in AKB for a period of 4 years or longer
Condition #3 is very interesting. Because that also means that certain graduates can apply, unless there's some twist that I'm not getting.

Does this mean I can finally vote for Togasaki?
It's an interesting way of letting the older girls bow out without having it be a huge deal. But at the same time, one wonders why they included option 3 at all.Does this mean...my Sayaka-chan will be able to get in the senbatsu again? :cathappy: :deco:

そ、AKB総選挙に立候補できるの(;゜∇゜)?!
@yukoriyukori え!ゆこりするの?(笑)立候補するなら…今でしょ!!!
Yuka Masuda definitely one of the most underutilized, talented members, should participate! She's got a lot of stuff lined up for her in the coming months (musical, her own show), so even if she wanted to, she probably wouldn't have the time for this.
Noteworthy participation updates:- Yamamoto Sayaka has stated on G+ (https://plus.google.com/101423472932208115437/posts/iTnsz2NPZ6j) that she will take part
- Yonezawa Rumi has tweeted (https://t.co/fcBvU8Q3TS) she will not be participating
- Ono Erena has tweeted (http://t.co/EYBYmd5Mee) she will not be participating
- After what she said last year, Shinoda Mariko has tweeted (https://twitter.com/mariko_dayo/status/316681250846953475) she is definitely taking part this year
Really though, there probably won't be that much of a change.
Otherwise, I don't really see much change caused from the new rules.

I honestly can't believe how anyone could say this won't change much. This new system changes everything. It changes the entire game.I don't know about Boykun, but I only meant there won't be much change in the end results even with these rules in place. Course, it's all just a guess.
I honestly can't believe how anyone could say this won't change much. This new system changes everything. It changes the entire game.
Like Data said, even if Sashihara or whoever wins this election, the victory will be incredibly shallow if not everybody participates.
The election will lose all authenticity. I know it's all for fun and entertainment, so I don't want to take it too seriously...
but if I have to spend money on CDs for voting tickets then I don't want it to be for an election that's this manipulated and essentially meaningless.
If the girls have any actual say in all this, they should make some sort of pact and ALL participate. Everybody. Especially Yuko.
You yourself said, any girl who doesn't participate might as well quit. And everyone (Japanese and overseas) has been saying the same thing, anyone who doesn't participate is spitting in the fans' faces. It's pretty evident that anyone who's even remotely cognizant of their position of an idol would never do something like that.
What authenticity does the election lose if no one drops out?
Or what will it lose if someone like Yuko decides not to participate (with good reason, imo)?
Personally I feel like the older girls should go out of the running because believing what Mariko says seems really naive to me. Even if the strongest of the newbloods came up to Mariko with murderous intent, she'd not so much scratch her, because everyone knows how hard it is to break the hold that the older members have on the Japanese public's conception of 'AKB'.
I don't think it's right to say she won a hollow victory simply because Yuko didn't participate. She still overcame literally 200 other people and the collective voting might of fans who have renewed hopes of bringing their girl to the top as a result of Yuko retiring.

That's exactly the point. That's what makes it exciting and can turn girls into superstars. The old girls are the faces of the group, they made AKB48. They don't need to give up their spot because the newer girls aren't of the same stature yet. Success stories like Umechan making top 16, Sasshi beating Haruna, etc. would have never been possible if they hadn't all participated.

Tomomi Itano runs for election !
Tomomi Itano runs for election !
So... if this is true my votes didn't count last year which sucks 'cos I bought the singles only to get the voting tickets :tama-mad:
For those intending to vote from overseas in the AKB election: A fan from HK apparently asked Togasaki at handshakes today if votes with an overseas IP will be counted.. and he confirmed that the answer is no, even if the page says that you’ve voted.
If you’re buying CDs/codes and intending to vote, make sure you use a Japanese proxy or VPN when you do so, just in case.
Just got another report in. My all-powerful TList got someone else also present at the handshake right now to go confirm/deny the previous report with Togasaki, turns out that said HK fan misunderstood. What Togasaki said was that there’s no voting site apart from the Japanese voting site, but that it’s perfectly fine to vote from overseas.
(That said, a lot of my TList are gonna use VPN/Proxies just in case.)

no NACCHAN!!! the 26th curse might be broken :(
There's only a 1000 vote difference between 42nd and 64th place.
More HKT members ranked than NMB members (9 to 6 if my counting is accurate)
Sasshi getting prelim #1 with such a heavy lead - To put it really bluntly, I just lost a little faith in humanity. :huhuh
Sashihara Rino: She is quick, funny, cute.. everything you want in your idol. When someone spoke Japanese her eyes pop out in true Yukirin fashion. Plus she did a bit of her wota dance. Awesome awesome girl!

THIS really.. :banghead:
- It's very interesting that Iriyama Anna ranks quite high, while girls like Juri, Nagao and Ranran are nowhere to be found.Answer is simple enough. It's because Nishishi approves

would the election proper on June 8 be broadcast live via youtube?
#33 Kawaei Rina
#35 Muto Tomu
- Umemoto Madoka... why now? Doesn't make much sense. Maybe because she lost her captain title?
- Shibata Aya... Super awesome, but it doesn't make any sense haha. Let's hope she can keep it up!
You might have meant quirky? :lol:Sashihara Rino: She is quick, funny, cute.. everything you want in your idol. When someone spoke Japanese her eyes pop out in true Yukirin fashion. Plus she did a bit of her wota dance. Awesome awesome girl!
That was no fluke. She continues capturing the hearts of many, many fans for years to come. She may not get #1, but a top #3 should definitely be possible.
edit: did I actually wrote "quick" ? wtf did I mean... lol
So I've been doing some simple number crunching and based on the pre-lim results a couple of things can be said:
Senbatsu still uses up the majority of the votes and based on earlier years this portion will only increase.
30% of ranking AKB members are 9th gen or younger.
AKB has less than 50% of total votes. So together sister groups are more popular than the main branch.
If Yuko, Yukirin, Sae, Tomochin, Mariko, Takamina, and Kojiharu would graduate (aka, be deleted from the prelim data) then SKE will be the largest group. (Even if Sae's votes are counted, SKE is still the largest)
The most popular group, relatively, is HKT, with SKE coming second.
The most popular team, relatively, is HKT Team H.The only team not to have any members rank is HKT Team KII.Only the NMB Kenkyuusei have no members ranked.
The top 3 teams being able to get fans to vote for their members are: 1. HKT Team H, 2. NMB Team N, 3. AKB Team A.
Total amount of votes in the prelim are 370014.
But if trendlines are used on the last 25 girls, it can be inferred that another 120000 votes have been cast on the unranked girls, leaving about 900k votes of the first day sales unaccounted for.
Of course the data is skewed by Sasshi's huge amount of votes and a lot of her popularity came from her AKB days, but for all measures she is HKT now.
Just another fun fact, if we consider these votes to be of the first 24 hours, then Sasshi got 20 votes per minute. That's some crazy powervoting right there. Mayuyu's and Yuko's numbers (14000-15000) are consistent with the year before resulting in around 10 votes per minute. This means Sasshi either has crazy serious (and coordinated) voters, or increased her fanbase by quite a bit. Disregarding voting tactics of course.
Also, I believe there are no significant voting tactics going on so far regarding delayed voting. Last year the number of 1st day votes was 187277. This year there are 197.5% (2x) more votes: 370014.
There are less than 2x the amount of cd's sold on the first day. 1mil MnSG vs 1.4mil SayoKuro (1.4x). So everyone already seems to be in 'powervoting' mode.
This year's number 64 would've been 25th in last year's prelim results.

There were many reports that said fans who have membership in NMB48 mobile can vote several times using a certain device.
We are currently investigating about this matter.
Once we have verified that this is happening, please note that your second vote will be rendered invalid.
wwwwwww so I posted this morning about the NMB mobile mail loophole in the voting. which allows people to vote an unlimited number of times for 315 yen each vote (i.e. you keep registering a new NMB address).
Seems that other infinite vote loopholeS have since been discovered: (http://akb48matome.com/archives/51879420.html)

A small video to keep us in the election mood. I was making troll subs the past week, I actually forgot how to do real ones, hahaha.
Anyway, there are a few lines I wasn’t sure but it’s mostly correct so I rate this sub 99% “Honmayan” and 1% “Zettai uso ya wa”.

-----Under Girls line-----
http://melosnomichi.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/akb48-32nd-single-senbatsu-election_8.html (http://melosnomichi.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/akb48-32nd-single-senbatsu-election_8.html) Shinoda Mariko announced her graduation planned for the Fukuoka Dome Concert. Miyazawa Sae said she doesn't want to be concurrent in AKB48, and just remain in SNH48. |
- Nagao: I don't get it.- Even though Amina keeps dropping, at least she's center! That's good :)
- Kanon ranking up. Wonder why.- Most of the lower ranked Undergirls are exactly where I expected them to be.
- Sasshi....... I think it's kind of ironic that she's center compared to here single with Anrire :P
