Bah... Momusus's apearance on Utaban were always funny as hell.
I particularly love the old ones, when Yuu-chan was still in MM and was put down whatever she said, and Taka-san was constantly hitting on Gotsan !!! :lol:
And they did came up with the silliest games for the girls, just to decide who'll sit at the table with the hosts, and who would sit in the back !!! :D

And it's been a great venue for rika to pursue her love for chickens, as when she had to obtain the eggs to make ice cream with country musume.

it used to be i liked HEYx3 alot.. then i started catching up on the episodes MM went on utaban.. from then on it became utaban... what with all the weirdass references & crappy games + stupid fun all around, its a wonder they are still around after ~10 years.. not that i don't look forward to it..
this wk's utaban with H!P'05 was so crappy... i think i almost shit myself laughing. the dogdeball... so memorable & despicable at the same time... especially where taka finally hits somebody with the ball he kicks off... & runs off like he juz hit a miracle goal...

Good to see more Kemeko and Yuko moments on the Shuffles 2005 Utaban...didn't Kaori look a little too spaced out tho?? The new episode was alright - at least longer than usual.
The thing I like about Utaban is that it's 2 guys who act out our most devilish fantasies on the H!P girls. The abuse we wish to inflict on them. Who wouldn't want to throw a ball at them and make them scream!??
And the talk segements "makes or breaks" you. You want to be teased by the hosts. It's the perfect chance to stand out. She who gets the most lip service from the hosts gains the most.
So check out Elegies. Shibata gets IT. The setup: something like "Are these the new MKB members?" and Shibata quickly denies!!

...time is scarce these days for H!P Pimpage. no more 2 episodes dedicated to em, Shibata seized the moment. Takahashi really has to step it up besides looking pretty.
Of course....the veterans get IT. The whole dodgeball game was hilarious, making Kei dance when she was the last one. Hope Viyuden gets booked!!

I've been watching Utaban ever since 2000. It's still my favorite Japanese show, although I think it lost a bit of flare over the years...probably because their H!P appearances have been kinda stale as of late. The last H!P appearance that I enjoyed a lot was the H!P All Stars one. All of the recent MM/Ayaya ones have been a borefest. It kinda annoys me too, since I KNOW Utaban could do better with them. It seems that they're half-assing all the H!P appearances now. The shuffle group interview from this year was 10 minutes at most, and they only had Puripuri Pink's performance. WTF!?
I used to watch full episodes, but nowadays I find myself just flat out skipping interviews with artists that I'm not interested in. I haven't been able to download full Utaban episodes as of late...'cause the Jpopsuki tracker hasn't been working for a few months. Would anyone happen to know a place where I can get them?

Yep, still not working for me...I don't think I was banned, because a few others with good upload rates have also had trouble accessing the tracker. It might be my ISP. BOOOOOOO!!

weirdness... :? it works super fine for me... i've read in the FAQ that they banned some standarts p2p ports from connecting to their tracker...
You may try their forum or their IRC channel if you want to reach Mulux !!! :wink:

OF COURSE I believe that. Why wouldn't I? The format of each Utaban taping isn't up to the hosts, you know...they have writers that basically tell them what to talk about in each episode. That's why they have their daihon's with them. They have to stay within the time gap they're given, which is why some Morning Musume appearances are edited a bit to fill the time gap.
I wouldn't be surprised if Takaaki asked to have a special episode for Kaori...perhaps the writers disagreed? The MM appearances have been lackluster for the past few years anyhow, so I'm sure the writers felt that a graduation special for Kaori wasn't needed. Although, they had one for Kei two years ago...but seeing all the hell they put her through, I think she certainly deserved one. Of course Kaori got just as much hell in the earlier days, but that was quite awhile ago. Now she's pretty quiet whenever she appears on Utaban. It seems the hosts no longer focus on her (I'm sure it's the writers that tell them who to focus on).

Well, I believe Takaaki was telling the honest truth...mostly because he broke out of character, and was nothing like his usual TV persona. I'm wouldn't be surprised if Takaaki and Kaori have a good relationship off the camera. :D
I remember one Utaban episode where after they stopped taping, Takaaki walked up to all the MM members and shook their hands. He seemed really nice, and didn't act like his usual self.

I suspect taka is really sweet to all of them in reality and that's how he gets away with what he does. (Similarly with monkeyboy okamura from mechaike.)
Kei's farewell kinda captured both aspects of it.

Yep, something like that. She said Takaaki acted like a "father" to MM, and supported them by attending some of their concerts. She couldn't think of anything for Nakai, so he got pissed. :lol:

Another thing about Utaban is that appearances are scheduled based on how well an artist's last single sold. So, if you have blockbuster sales, like for Love Machine, then you'll an hour long special with massive sets. But if your sales start sinking, like the recent Momusu, then you'll get shorter segments with less than spectacular themes. Kaori probably didn't get a graduation ceremony because the producers felt that Momusu's recent sales didn't warrant one. This is also shown in this year's shuffle appearance. After the flop of last year's H!P All Stars they only got about 15 min and only one group could perform. It's not really fair, but it's a way for Utaban to maximize their profits.

Yikes! Half as many appearances and shorter, so maybe a quarter or maybe a third of last year's air time?
Even the dodgeball episode seemed to go by really quick. I bet taka and nakai are a bit frustrated because mm make good guests when the resources are there. Much worse would be if they've lost their enthusiasm.

Yeah, and there were references to thirty minutes so a lot wound up on the cutting room floor. It felt rushed due to the editing, and even startied with them seated rather than making an entrance. (Haven't seen any of the rest of the episode, but maybe they just overbooked this time?)
Thought I noticed ai's voice during the performance of their single - she had a very mature, full sound.

and for osaka koi no uta, the music fighter version was longer than the super short utaban version..... we got the short iroppoi jirettai on utaban too.... hopefully MF's will be longer? and with as cool a set as before.

The piano sensei probably used up most of their alloted time (which he said was 30 min.) to teach the girls how to play their parts of the song on the instruments that he brought, then in post they just edited those parts out, resulting in the "short" talk time. It would have been hella-ass boring if we would have had to have sat through all that (we all would have complained about it).
Anyways, I couldn't have but smile when Nakai was playing that pianica on the floor and the girls were saying how cute he was doing it.

Looks like there where 5 setups:
1) ex-members behind the desk
2) current and ex-members 'together'
3) ex-members with Nacchi in the back row
4) ex-members with Nacchi in the front row
5) the 'backlighted' thing (I have the impression that they went on after the 'official' time including some extra comments while they where taking of there mic's)

If I had to guess, I'd say Yossi and Koharu are two of those three.
Yossi, because she still had a taste of the Golden Era and Koharu because she is the new one. She just joined, so I don't think she's already regretting her decision.
The third one is harder, though.
I'd eliminate Miki (duh!) and Ai-chan ... so, maybe Eri or Makoto or maybe Sayumi??

Hmmmm I'd say Risa... She's so obviously loved Morning Musume with all her heart... On the other hand she had to take a lot of crap when she just joined... But she got through that, right? o_O

yeah there should be a thread made for the guesses of who they would be, im guessing koharu yossie and risa. risa's the only iffy one, but she's the only one i see lately that truely enjoys all the little bs things they do. btw utaban rules, its a shame that morning musume doesnt get more time lately but I think its just cause nakai and taka can't really get anything out of the current members. its going to be alot worse especially after ogawa leaves cause she was like a fledgling yasuda lol.

i love to watch utaban as well, one of the funniest talk-music show in the world as i see it. i started off watching their H!P guests and then just generally watching them with any other guests. i love HPS, xmorfis and aokunai for uploading the subbed episode, and i do love H!P and their talks, it justs...i hope i can see other utaban episodes getting subs even without the H!P. and veoh and youtube doesn't seem to have a lot of utaban episode like it's use to so now i don't know where i can find both the latest and old episode of utaban now.
btw. i heard something funny happen on the March 8, 2007 episode with Utada hikaru giving a message to leah dizon and she accidently hit her head on the glass table. maybe they didn't show that on tv but i would still love to watch that episode, if anyone knows where i can find that and other utaban episodes as well, please do help. thanks in advance.

hehe glad you mentioned that episode. Well, Hikki was actually set-up by her own producers and co-hosts on the show. Since Utada Hikaru is also a fan of Leah (wow!) her co-hosts told her to give Leah a message in english and Hikki upon facing the camera - started giving a message how much she liked Leah and stuff..
all the while was that Leah was behind her and everybody else including the audience were mum about it till Leah said "arigato gozaimasu"
Hikki yelled out loud and started banging her head on the table. funny stuff.. she got owned (^_^)

Utaban is so bad it's good. Subbed episodes are most easy to watch.
The old Morning Musume was fun to see at utaban. Like the stop motion game where iida kaori always stops in a stupid pose XD
It's also easy to learn about other artist then those from H!P.

There are a lot of GOOD MM and H!P Moments at UTABAN
Currently I was seeing one with the other groups: MiniMoni and Zyx (is the spelling correct?)
- Those KIDS can really scream XD
- TsujiKago Insanity is the way to go :on lol:
- Yaguchi inside a locker and Nakai given it a go :heart:
- Taka-san doing the monimoni dances :rofl:
- etc, etc, etc, etcf, etc ...

When utaban stopped having morning musume or members of hello project over I died inside. Is hello project banned or something. The last couple of episodes with morning musume were boring, but they could send over Nacchi or Berryz. Did Berryz Koubou or C-ute ever appear on utaban. I miss this show!!!!!!!!! What happened?

I didn't know there was a thread for this show...I need to check in this forum more often. :lol:
This show played a huge part in getting me interested in H!P, especially those early episodes where Ishibashi was really trying to turn the Momusu girls against each other with the constant favoritism and the confession boxes. But my favorite episodes are the ones from around 2002-2003: the birth of "Tettekete", the "Maji de dejima" game, Mikitty's "training" for Momusu, Ayaya vs. "Tayaya", Yasuda's "wedding", dakiwakare on Yaguchi...there have been so many times when I scared my roommates with how loud I was laughing. It's just a shame how things slowly went downhill for H!P on that show after those years, though they still had their moments.
Obviously the show is about more than just H!P...they even laugh it up with Bon Jovi:

Morning Musume's gonna be on next week's episode, so look out for that. They'll also be joined by Abe, Yasuda, and Tsuji (who was on the show last year). Berryz and C-ute did have their own appearances on the show, but only one talk appearance for each group (Berryz had two total appearances, the latter being music performance only).

So apparently Utaban is no more. There was a 3 hour special episode on the 23rd looking back at the show's history. Unfortunately I can't seem to find any clips, but Hello!Online has the MM OG segment on their tracker.
It is, however, being replaced by (or perhaps reformatted as) "The Music Hour" next month, with Ishibashi and Nakai continuing their hosting duties. Here's the most substantial info I could find on it, and it's all in Japanese. The final episode was three hours long, and it showed the summary of its 14 year-run, including battles between one of the MC, Nakai Masahiro, and featured guests (particularly the famous battle with Ohno Satoshi of Arashi).
Many artists who have made appearances on the program submitted message videos; other musicians, such as Every Little Thing, SPEED, and the original Morning Musume showed up to say farewell to the show."
