That's the third time this year. As a native California- I am not surprised!
California is currently experiencing a drought. We have extremely dry conditions & with sudden weather changes, we are getting lightning strikes that are causing most of the fires you are hearing about over the news.
We have houses where they should not be within the forest & wildland areas. Many locations have not been cleared due to the environmentalists who want everything to be left in a natural "as-is" state.
We have heavy DENSE brush that has been growing for 40 years in some areas of the state. These areas cannot be reached by road or on foot, so they are being left to burn themselves out (hopefully), while the firefighters concentrate on saving structures & historical monuments.
We have a big mess on our hands & our Governor has stated that we no longer have a fire season, because it is now a year-round job to keep our state protected from fire after fire after fire!
Sadly, SOME of these fires are man made.
Some people are saying this a a part of global warming. I have my own theories & they involve other countries manipulating weather & nuclear devices in an attempt to destroy the US one state at a time! Since I have no solid proof of any such thing, then it just sounds like another crazy conspiracy theory, does it not?
Lack of rain sounds so much better.
