The stampede erupted Tuesday when a crowd estimated at 5,500 showed up at the Richmond International Raceway to purchase 1,000 used Apple iBook laptop computers. Woman urinated on herself for a 50 dollar computer. rather than give up her spot in line. Elderly man thrown to the ground. One nutcase try to drive her car through a throng of people.

Isn't the price of human diginity and the health of others worth more than 50 bucks?

When places here do that sort of thing, they usually go down the line and hand the first 50 (or whatever) people numbers so there's no rush and no uncertainty.

Hey I might 'join' when I buy one of those 'little' Mac's, but even with my monthly spending budget I haven't found a reason to do it... to many bugfixes currently needed for OS X.

I guess the worth of the iBook was much more than $50 dollar price, so she actually urinated for a much greater value. Throwing old people to the ground is not good though

$50 for an iBook, eh? Hmmmmmmmm. Well, depends on how old the machines are, I guess. I'm betting that all those people were probably looking/needing to get them for school (either for themselves or for their kids) and chances are they weren't exactly "well-off". If that was the case, and it was MY kid, I'd probably sacrifice a little dignity for it.
