Manatsu Panic: Chapter 2Manatsu hurriedly straightened her clothes before rushing back to the classroom.
I can’t believe I went to sleep! Manatsu thought, slowly opening to door and walking into the class.
“Mukaida-san, I know it’s your first day here, but try to be on time, okay?” Kojiharu said.
“Yes, I’m sorry…” Manatsu blushed as she sat in her seat.
After a couple more classes, school ended. Manatsu was putting her things in her bag when Yuria came up to her.
“I’m sorry about earlier, Mukaida-san,” Yuria asked.
“Eh?” Manatsu asked.
“I made you late for class,” Yuria said.
“It’s not your fault at all, Kizaki-san. It’s mine for falling asleep,” Manatsu said.
“Manatsu-san, let’s go,” Anna said, who was watching their conversation.
“Okay. I’ll see you later, Kizaki-san,” Manatsu said.
“Yuria is fine,” Yuria said before getting her own bag.
“Then call me Manatsu,” Manatsu said before getting pulled by Anna.
“Come on~,” Anna said as she pulled to Manatsu to their dorm.
“What’s gotten into Anna?” Risako asked.
“I wonder…” Yuria said, tilting her head.
Once they reached their dorm, Manatsu dropped her bag on her bed before sitting down.
“What’s with you all of a sudden, Annya-san?” Manatsu asked.
“What was that with Yuria right then?” Anna asked.
“I just ran into her during the free period,” Manatsu said.
“She has a girlfriend, you know,” Anna said.
Of course you know, Manatsu thought. “I know. I met Yagami-san, too.”
“Eh, they were together during free period? That means Kumi-san was skipping already!” Anna said.
“You mean she skips class to be with Yuria-san?” Manatsu asked.
“Sometimes…” Anna said before searching through her dresser for a change of clothes. “But Manatsu-san sure is getting popular.”
“What do you mean?” Manatsu asked.
“You just got here and Churi-san and Jurina are both interested in you,” Anna said.
“Wait. Interested?” Manatsu asked.
“Yeah, I mean they’re really popular themselves,” Anna said as she started undressing.
Manatsu blushed and turned away. “I don’t care much about popularity.”
“Even if you don’t ask for it, it’s not your choice,” Anna said, noticing that Manatsu had turned away from her. “I’m done changing. You shouldn’t be embarrassed since we’re both girls.”
“I was just surprised,” Manatsu said.
“Manatsu-san is cute,” Anna said, sitting beside her.
“I’ve been told that a lot, but I’ve always thought of myself as average,” Manatsu said.
“No way! You’re really pretty!” Anna said, making Manatsu blush.
“Thank you,” Manatsu said.
“Change out of your uniform, too, and come with me,” Anna said.
“To where?” Manatsu asked.
“A school tour!” Anna said.
“Ehhh?” Manatsu said as she got off her bed.
“It would do you some good since you keep getting lost,” Anna said.
“Well, excuse me for being new here,” Manatsu said as she changed into regular clothes.
“Hey, did anything happen when Gorisa and I left you and Jurina?”
“We just talked a little. That kiss was…” Manatsu thought back on the kiss. She didn’t know how good it was supposed to feel, but it felt good.
“Manatsu~, if you blush anymore today, you’ll turn into a strawberry,” Anna said as she got up and faced Manatsu. “Jurina was right. You would have tried to stop her if you didn’t want to, but you didn’t, because you liked it.”
“So what if I did? Even if I did like Jurina-san, I’d have to get to know her better,” Manatsu said.
“So you liked the kiss?” Anna asked.
“I’m not answering you. What about that tour?” Manatsu asked as she went to the door.
“First name basis now, too, huh? Though making out with her should have come second,” Anna said.
“Annya!” Manatsu said.
“But you were totally making out with her. There were two witnesses,” Anna said as they went out the door.
“Fine, we were, but please don’t make much of it,” Manatsu said. “After all, Jurina-san likes Rena-san.”
“Ah, that’s a good idea!” Anna said.
“Eh, what is?” Manatsu asked.
“Since you’ve met all the other tops, Rena-san should be next!” Anna said, taking Manatsu’s hand and pulling her to the E school.
“Ehhh?” All Manatsu wanted was to go back to sleep.
In the E school, Matsui Rena, a 3rd year, roomed with 2nd year, Azuma Rion. Anna knocked on their door and waited for someone to come.
“Maybe they’re in club activities?” Anna asked to herself mainly as she turned the doorknob. “It’s locked.”
“Can we go back now?” Manatsu asked.
“No, I can figure out where Rena-san is,” Anna said, pulling out her phone.
“You don’t have to go through this,” Manatsu sighed as she folded arms. Looking around the corner, she noticed a girl peeking at them. “W-What?”
Since the girl was caught, she walked straight up to Manatsu. “Who the heck are you?”
“So rude!” Manatsu said, surprised that a girl so cute would talk like that.
Anna looked up from her phone and frowned. “Hey, Naru-chan, that’s no way to talk to an upperclassman!”
“I’m not talking to you, Anna-san. I’m not talking this girl who I’ve never seen before,” Ichino Narumi said.
“I’m Mukaida Manatsu. I’m new here,” Manatsu said.
“Hm… in the S school?” Narumi asked.
“Yes…” Manatsu said.
“I see! See you later, Mukaida-senpai!” Narumi said before running off.
“Hey, you didn’t say bye to me!” Anna complained.
“Who was she?” Manatsu asked.
“Ichino Narumi, a 2nd year in middle school. She’s a little brat~!” Anna said.
“Eh, even though she’s so cute and young,” Manatsu said, wanting to know more about her.
“Well, don’t let that fool you. Ah, Rena-san’s in the student council room. Let’s go!” Anna said as she grabbed Manatsu’s hand and pulled her.
“We’re running again~?” Manatsu asked.
In the student council room, class representatives from each school were there in a meeting. Outside, Manatsu and Anna were trying look in through the windows of the doors.
“There’s Rena-san!” Anna whispered.
“Eh… she’s really pretty,” Manatsu said.
“Right? Ah, there’s Jurina and Churi-san, too,” Anna said.
“Jurina-san’s a class representative?” Manatsu asked.
“Yeah. It’s not even just because a lot of girls like her. She gets good grades,” Anna said.
“Really?” Manatsu asked, forgetting that Rena was the reason why Anna dragged her here. “You know a lot about her, Annya.”
“She’s one of my best friends,” Anna said.
Jurina looked up and noticed Manatsu staring at her. Manatsu blushed. Jurina smirked before winking at her. Manatsu backed away from the door.
“Ooh~, flirting are we?” Anna asked as she went towards her.
“It’s just her, not me. Can we go somewhere else while we’re waiting for Rena-san?” Manatsu asked.
“Okay~,” Anna said, linking arms with Manatsu and walked with her to an empty classroom nearby.
“Thanks for not running this time,” Manatsu said as she sat a desk. Anna sat on top of a desk beside hers.
“You’re not the athletic type, huh, Manatsu?” Anna asked.
“No,” Manatsu said.
“Let’s see the council meeting should be over in a few minutes!” Anna said before hopping off the desk. “I’m going to the bathroom! I’ll be back!”
“She’s so energetic…” Manatsu said softly, looking around. The class didn’t seem to be used in a while.
I guess I’ll go to sleep until the meeting’s over, Manatsu thought, putting her head down and soon fell asleep.
Anna came back from the bathroom and sat back on the desk beside Manatsu. “You won’t be able to sleep tonight.”
Manatsu slowly opened her eyes as she woke up. “It’s part your fault I’m so tired.”
“I’m sorry, but you woke up just in time. Look!” Anna said, pointing to the door. The council members were leaving. “Come on, we have to catch Rena-san before she gets too far.”
“I get it,” Manatsu said as she followed Anna out into the hallway.
"Rena-san!" Anna called to get Rena’s attention.
Rena turned around. “Ah, Anna-chan, and this is?”
"My friend Mukaida Manatsu! She just transferred here," Anna said.
"It’s nice to meet you," Manatsu said.
"Likewise. I’m Matsui Rena," Rena said, taken aback of how cute Manatsu was.
"Matsui? Isn’t that Jurina-san’s last name?" Manatsu asked.
"You remember~," Anna said in a teasing voice causing Manatsu to blush.
"We’re not related," Rena said, with an annoyed expression.
The hallway had cleared and they were the only ones left.
"If you excuse me, I have elsewhere to be," Rena said, bowing shortly before walking away. Then she stopped and turned around and her smile returned. "It was nice meeting you, Mukaida-san."
Manatsu awkwardly smiled and nodded as Rena continued walking.
"She left… We should go, too, right?" Anna asked.
"Um, yes," Manatsu said, wondering about Rena.
"Are you okay?" Anna asked.
"Yeah, I’m fine," Manatsu said as they headed back to their room.
They had talked some more until Anna had to leave for a fashion club meeting.
"Are you sure you’ll be okay alone?" Anna asked.
"I’m not a little kid, Annya," Manatsu said.
"You’re right. I’ll be back later, Manatsu!" Anna said before leaving and that’s when Manatsu realized something.
"When did we start calling each other without honorifics?" Manatsu asked out loud.
Since she couldn’t fall back asleep, Manatsu became bored and decided to play a game on her phone.
Meanwhile, Jurina was heading to her room when she walked by Anna and Manatsu’s and slowed down.
Eh… Manatsu is Anna’s roommate? She thought.
Jurina heard noises inside, and knowing that Anna was in clubs, she figured Manatsu was there. She smirked, recalling the events at the council meeting, and decided to knock on the door.
“Coming~!” Manatsu said as she went to answer the door. “Jurina-san!”
“Hey,” Jurina said. “Can I come in?”
“Sure I guess,” Manatsu said, moving to let Jurina in the room and closed the door behind her. Manatsu stood by the door as Jurina sat on Anna’s bed.
“I’m so used to Anna’s room being empty around this time~,” Jurina said.
“Hasn’t she had a roommate at all?” Manatsu asked, walking to her own bed, but Jurina grabbed her arm, and pulled her beside her. “I was going to sit over there.”
“What’s wrong with sitting here?” Jurina asked.
“Well, nothing… anyways, answer my question!” Manatsu said, looking down at her hands.
“Okay~. Anna, she had a roommate last year. She’s my current roommate, Yagami Kumi-chan,” Jurina said.
“Yagami-san?” Manatsu asked.
“What, you already met her?” Jurina asked.
“Yeah, earlier with Yuria-san, they were…” Manatsu said.
“They were making out? Ah, or maybe doing that~?” Jurina asked in a teasing voice.
“Mou, please don’t make me say it!” Manatsu blushed.
“You’re really cute,” Jurina said. “You’ll have to forgive them though. Both of them are idiot characters after all.”
“I’ve sort of noticed,” Manatsu said.
“When Anna was going with Kumi, she didn’t skip that much…” Jurina said.
“Eh? Yagami-san and Annya was- ?” Manatsu asked.
“Ah, this is really bad! Please don’t tell Anna I told you that!” Jurina said, clasping Manatsu’s hand.
“I won’t, but why can’t I?” Manatsu asked.
“Nobody talks about them. Just promise you won’t ask her about it?” Jurina asked.
“I promise,” Manatsu said as Jurina let go of her hand.
“Thank you,” Jurina sighed. “Thank God, that was close~.”
Manatsu was really curious about what happened between Anna and Kumi’s relationship, but she promised she wouldn’t ask. “By the way, Jurina-san…”
“What?” Jurina asked.
“Why did Rena-san reject you?” Manatsu asked, causing Jurina to choke in surprise. Jurina turned away from Manatsu, her face gone red from embarrassment.
“If I tell you, will you kiss me?” Jurina asked.
