New scans of FFXIII and Versus XIII

Seems to look like images of old favourite summons, Ifrit, Shiva and Carbuncle. Also shows a potential new female character for both XIII and Versus XIII.

Looks like I was wrong about new blond haired guy being Cloud. Look closely at scan 6 and you can see he has brown eyes, not Clouds famous mako blue.

Not really related to anything, but I'd like to say that I really enjoy FFXII. I pretty much hated all the previous FF games I played, but XII is really entertaining. I like the areas, story, gameplay and characters. In some ways it even reminds me of Little Big Adventure 2, which was one of my games years ago.

^ That is kinda strange.

Areas were great, they really used every ounce that was left of the PS2. Heck, it could pass of as an early next-gen console game!
Gameplay was close to the FFXI (online MMORPG) system, which does make the game run more fluidly.

But the story and most characters are considered much less memorable, compared to the other FFs, for most gamers. And considered the weak points of this game.
Voice-work though gets an A++++  :inlove:

I like the characters. Vaan and Penelo seem more 'down to earth' than most of the characters in the previous games imo..

The game is pissing me off at the moment though.. I like the open areas like Dalmasca Estersand, Giza Plains and cities like Rabanastre, but I'm stuck in the Barheim Passage. Too difficult (for a noob like me), I keep dying.. I tried other gambit settings and stuff.. I just read online the mimicks have a substantial weakness to ice magic.. Gonna try that out tomorrow..

I have to make it past this bit, so I can hang out in Dalmasca and Rabanastre again..

edit: the blizzard attack certainly helped, but I still die every single time.. I almost made it, but I keep running low on potions. I guess I'll have to start the whole game over again and do it properly.. but I really don't feel like it at the moment.

^ I can't really remember, but are you stuck in Barheim Passage i.e. you can't exit to go to the Dalmasca Desert? If not then I can see how it's a problem. I'd recommend just taking on the monsters which you can defeat and earning some LP to spend on perhaps stronger Ice spells or Healing magic. The protect spell can help out as well if you can reach it from the board. Have Basch as the party leader and set a gambit to make him attack the nearest foe he can see. That's all I can really offer unfortunately.

I actually thought that Balthier is one of the most memorable FF characters since VII. People were so quick to dislike the story and the game itself, but I thought FFXII was exceptional. A welcome change to keep the series fresh, and I loved the world of Ivalice.

BALTHIER IS AWESOME!!!! Omfg. I haven't played FFXII myself, but my bro played it at home during the holidays and (I got a crush on Balthier) XD Yeah it seemed pretty cool. But it seems like a game that would make me freak out (because you don't just choose an option during the battle, but have to move the character yourself and stuff). T_T

Thanks for the advice Tuffty. I managed to get passed the passage, killed the mimick queen and I'm free again in Rabanstre!!  XD It wasn't that hard in retrospect, I'm just such a noob at this that I forgot to get licenses and stuff for the other characters in my party  :banghead:

i think FF vs XIII looks better than FFXIII. they're both probably going to be really good games though.

I want versus! :O

But that's probably the "emo kid" in me  as the game looks conciderably darker in style. But you can't say that the action animations weren't bad ass.

XIII looks really cool too.

Probably the most visually stunning video games I've ever seen.

Oh and speaking of FFXII, it's probably one of my favorite FF games. Too bad I never got to finish it before my ps2 got all borked -___-

Guess I'll like XIII more than vs, cos interviews with the makers described XIII will be more traditional (FFXII), while vs goes action (a la Kingdom Hearts) style.

But can't actually guess anything from some CGs, right? :D

ps3 is not worth buying without a Final Fantasy, can't wait for it to be out.  just buy both games, it does not matter which is better if u are a true hardcore fan.  It hard to tell the difference now since there is no game play previews. I just hope that there is a great love story involve like in X.

btw, does anyone know the actual date of release, I checked most game sites. Some don't have it, other just have various dates.

Oh yeah, I know that, and that's actually one of the main reasons why I want it more XD

I actually prefer Kingdom Hearts's gameplay over FF(though I found the customizations and stuff to be lacking)

As long as the story/script is written just as well, to me Versus will probably have the upper hand because the game will probably be more fun to play.

But then again details haven't really been released, so maybe the regular FFXIII will also be a blast to play.

I'll probably end up getting both since I'm a fan of the franchise.

I read in a game magazine last week. An article that quoted Toriyama/Kitase (i don't remember which one!) saying in a press conference 'that ppl should expect FF XIII coming out sooner than expected'.
But the reporter also added he thinks the chances of a 2008 release is very slim. (and considering this is the first FF in the next-gen systems, I think likewise)

In short, I don't think even the makers knows!
