Confirmed at E3, FFXIII is coming to the 360 at launch

Yay, now I don't have to shell out £200+ for the chance to play it :D

No idea about Versus XIII though.

At the SE press conference, they said Versus would not be on the 360 (yet, my words).

As for the FFXIII news. I was dissapointed that Sony did not fight to keep it exclusive, I mean FF was the reason Playstation gained such a strong foothold. Also now I feel that my PS3 is a waste of money. I mean what exclusive game is coming out that I want, nothing. All I had was MGS4. I'm pissed.

haha. was following kotaku's liveblog last night. Kinda felt it coming, when all the rest wasn't anything suprising.
And seeing the coming 2 SE RPGs all being on both platforms. I was kinda half-ready for the announcement. :P

2 things that did hit me afterwards.
1. Fans should remember, FF games have been switching consoles every 3 games.
FF1-3(Nes), FF4-6(SNES), FF7-9(PS), FF10-12 (PS2)
So the guys are just following tradition! :D

2. It's kinda a bad idea for the development side though. Just thinking how much more time they'll now need to make both formats... and think how that could've been used for cool content.  ;)
Remember Kojima saying MGS4 could've used more space. I wouldn't be suprised if Blu-ray wasn't enough for FF13 and needs disc-swapping too. So that's like a non-issue.

oooh... E3 trailer:

Favourite Game : FFVIII
Favourite Character : Squall
Favourite Song : 1000 words.. and the other one that I like in FFXII XD
Favourite Villian : Edea.. she was awesome! But I never beat her.....
Favourite FMV : FFVII : where they're dancing in a big hall
Favourite LB : ?????
Least Favourite : hmm.... Id have to say htat Seymour guy. He was fuckin gay as! Plus he was a dikchead.

And can i ask what the big deal is wiht FFVII? I mean as far as I know they were lil peopl with huge heads, not so diferent from Bratz dollz, and the story was interesting but it was really hard to play because the baddies were too good. But how come there's all this huge buzz and stuff about it, when from what I gather, having nnever played it myself, the cut scenes were not nearly as good as some of the subsequent games, such as 8. But that's just me, I don't know why people like it so much. I like the characters from what I saw in the movie, but I think cloud is a bit of a whimp, cause he skipped out on all those battles and stuff and almost went crying to his mummy..... except I don't think he has one.....

 Anyway, that's my two cents.

BTW, played the new FFVII game on psp at this comic convention and it was awesome! But it sucks how you can't skip the vids, cause I saw oone like 5 times over and over again..... because I was watching other people play too.. and although I didn't die once, I had to start over again because I had the blasted PSP attached to the big tv and I kept getting disconnected XD
I have a porcupine called zazoom, he leaves his scent on peoples' graves.

FF13 may boost sales for PS3s. If first time FF players on the 360 enjoy FF13, who knows, maybe they purchase a PS3 to play FF13 versus. There maybe some strategy behind closed doors. Either way, i'm happy 360 players can get a taste of some FF goodness. Still crossing my fingers for an FF7 remake.

You've got to remember FFVII was the first FF for the PS1 and the first RPG of it's kind to have the production values and the graphics it had, which were at the time, amazing. Almost a movie like quality to it. Sure the character models look silly now 10 or so years down the line but that holds true for a lot of games. And I think Cloud as a male lead is more accessible to non FF fans to accept. They complain that Squall was too emo, Zidane too annoying and Tidus and Vaan look far too feminine that they're afraid they'll have to question their sexuality just by looking at them  never considered Vaan the lead though, I thought FFXII just focused on the whole party instead. Besides if there's a male lead it should be Balthier, he says so himself!

Back on topic, for me it boils down to nostalgia. You know FFVII was the first game I ever seriously put the time in to play and it showed me that games could do more than just simple Mario platforming or Pac-man ball eating, it could tell a story.

Perhaps the other reason it's held in high regard is that death scene with Aerith (everyone surely knows that by now so I don't consider it a spoiler). You put the time and effort in getting to know her and use her for battle and everything and then one FMV later and she's gone completely no matter how many Phoenix Downs you throw at her or alleged cheat codes you try to find. Powerful stuff and gave you all the more reason to hate the main villan Sephiroth. no I can say I did not cry at that scene like others profess, but can admit that it struck a chord. I was only 11!

BTW, played the new FFVII game on psp at this comic convention and it was awesome! Sounds like Crisis Core to me and it's very awesome. I think you get the best of it in Hard mode where a couple of hits could mean death. Of course downside is the unskippable cut scenes as you mentioned, particularly when it leads up to boss fights. Bahumut has killed me a couple of times and I had to watch the preceding cutscene involving Zack, Angeal & Genesis for some time. Always got ready and willing though when Genesis actually summons it and the boss battle music kicks in. About 6% through in side missions, so that's probably slightly over 15 out of 300 missions done. Still a long way to go! :D

Anyone else playing FF Tactics A2?

Just really getting started but I've already clocked in a good 15 hours in to it. It's a great game. It's actually my first Strategy RPG, and don't know why I haven't tried the genre sooner. Good way to spend all your time. XD

I've played the Japanese one (cleared the main storyline and most of the quests) and clocked more than 99:99:99 on it ^.^;; I somehow bashed my way through it..
Currently playing the English version and at 51:12:35. ^.^;; 139 quests complete. It definitely helps to know what's going on in the game. XD

Got NDS FF IV. yay!~ Hey! They didn't switch the name to II this time. good job!! :D

See if I can sneak some game-time at work. It uses the japanese's hardness difficulty, so I might get into a pinch~ :w00t:

Read some reviews for it. Most of 'em seem to be half-cold receptions, saying things like there was little-to-no extra stuff added.
It's my fave FF, so I don't care. :P

New Japanese trailer for upcoming PSP battler, FF Dissidia
Gameplay - Tidus vs Jecht
Gameplay - Onion Knight vs Cloud of Darkness

Looks alright to me. Battles seem pretty fast and chaotic. The inclusion of 'Otherworld' in the battle between Tidus and Jecht in what appears to be Zanarkand is a nice touch.

Dissidia looks pretty awesome, looking forward to that. Can't say I'm too excited for Final Fantasy XIII though, can't exactly say why. Perhaps it's the setting, I prefer a more traditional, fantasy environment.

I feel the complete opposite of you. Dissidia looks like it might have an interesting fighting system, that looks heavily influenced by Kingdom Hearts and the Advent Children action scenes. But it could also turn out to be a whole lot of button mashing as you can barely make out what's happening in the game other than the character's special moves. So far it still looks like it's gonna turn out to be a mediocre game with FF references.  I doubt it would really have any appeal to anyone who's not a diehard fan of the franchise.

I have a feeling that XIII Versus' battle system is going to be something like Dissidia's.

^actually, if i'm not mistaken, when they first announced XIII and Versus XIII they said Versus would have a similar feel to Kingdom Hearts.

I played FF XII on-line when it first came out. I didn't like it much.
It was hard to tell monsters of different level apart (a leve 2 bunny looks just like a level 10 bunny)
When you die you lose XP. And can actually Level Down (lose a level)
Trying to change classes was too complicated. And gaining a level took forever.
The economy was insane. Buying potions and item cost crazy amounts of coin.
The elf males had the gayest fighting stance ever.

but on the plus side, the environments were huuuuge and really well modeled. The forests looked awesome. And the monsters looked way cool.
