Square enix is really fucking up right now.

we got like 3 FF titles for the ps2 before ps3 comes out and now we're prolly going to get only 1 or 2 titles (including versus) after they announce next gen consoles /facepalm

Well, I don't mind waiting 1/2 a year after the jap launch.
English translations/voice for RPGs normally took that long before anyways, some even longer.

More time for me to finish off FF6.

lol Asmo, I have like the same list as you except I finished 6. I should really get back to those. I for one don't mind at all that the next FF won't be outside of Japan til 2010. I wasn't expecting it this year, and good localization is important. Especially after seeing Infinite Undiscovery. Good game, terrible, and I mean TERRIBLE localization.

YES! I finally made some progress in FFXII. I defeated some boss, got out the Feywood and I entered the ancient city of Giruvegan! I wonder how far I am in the main story line..

I never managed to finish FFXII... I sucked at the beginning of the game.
Maybe the gameplay is not my type... OMG! >_< What should I do, if FFXIII comes out? XD

Congratulations! If you wanna know you're nearly at the end, but the last dungeon areas are very large, easily the largest of the game. I'd say you have about 6hrs worth if you plow right through the story. But obviously there's more if you put the time in. Tougher marks to kill, hidden Espers etc.

Cool, thanks for the info. Normally I don't play this type of game and it's still very hard for me at certain moments, because I'm just not sure what to do some times. I get the hang of it now. 6 hours? With my playing style it'll be much more  I'll keep updating as I progress haha.

Yeah, there are so many side-quests. I only got two espers now and they were part of the storyline. They're not very useful imo, but it'll be fun to collect them. I did quite a few hunts in the beginning, especially when i got stuck in the main storyline  :P Damn cluckatrice (or something) was so hard at the time..

Well then don't be discouraged if there's marks you can't kill. There's a few marks or hidden bosses/espers that I just couldn't kill no matter how hard I tried. Hardest I remember was getting an esper, but at the very start your HP was being drained throughout the whole battle and there was no way to cure it. They're for the real FF hardcore, you know, the kinds that use the utmost of the system to get the best equipment, items etc. If I'm not mistaken, the hardest boss in the whole game has around 10,000,000 HP. :o

Espers are rather redundant unfortunately, particuarly when they use up your opportunity to use the more useful Limit Breaks. But they're nice to look at and provide a distraction if anything.

I found the espers completely useless for me during the game. I ignored using them completely although I did collect more for the sake of trying to get everything. In the end, I just gave up and beat the game. XD

the FF12 limit breaks or mist are pretty disappointing imo. everyone just shoots colorful shit out from their hands. and it pisses me off when sometimes it drains all the MP from my magicians

The mists were alright when you use them the first time, but when you see them over and over again, that shit gets tired real fast. The espers were pretty useless against strong single enemies, but they were pretty good when you had multiple enemies I thought. Make it attack and heal itself, then use the final attack to kill all the smaller guys and deal damage to the main target. But that was pretty rare. The mist were also like a last resort thing for me when I thought I was in trouble and could kill the boss with some final blows.

I used mist a lot in the beginning of the game. I found out that if you get a quickening from the license board, your mp levels will go up. So I got my three main characters three quickenings as soon as I could. When I faced some judges or other bosses I could blow them away in a single mist attack.

But yeah, it completely drains your mp, so you can't really use it against the stronger bosses.

edit:

I also enjoy exploring areas you're not supposed to be at. Such as Zertinan Caverns (sp?), Nabreus Deadlands and the Necrohol of Nabudis. I don't think these areas even play a part in the main story line. They're filled with tough enemies, but I like to just run through the lands and explore the map

edit 2:
I found a guide book which states the greatsword 'excalibur' is a treasure in The Great Crystal. I checked the map, but the treasure boxes contain other items? Any ideas on where to find the sword?

haha the Great Crystal. I remember getting Excalibur, be warned though, as I recall you have to jump through a series of hoops (not in game XD) to get to it. If I remember correctly, even getting to it requires flicking switches, going through doors, backtracking, flipping more switches, backtracking...I couldn't possibly explain it and even a strategy guide isn't the best way to go about it. Take a look at Youtube for it though and there's video walkthroughs showing how to get to it. Good weapon too, I found it useful (and it could only be given to Basch :D)

Yeah the hidden areas are class, and you're right, there's no connection to the main story to them so you can stroll in there and level grind away if you feel like it.

Damn, I'm tempted to play FFXII again XD

^Thanks for the info and tips! Couldn't have done it without the video on yt.

I made it! I completed Giruvegan and got Excalibur!! I can't believe I pulled that of. It took me 2 hours in total, including killing the three bosses.

I got lost a couple of times. Getting Excalibur was extremely hard. There were enemies I couldn't kill and switches guarded by numerous bombs. I decided to flee the entire time, flick a switch and run back again. The first time I didn't get Excalibur in the chest, but only 2 gil  :bleed eyes: and all my characters were disabled. The second time I used float to avoid the trap (duh, should've done that the first time) and got the sword  XD  I'm sweating like crazy too, very exciting stuff

edit: making my way up through Pharos now, just took down Fenrir! (not to be confused with the member here, haha)

I'll try to stop boring everybody with my progress now  :P. Either you've 'been there, done that' or it might be a spoiler..
