Loving the game so far. :thumbsup

I don't know what chapter I'm in. But I just got to the big natural place which starts giving you hunting missions (don't want to give off spoilers), so it's great to be out in the open at last.
I feel like I need to level up a little more to continue though. I got massacred by lowly robots when trying to follow the storyline arrow. Went in too deep, and had to waste some status items just to get back out! :panic:

Also so great to have the party selection unlocked. I can get rid of the guys now, and go all FF-X2~ :inlove:

Note to self: Sell the chips dropped from soldiers, don't use them for material. :banghead:

This is such a weird experience for me, because even though I like rpgs, I've never really been into FF before. I've played a lot of them, but only really enjoyed 9 and X-2 (of the ones I've tried). X-2 is the only FF game I've been able to complete 8D Haha.

My favourite characters are Vanille, Fang, and Lightning (in that order). Yeah, I guess I'm all about the girls.

I like the girls more myself. But in a different order. Lightning, Vanille and Fang.
Lightning is just fantastic, and only Vanille can use death, which I believe to be the best spell in the game.

Moving subject, I don't know why but the idea came to my mind. Since we know that Team Ninja, from Tecmo, is working with Nintendo in a new metroid, which will be more action oriented, imagine if Square-Enix made a deal with team ninja to make a Yuffie game ! I mean, she's a ninja, loads of people are willing to buy anything with the stamp FFVII on it, I know I would, and with the so many kind of materia she could have loads of different spells and abilities.
Do you guys think this idea is horrible, or somewhat good ?
Come on, it isn't all that bad  :P

The idea is not bad.. to make a game with Yuffie as the main character! =D
But what kind of story would fit to Yuffie?

I like the concept Yuna! Just not Yuffie though partly because...

The idea is not bad.. to make a game with Yuffie as the main character! =D
But what kind of story would fit to Yuffie?

How about a story where she becomes an annoying bitch and steals all the parties' materia?

I have to admit, before Advent Children I didn't like Yuffie at all, but even with so short appearance she went up in my books, and add to that her small participation in Crisis Core.
About the story, if it were up to Tecmo alone it would probably just suck like the plot for any ninja gaiden game (although the gameplay would be good), so the story part we leave it to SE.

And think about it, they've managed to make Dirge of Cerberus, which I still haven't played, but people say that regardless of the gameplay, the story is good, so sure, SE could pull something good with Yuffie!

I just had the Paradigm Shift mechanic introduced to me and, oh boy :dizzy:

I actually died when I thought the frog things XD As  I remember I had 2 Commandos and a Ravager but I didn't really keep track of my health til it was too late. It's just crazy the amount that's happening on screen. And I want to be able to take in seeing all the new spells and techniques but having to keep an eye on stats at the same time makes it kinda hard right now. So a Commando is a fighter class, Ravager is black mage, Medic is white mage and Synergist is a defense/buff effect character? Guess I should probably stick with the Commando and 2 Ravager paradigm as the default for the meantime.

Also I tried using Libra but nothing seems to happen? I see a visual effect over an enemy but does it happen without me knowing or am I meant to expect the game pausing and giving me a list of information on a certain enemy like in past FF games?

Story's getting interesting. That scene where Lightning deals with the PSICOM thugs was badass! :w00t:

Heyo!!

I am at chapter 7 right now. I am liking this game a lot, and the paradigm shift, wow.... it makes battles go so much faster. but the enemies are SO MUCH HARDER. the graphics on my ps3 are just to DIE FOR, full 1080p baby, I have to take breaks or I get bored to fast, but jumping back in is WAY EASY.

love it love it. I am so happy my friend bought it for me. now I owe him BIG TIME!!

^ Good place to "level up" is in chapter 9  on the airship. The soldiers give out a decent amount of CP points and you get chips to sell, so you can buy components and upgrade your weapons/accessories. :D

I have a feeling I'll be spending a bit of time here. lol

Actually, I believe it was chapter 4 in the crystal forest, there's one place you can gain more CP points.

After riding the 2nd? elevator and past a save point, there's a group of those slug like creatures (5-6) that you can keep fighting and get a good amount of CP at the time. Just ride the elevator up and down to respawn them. :D And there's a handy save point nearby too.

Found I'm in Chapter 11. Just tried riding a Chocobo~

Also continued the story and did the tower. The guy who thought that up is smoking some really weird stuff. :P

There was this beautiful place that I really liked. Too bad it was so small.
It was a cave with green glowing bits on the floor. I looked at the water and it looked so real. :)
The story is also getting pretty emotional~

Why am I getting such a huge Shadow of the Colossus vibe!

Giving by how across reviews this lastest Final Fantasy seemed to gather lower scores than its predecessors Metacritic made an article called How Does “Final Fantasy XIII” Compare?, comparing Final Fantasy titles they have track of, seeing sales, reception and all.

It's at least interesting, considering that some fan favorites are not as high as people aspect, at least in some aspects. Here's the link: http://features.metacritic.com/features/2010/how-does-final-fantasy-13-compare/?tag=topslot;title;1

As for me, the ones on the top, in regards to score, are one of those I dislike the most...  :smhid

I got killed by Odin in less than 10 seconds.  By the 10 time it seems, I was able to beat him.

The trick to beat all the summons in a heartbeat is to just use a BLASTER or JAMMER (the one who casts spells and the one who casts debufs, respectively), preferably a JAMMER.

Well at least someone out there likes Vanille from the get-go. The Gooch even dubs Vanille's lines herself.  Aside from the ponytails I don't think they look all that familiar...

Awesome! But rather than having Yaguchi doing voice overs, I'd rather have Ai-chan singing the main theme for a Final Fantasy game, maybe the sequel to FFXIII Toriyama is already talking about (only interested at the moment), or VersusXIII.

Oh, and if she manages to do it, better SquareEnix doesn't change her song for some random crap.

Considering how much I disliked XI I doubt it will disappoint. I played XI but more than the excessive grinding, and lack of tutorials, the menus were the real gamebreaker for me.
If SE addresses it, it should be a much improved game!
