Prologus (the paid demo essentially) is coming to Europe, maybe even as early as next week. Here's what to expect:

Quote
Unique Scenario: Lightning, the protagonist of the popular FINAL FANTASY XIII, will be introduced to the DISSIDIA series for the first time. Players can journey through a unique scenario featuring Lightning that will recount the events leading to DISSIDIA 012[duodecim].

•Carry-over items from DISSIDIA duodecim prologus FINAL FANTASY to DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY: Players can continue their journey and have the advantage of carrying over in-game items acquired in DISSIDIA duodecim prologus FINAL FANTASY for use in DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY.

Unlock a new character: By purchasing DISSIDIA duodecim prologus, players will also receive the immensely popular Aerith from FINAL FANTASY VII for use as an assist character in DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY.

All hinges on price for me, anything more than £5 is asking way too much. If it's for less I'll probably pick it up.

First review for Duodecim I've seen arrived today in a gaming mag I've subscribed too. It got a respectable 7/10. Some quotes I'm lifting from the review which might be of interest

Quote
"Immediately players can import a save file from the original and carry over all its unlocked content"

Quote
"The main quest is where elite players will sense an obvious improvement. The chess boards have been scrapped, instead integrating most major story threads into one scenario, comple with an expansive world map adapted from the original Final Fantasy...Progression unlocks even more story content in the form of Reports, bite-sized chunks of mini-tales involving various member of the Dissidia cast"

Quote
"The problem lies in the amount of recycled content."

Quote
"The main scenario is still worth pursuing for veterans of this action-RPG offshoot. However for a franchise usually so keen on reinventing itself, this plays it very safe"

Don't know if I want to carry over my save file though. I've played it so much that surely my playtime with this would be drastically cut down if I lose any incentive to unlock characters/equipment/summons once again. Think I'll just start anew.

Of course the OST has some tracks returning from the first one but re-composed! Like the theme song, that was used in the trailers! But for my taste.. there are really good and new ones in there! I would recommend the OST! ^__^
I bought the First press Limited Edition, that is in a Slip-in & -out Box. This LE has even a DVD... The DVD has the Jump Festa 2008 Trailer of Dissidia, the Final Trailer of Dissidia, the TGS2010 Trailer of Duodecim and ther final Trailer of Duodecim of course. And one more Clip, that I can't descripe what kind of clip that will be! I didn't watched the DVD yet...

I was reading through some other forums and someone mentioned the import system:

Quote
You have two options: "Stronger New Game" and "Level Reset." The former carries over your character levels, abilities, accessory slots, AP, player icons and partial PP catalogue. The latter does not carry over character level, ability or AP. You also get some bonus items for importing.

How awesome is that? Now I get the benefits of importing the save file over and still be able to level up my characters from scratch. I just get the feeling that if I did a full import, with character levels, abilities etc, then I'll just lose the incentive to play as them again. I don't mind starting anew.

Thinking about the criticism that review had, regarding recycled content, and I would have to disagree. Yeh the characters from the original return and stages may come back in their entirety, but think of all that's going in. New characters, equipment, stages, reworked single player campaign, new assist system, online play and the ability to create and share custom made quests. I think it goes further than other fighting game sequels do like SFIV to SSFIV.

I cleared my first Titan trial in FFXIII! I had originally ended up fighting the monster that does the double casting magic and couldn't find a way to get him. Came so close one time and then he just decided to double cast Ruinga and it wiped me out completely. So I retried but chose a different path instead. Cleared it no problem. Now I just have to do the rest, as well as this other trial that opened up for me when I cleared that one!

Also beat the Ochu as well, without resorting to Vanille's Death spell that I've read is so popular! Dude is cheap  That screech attack just removes all your buffs. But you need a Commando to have Bravery and Enfire on and he just saps that HP away from him.

Prologus is out...next week. Two days before the release of the full game. Something tells me they meant to release it today, a week before the games out but for some reason just couldn't. Seems a bit silly to ask to pay for what is essentially a demo when all you need to do is wait 48 hours and you'll have the full game in your hand.

Ugh I'm probably not gonna bother with the demo then. Might see how much it is when it is released though so we'll see.

Mine has the potential to be here Thursday or Friday.

Also: Prologus will only cost £2.40 so I'm gonna buy it tomorrow.

Guess what? My copy arrived today! Definately not buying Prologus now!

First impressions are gonna be very brief as I've only done the Tutorial battle side of things and looked at some of the menus. Better get the big negative out of the way first. I was way wrong about playing against other people online. Turns out you can't play against other people online. Actually as it turns out, there is no online functionality at all for NA/EU versions of the game. I can only assume that hosting servers are justified over in Japan where the PSP is a big seller, but not so much over on this side of the world. So my hopes of playing Takitty in online play is completely destroyed XD And there doesn't appear to be an easy way for us to play original made quests or view friend cards.

But, that doesn't mean it's off the cards completely! The Dissidia forums is going to act as something of a repository where players will share quests and friend cards which you can grab from there. And if you download it like you do with any file you do on the internet, you can then transfer that data onto your PSP like you would for music/videos etc and you'll be able to access them from there. Happy days.

Quest Upload Guide
Friend Card Upload Guide

I'll upload my friend card eventually and a quest should I ever make a good one XD

Not much to say about gameplay, it's Dissidia so it's pretty awesome. Lightning's a bit of a tricky character with those Paradigm Shifts, but an awesome one already. EX Bursts seem to drain super fast this time. I partially transferred my save data and the PP Catalog is sitting at 55% complete already. Oh and beware about how you respond to the moogle in the beginning, if you claim to be a master like I did, you'll get a rude awakening :nervous

I got my copy today but due to the fact I have two weeks to finish a difficult assignment I won't have much time to play it :(

But I also downloaded Prologus which I'll be playing before Duodecim anyway XD

Played a bit of prologus yesterday. Greatly enjoyed beating Cloud with 48 HP through the entire battle XD Lighting is a great character; just hope she gets more medic skills. Kain is also interesting. The new moves are awesome!

I just played through the Tutorial of Duodecim! ^__^ I like the game ;_;
Before I started with the Story of the game, I did some Quick Battles with the new Characters to test out, with who I can play better....
