A roller coaster traveling up to 46 mph hit a guardrail at an amusement park in western Japan on Saturday, killing one person and injuring 21 others, officials said.

Shouldn't they do inspections of the rollercoaster cars before they actually use them though?

I love roller coasters and this doesn't scare me one bit

I'm more likely to die driving to school in the morning than on a roller coaster anyways

Wow expect a major lawsuit against the amusement park. This reminds me of an incident that happened at an amusement park where I usually go. The roller coaster just stopped in the middle of going through one of the loops. People were upside down hanging for couple of hours until they had to be rescued. But atleast no one was hurt.

how is that possible? o_o pretty much all looped roller coasters I've seen don't have anything to stop a car on a loop, they'd just roll through it and stop later. A rollor coaster is pretty much a free rolling train. if they were to get stuck it would have to be either the car lost momentum or stopped in one of the ratcheted belt sections. Getting stuck in a loop is not physically possible unless there is a ratchet there. Even if it were to lose momentum, it would just roll backwards.

Argh! I love roller coasters.. and though this news won't stop me from riding them, it will still make me worry more when I hear creaks and other weird sound from a roller coaster...
well maybe that will make my ride even more fun? haha

And yeah, even if Zekkyou CM still exist now, It will be put to a stop for sure

I worked at an amusement park in High School. We always had to give every ride a test run in the morning before opening. Most accidents I remember were because of the kids getting themselves hurt by doing stupid stuff.

One of my HS girls was there that day...Poor kid was really quite at school (2days after), and no doubt counting her lucky stars it wasn't her..
