A Canadian mother has frozen her eggs for use by her seven-year-old daughter, who is likely to become infertile.

Should the girl opt to use the eggs and gain regulatory approval, she would effectively have a baby that was her half-brother or sister.

Oh man, trying to figure out the relations between the mother, the child and the as yet unborn child, it's like a riddle, it's an enigma. Ethically, I think, at the end of the day, it's the family's decision to make, and it's only an option later down in life that the girl could make. It should be kept private and it's not really any of my business, nor does it affect me. I just say, let them get on with it.

Small number of exception, no need to worry so much.  Anyway, the girl is only 7 years' old.  They have 20+ years to decide.

I think this is a good precaution. I don't see this would cause any harm to the child...

Turner syndrome is characterized by the presence of a single complete functioning sex-determining chromosome, the X chromosome, instead of two, either XX or XY.  It occurs in 1 out of every 2500 female births.

This sucks.  It's not as if she can have her own genome inserted in her mother's egg when that becomes possible.

I don't see the objection. It wouldn't be inbreeding, and if the mother and daughter are OK with it then where's the issue?

Why can't the 7 year old girl when she grows up get another donor?

Why does it have to be he own mother?

Am I missing come compatibility issue here?

Of course it doesn't have to be his mother's egg. But at least it's an option for her.

I find it more natural to have a child of her own "blood" than completely random egg. However, if her disease have something to do with genes maybe it's better not use her mother's eggs.
